This is a good informative and brutally honest look at exactly what benzos like Xanax , Klonopin etc are really like.

Yeah my wife has been on valium for probably 15 years or so

We watched the CNN documentary with Lisa Ling about benzos, it is a sobering thought knowing that she's gonna have to go through that. I wish doctors were a little more responsible for what they're pushing on their patient's.

Serious stuff... THE most dangerous drug. I guess Benzo withdrawals, can be much worse than opiates due to the brain warping effect. Far worse than heroin ?? So they say... Mental anguish. Intense feeling of sadness and just wanting to die.. Mixing benzo's with SSRI's and / or alcohol you've got a potential 911 Call happening. Yes people are different but.. its like Russian Roulette with your brain
Common benzos include: diazepam (Valium*); lorazepam (Ativan*); clonazepam (Klonopin*, Rivotril*); chlordiazepoxide (Librium*); alprazolam (Xanax*); temazepam (Restoril*); and zolpidem** (Ambien*).
So how does Kratom, help or effect benzo wd's ?? For anyone who needs more info... Of course Reddit is prob your best resource, the Kratom Knowledge Base - for anyone who is reading this: Use the
Reddit Search Bar. Example:

I think kratom can definitely help benzos WD but I'd stay with reds till you get a bit of distance from them, a slow green could work.

For anyone trying to quit benzos those stories on benzobuddies are someone Else's story and not Your story I had a hard time for about two weeks and after that everything keeps getting better. You won't necessarily have a seizure or develop a WD syndrome. I was on em for 17 years and got cold turkeyed off, no seizures no long term WD.

Benzo help me. Sure, maybe they hurt some people who abuse them and lack self control but they improve my overall quality of life when used responsibly and am glad my doctor makes them available. I take 1-2mg Xanax extended release a day and it makes a huge difference. For those who don't have or understand chronic anxiety, I can't expect you to understand. The same way I can't expect those without major depressive to know what Prozac does. There will always be folks who decry big pharma this, corrupt doctors that. So be it. I know what makes a difference for me. This does NOT go for benzoheads who shop around and abuse an entire month script in a few days. Those people have a problem, sad to say. Benzos can be used responsibly and they greatly improve my quality of life in multiple aspects, and I'm sure others have similar positive experiences who.use their medications as prescribed..but as always,
there will be folks out there who label me a drug.addict, and hates gonna hate. Living without debilitating anxiety is a true blessing.
zolpidem** (Ambien*).
Just a quick note, Ambien is not a benzo..it's actually a nonbenzo hynoptic. In the same class as Lunesta (eszolpiclone), Imovane (zopiclone) and Sonata (zalpelon), also known as "Z-drugs" Not that anyone really cares, just had to clear that up.

I used to kinda have a similar mindset but I later realized I was just uninformed. You can take exactly as directed and still get all those problems. It creates a dependency...

All drugs create a dependency. Doesn't mean you have to go around claiming others as "misinformed". A little tact goes a long way, especially on a site made for those dedicated to the usefulness and often daily use of a drug. Your posts can be said for just about anything; caffeine, nicotine, mitragymine, many others

Everything in this topic is meant to help people. Balls posted some good links too. Misinformed isn't an insult or not meant as such, it was intended to be helpful that you might learn more about it and be better off for it.

Ok, I will now against my better judgement respond to.am adult (?) named Fast blaster....
Now you're just coming off as sanctimonious, implyimg miseducation my part of the subject at hand.
It might not meant to be an insult,.ñbut it.certainly comes off as one. What, if I may ask, makes you an authority on benzodiapines and their alleged misuse, to might make one "better' (what is that, praytell, supposed to mean)?

I'm def no Authority on benzo's, or super well informed even

These drugs have their place, and very widely prescribed
I am interested in looking into
etizolam if anyone else has info, or questions please Reply or PM thanks

I'm only the authority of myself. I've read if one wants to be off benzos it should be their own decision. Other than that I just read a lot about them. I don't really want to have a debate about any of this do whatever it is you do and smile

I know a fair amount of about etizolam if you're interested. For one, it has become MUCH harder to obtain than it was only 4-5 years ago.. it's become much more popular and while it is still available, legality has become a factor. It is for one, a lot of people's favorite benzos, even more so than Xanax and valium. Other research chemicals have stepped into to the fill the demand, it seems there's a new one each year (flualprazolam, bromazolam, and clonazolam) being some of more popular newer ones, all with their ups and downs, and it should be noted that the potency and duration of these new ones are nothing to fuck with, none are as in demand as etizolam (which actually is not a benzodiapine, it's a thienodiazepine?.)
Much can be learned from browsing drugs-forum and bluelight. Although be wary of their eccentric rules. Many of these drugs are unprofessionally and inaccurately presssed into pellets with little quality control little over the amount that goes into each pellet. For example, one pellet may contain 0.5g of active ingredient, while somd may have 2-3 times that amount if not more or anywhere in-between, if indeed it the drug as advertised
Also this is in no way a commercial for these ultra-potent drugs (some as active in as little as 50 ug (that's micrograms folks). I'd advise avoiding them altogether, but in the interest of harm rediction, this information remains accessible.

