**INTRODUCTION THREAD** - new members post here

Since I was invited by a fellow member to introduce myself, I guess I will.

No false modesty - I just am a newbee trying to understand the amazing substance that brings so many of us together. I truly appreciate all the knowledge of this forum and will always contribute what small things I might have found myself.

I'm really, really old - truly, most likely old enough to be your grandfather (at the very least your father). If I had known I was going to live this long I'd have taken much better care of myself. As it is my body is broken down in so many ways that previous to Kratom it was all I could do to make it through the day. I'm an avid tennis player, and up until a few years ago I was playing every day but the pain got too much, so I cut it back to three or four times a week. Even then, though, I was taking a LOT of meds every day I played. Most was OTC stuff, but I was also taking opioids prescribed by my doctor. I tried not to overdo it or increase the dose, but taking three or four a week was still too much.

And I was drinking alcohol every night. Again, mostly for the pain. At my age I wasn't worried about substance abuse, since during the last half century I never had any issues, but I was also always looking for alternatives. Then I watched Hamilton's Pharmacopeia and he did an episode on Kratom.

I had never heard of it, even though after the show I looked around and started seeing it sold locally even at gas stations here in Florida (where I retired along with my DW of many, many decades, as we are Disneyholics). So I tried it and not only did it stop me from needing opioids or any OTC stuff at all, it cut down my alcohol to once a week or so (and then just for the taste with food).

So now I preach the word to my fellow oldsters and I keep experimenting. The limited time I have left on this earth pretty well promises I'll never quite get it completely understood, but that's part of the fun.

We have one daughter (in California but we are working on getting her to move here next year), four grandkids, and lots of cats (well, three - I'd have more if I could but my DW draws the line somewhere :>). I spend most of my retirement either playing tennis or animating (I'm a retired IT guy but I also made a lot of money in 2D and 3D animation, and now it's just for fun). I won't put my YouTube channel here in case that's not allowed, but I have dozens of (funny, I hope) animations there and my username is MikeDKelley.

A large portion of the kratom community is on mewe, i suggest you make an account and ask people here to invite you to their groups, both for buying kratom, rating kratom, etc. We have some social groups, and a new coffee group. There must be tons of tennis groups. I'm not Serena, but i took two summers of tennis as a kid, felt confident in it.

I’m a new member but a long time Kratom user and love the plant for changing my life in many ways, mainly due to pain. Such a great alternative to what else is out there. Although I’ve been ordering from a variety of sources for a long time, I’ve found the small batch “mom and pop” sources to be the absolute best and I’d much rather support small businesses. I love the Kratom community, as everyone is so incredibly helpful and kind and I love to help assist others in this field whenever possible, whether that’s financial from ordering product, or offering my many years of advice from experimenting with the different colors and varieties that are available out there. I’m a member of mewe and was wondering what groups I could join? I’ve never been very active on mewe and so I’m not sure what groups are popular and useful with the Kratom users on here. No but seriously whoever created this site and came up with the idea is amazing. This is absolutely one of the best resources for kratom someone can ask for. Im late to the party here at MM, but I have been using kratom since 2015. I started with headshop kratom because it helped with withdraws as i had a few surgeries for my fused wrist from a snowboarding accident. I got stuck on the oxycodone and wanted to quit. My first time trying kratom was on the second day of withdraws from oxy. I found kratom in a headshop made a tea with one teaspoon and everything was better. I actually only used it the next 3 days then didn't use it again for probably 6 months until the pain came back. I'm an avid whitewater kayaker, rafter, mountain biker, snowboarder, 14er hiker, and gym enthusiast. After the accident i couldn't do any sports and in 2015 my doctor actually kept giving me hydrocortisone shots in my wrist every 3-4 weeks for $350 an appointment and told me I'm basically stuck with pain pills and shots. I started kratom and doing pullups to beat the pain at first really sucked. Everyone said it was a bad idea which it could have been, but that wasnt the life i wanted to live. I was seriously so depressed i didnt want live if i had to stop all my activites and be in constant pain. Eventually i over came the majority of the pain and can do every sport again. I've never went back to the doctor since 2015 and also quit the adderall i was on since i was a kid and ssri at the same time. Kratom changed my life i go to the gym 5-6 days a week and do recreational sports every minute that i can.

Thank you guys kindly for letting me into this community its been a blessing and i love how we are all trying to share our experiences.

Hello fellow Kratomites!

New Kratomite here. I am grateful to have found this forum after some google-fu and a few weeks of lurking. The people and the quality of content here really speak for themselves.

I always do a bit of research when I find something I like. I discovered Kratom at a local smoke shop while looking for something else (resistance wire). I knew I was on to something after the first sample. While it did the trick, the quality was questionable and I could see there were other options. My search for better Kratom led me to this forum. Again, very grateful to have found you all!

I'm an old-ish guy with osteoarthritis. Advanced degeneration of the spine. (keeping it short). Conventional pain management stopped working several years ago so I quit opioids around that same time. I have enjoyed significant relief from Kratom during this last month so I look forward to learning more and possibly sharing my experience, strength and hope with other members in the near future.

I've been lurking around this forum for a couple weeks now and finally decided to join. I've been using kratom daily for 5 or so years. I've always done lots of lurking and learning on Reddit but it feels a little more level headed over here to me. Since I've been hanging around here I've tried a couple vendors off the vetted list and that worked out very well for me, so thanks for that ballz, you're doing the lord's work.

Probably like many others; before reddit redacted it's usefulness and you didn't have to say aroma anymore, kratom became more affordable.

So here I am again, asocial (not antisocial), trying to engage in a social atmosphere with the personal agenda to be able to order from TFH someday.

I don't imagine that my story is unique. I'm a chronic and debilitating pain case for 2 decades now. I generally stick with reds but try to keep some green and gold in rotation. I haven't had the loopy happy feels since going beyond the 3g per dose. I go through just under 1kg/month (3 dose/day usually) so the stomach ulcer crap that developed in the service means I also get to crap more 'normal'. Wierd flex maybe? Not when the alternative is like explosive soft-serve.

Here I'll place the standing obligatory, "sorry if I rub anyone the wrong way" apologies. I don't people well.

Like so many others in the community, I found my way here via Reddit and I’ve been lurking here for a few months. I finally decided to join on Christmas Eve while sitting up all night reading the endless substantive posts. With regard to kratom, if I knew half of what I thought I knew, I would've known twice as much as I actually know! But that's okay, we're all learning. I'm a pretty generous contributor to AKA (>$5k to date) and have submitted a couple testimonies on behalf of AKA that were published as LTE locally in NOLA. Despite taking kratom for the past 10 or so years, I have come to realize how little I know about this plant that's changed my life. I appreciate and value the wisdom shared here, and look forward to becoming a more active member of the community.

I took a couple yrs off and found the small batch sub last year and now I'm here and happy I found this community! I'm not a member of any private vendors atm (was for Lucky's but not for long before going open) but have been enjoying the vendors I've found thru much lurking. Lol Things certainly have changed ofc, but I've really been enjoying trying out these newer vendors and getting to know ppl! I'm mostly pretty quiet but looking to get a lil more involved. I really love a nice slow-mid-slow green! I also enjoy mellow yellows and some reds. My body chemistry has changed a lot over the years and krat is so extremely individual, so I continue my search for the right mesh and continuing to rest my chemistry.
