Dragon’s Den Kratom, no word on shipping, no email response a over a week later.

Post by Celery »

Hi folks. I wanted to write a review of this vendor. I placed an order very early morning Saturday October 18. The site said that order placed before noon are shipped the same day. I placed an order at 5 am Central Time. No word on shipping the same day. I think fine, let’s wait till Monday. Monday arrives, still no word on shipping. Come Tuesday. Finally I get an email saying my order is shipped but what’s this? The UPS tracker simply says label created and nothing else. A few days go by and nothing, I send an email to them and no response. Come Monday October 27 and no package and the UPS tracking says label created and nothing else. I email them a second time, no response. Tuesday October 28, no response, no update on tracking.

I heard that this vendor had great service and some of the fastest shipping. Instead, I feel like I got scammed. I wanted to post this here to see if anyone has similar experiences.

It says dropped off at a shipping place (3rd party) yesterday. UPS will probably grab it today (Weds) or tomorrow (Thurs), then you can track it after that. It ain't started moving til UPS actually gets ahold of it and enters it into their system. That said, it is pretty lame when places makes a shipping label, then it takes a week to even drop it off at a 3rd party shipping store. Kind of egregious imo.

I had a HORRIBLE experience with UPS and kratom recently. It was shipped out, hit
the Portland OR facility in time and then just stopped. Sat there for like 10 days, finally
made it to WA and the facility in my town stated it was damaged and they disposed of it.

Seller resent via USPS. I don't know if UPS reimbursed the seller or not. It was just awful.

UPS has been in chaos lately with the tariffs, maybe it's bleeding over into
in-country shipments too. You should see the discussion on the UPS sub on Reddit.

I hope you get your order straightened out soon.

Hey Celery, sorry you ran into that! I know how frustrating that is, the absolute worst thing about ordering kratom is waiting for it to arrive!

Just wanted to give you some perspective from a vendors point of view of what might be going on (just to clarify, I am not the vendor Celery is referring to) Typically the cutoff for weekend shipping with most shipping services is noon on Saturday. Unfortunately, the busiest time for online vendors is also Friday night / Saturday morning, as everyone just replenished their kratom budget when payday hit. We always wake up to a lot of orders on Saturday, and depending on the vendors circumstances its can be really challenging to get to the shop, pack everything, and make it to the drop-off before noon if there are a ton of orders. We are sometimes able to, and sometimes we aren't. With that, I don't know their situation, but there is no way we would be able to guarantee same day shipping on Saturdays if the order is received by noon - that's literally impossible where we are.

Something to also note is I know from experience that sometimes the problems are all on the side of USPS or UPS - even when it looks like the vendor is just being lazy. Occasionally I will get packages where they don't update for some reason, even though they absolutely have been picked up. Its worse when it happens on a weekend because they might pick it up on Friday, and then the first updates happens on Monday or Tuesday somehow. I know for a fact that our USPS worker will sometimes just straight up not scan them when he is in a hurry, but I have never seen UPS do that. My guess is that when they scan it maybe they are on the wrong screen or something - I dont really know how it works on their end. At any rate, I know it looks like to the customer that we are just sitting on the package whenever that happens :(

Other things that go wrong is sometimes our mail pickup just straight up skips us! With USPS you can request a mail pickup and they are supposed to do that (and they do 99% of the time). With UPS, we actually pay them to come pick it up and they still occasionally skip us. Ive had times where customers pay $50 for next day shipping and our UPS person never came. We have a special outgoing package bin that they can access and sometimes they pick it up in the evening - so there is no way for me to make an emergency run to UPS by the time I realize they arent coming...those things are long closed. Sometimes when I have an overnight packaged I just go ahead and run it to the store because I know Ill spend the rest of the day stressing that this is the day they decide to skip us

Another thing is sometimes our USPS/UPS driver is just running late so even though they pick up the package from us, they dont make it back to the distribution center in time for it to go out that day.

Finally, when place an order on Wednesday, you might not receive the package until a week later and technically its "right on time" according to UPS's 4 day delivery estimate. None of the shipping entities view weekends as days in transit - they only recognize the "business days" of Monday - Friday. Your vendor might get your order when they go to the shop on Thursday and then depending when its picked up or dropped off, that Thursday may not count as a day in transit. Then you have Friday, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesay as days of transit and your package took a whole week to get to you, but at the same time it only took 4 days

As for the vendor not replying, that is strange. No vendor would survive by treating customers that way, so maybe something happened to them (hospitalization, etc.). I would give them a few more days grace to see what pans out. You would think that they would set an auto-reply, but if something truly terrible happened it may not be at the front of mind just yet. If they were a random nobody you ordered from Id be worried, but you said that you have heard great things about them so I wouldnt give up hope just yet.

I'm sorry you are experiencing this, I can feel your pain. Trust me, vendors feel the pain on their end too! Nothing is worse than when you care a great deal about customer service and your customer is stuck sitting there for 10 days waiting for what should have been a 2-3 day delivery. Unfortunately, once the package leaves the vendor, they are basically powerless outside of reshipping an order.

On a side tangent USPS is just not what it used to be. Their "priority shipping" was incredibly efficient and speedy back a few years ago, and we were happy to pay for the "upgraded shipping" because it was worth it! However, but when they went to the "Delivering for American Plan" it started a long downward slope. Delivery times have regressed each year since then, and Im not an expert enough to know the exact reason why, but I know they reworked contracts to shift more away from "air" and towards more "ground" delivery. We have tracked shipping timeframes for our customers and upgrading shipping to "priority shipping" essentially does nothing... its a total roll of the dice on what service which USPS service will get there faster. Not to mention, they have jacked up the prices every single year significantly since then. When we started we used to be able to ship most 1kg packages with 2 days shipping for $8 - those were the good old days! Now their "Express Mail" is usually 2 days and the same size package costs $29.45 with a business shipping discount (retail its $34.25) To be fair the cost of gas prices has steadily increased since around 2020, but this year prices are going down and they just raised the prices again :?

In USPS official reporting for their 2024 year end review, they say that the average delivery time for mail pieces and packages is 2.8 days. The key here though is that they purposely lump in "mail pieces" and "packages" together because the vast majority of their mail is local marketing mailers that often have a delivery window of 1 day, lol. Of course you cannot find the broken down statistics anywhere that separates "packages" and "mail pieces"- its a sneaky trick to make it look like they are much better than they really are.

We have since gone to a mix of using UPS and USPS. We basically track shipment history and use whichever service we think will be faster to that area. Price wise they are usually pretty close, but the delivery windows vary greatly depending on location (among many other "variables" that nobody can predict).

Good luck, I hope everything works out!