Why would you Cold Turkey?
I’m truly astonished by how doing this hasn’t caused a Seizure or some other harmful symptoms.
17 years is a very long time for your brain to be on something and something so impactful, and then removing it from thyself must of been real difficult.
I’m glad you’re Okay!

I had to quit cold turkey because I had rhabdomyolysis and they took me off all my meds and hooked me up to IV fluids for few days. It was difficult but I think the fluids flushing my system helped. I got lucky no seizures, they put pads on either side of the bed Incase I had one. They gave me librium when I left but i didn't take it because I had a mindset I could do without it. Everything got easier , I felt extremely lucky to have had less problems than I expected to have. Reading all the stuff about benzo WD had me too scared to try it. If it hadn't happened the way it did I'd still be on them.

If you read my reply you'll notice i wasnt disagreeing. But just because benzos are frequently misused that doesn't negate their benefit altogether. This is turning into a let's shit on a benzo thread, not am "honest look"" at it. I'm sure the sobriety threads are having similar anti kratom banter
and who knows what the anticaffeine straight edgers are up to

I studied benzo withdrawal years ago when I tapered off after more than 10 years of usage. I was on Xanax (alprazolam) but moved to clonopin ( clonazepam) for its longer half life and ability to be tapered more easily. I tapered over months and didn’t have many issues at all stopping. An estimated 30% ( or more) of people don’t even have the major withdrawal symptoms that we so often hear about. I was lucky enough to be one of those people. I did experience a little rebound anxiety, but as far as the major withdrawal effects, such as seizure and hardcore physical symptoms, I was lucky to not deal with that. That being said, some people do have a hellish time coming off of them. I think it all comes down to body chemistry.

I’ve never even heard of that! Rhabdomyolysis
Damn.
Yeah if it wasnt for me getting arrested a bunch of times because of Benzos and Alcohol and spending 5 days in jail I probably would still be on it too! Fuck Benzos
All I need is Kratom
And beathappening I get it I see what you’re trying to express here
Some people do in fact need benzodiazepines but honestly I do not think anyone who has an addictive personality should be on Benzodiazepines and also I do Not think anyone should be on them for a long period of time.
There are studies that show links to Benzodiazepines causing early Alzheimers and other terrible memory problems, learning deficiencies, etc.
And for me it caused all of those except the Alzheimers but I sure as hell was on my way my memory was MUSH!
That stuff is fkng crap
The debate between realizing how BAD benzos are and the point Beathappening is trying to point out is a huge debate and I agree with both sides but honestly theres no Easy Answer!
Benzos are toxic and fuck with the brain and actually make anxiety worse imo longterm.
Stay Away from benzodiazepines
Use Kratom for a Life worth Living! <3

This is true. Also it's not recommended to take benzos more than 2 months as directed. The honest look at it is the video mentioned the stuff they do to people and they can change your personality. Outside of that 2 month window or used very occasionally they aren't good for you. Used occasionally they can be fantastic. Like someone who needs them to fly.

People in this country love to exercise zero self-discipline, then blame the substance, their doctor, genetic predisposition, big pharma, the culture, etc... any and everything besides their own judgement.
It's really quite pathetic, and can possibly lead to the sort of mass hysteria that ends in prohibition. It happened with alcohol, it's happening to opioids (in the sense that people in pain can't get a script), and I can forsee a lot of people in the future that would truly benefit from benzodiazepines - having that option removed.
I don't say any of this as a holier-than-though judge of addiction. I've had my life absolutely turned upside down and plunge into the horror of benzo withdrawal. I made it through, and I was able to do so without dragging down my sense of subjectivity about a valuable class of drugs. I wish more addicts were able to do this - to not project their own problems onto the world - but it seems that sensibility is become more few and far between. Sensationalized crap tv programs like this only serve to reinforce addicts' selfish outlook, and scare the rest who are uninformed.
