Anyone here take any mushrooms or mycelium? I've recently started experimenting with various mushrooms like cordyceps militaris/sinensis(which is creepy as hell in nature btw nightmare fuel for insects) and Lion's mane(Hericium erinaceus) for various health benefits. They can be a bit pricey but I've noticed various benefits from taking both of these mushrooms. Cordyceps seems to be a potent vasodilator which increases circulation helping to deliver much needed oxygen to the cells of the body. I've noticed insane improvements if used during exercise I've even noticed benefits if taken with kratom. It's known to increase metabolic function and bloodflow which is my guess why it may add a bit more kick to kratom. Cordyceps has a very long history of use particularly in alternative medicines and in traditional Chinese culture/medicine. I've suffered from fatigue issues for a very long time and ever since I've started taking cordyceps I seem to have a lot more energy throughout the day but unlike stimulants I'm able to get great sleep. I've also been cutting back on my stimulant/caffeine use which is great and long overdue. Caffeine and stimulants work short term but usually make "chronic fatigue" or whatever you want to call it much worse over time I feel kratom could be in the same category as well especially if overused. So any of you out there that may suffer from fatigue issues you may want to give cordyceps a try, it's certainly helping me a ton.
The many benefits from taking cordyceps
Now on to Lion's mane this is where it gets very interesting and seems almost too good to be true, Lion's Mane is able to induce NGF(Nerve Growth Factor) / BDNF(Brain-Derived Neurotropic Factor) secretion directly in the brain. This has a positive effect on neurogenesis, cognition, memory, mood and aging.
some info on NGF:
Wikipedia NGF
and BDNF:
Wikipedia BDNF
I've long suffered from horrible brain fog and worsing memory which kratom doesn't help with in fact it's made my cognitive abilities worse over time with overuse. I also have to take anticholinergic antihistamines everyday due to severe allergies and histamine issues which are absolutely terrible for your brain over time. I've experimented with "nootropics" but never noticed much from them other than Choline+Phenylpiracetam. Since I've started taking Lion's mane every day I've had a much clearer perspective and experiencing less brain fog. I'm not forgetting things I was just doing(lol) or wanting to do. I seem to be able to actually focus on a task easier which is hard for my scatterbrain which always is looking for constant stimulation. So as far as nootropics go this one is working great for me if I had to choose between the two I would continue with just taking Lion's mane.
some case studies on Lion's Mane:
Improving effects of the mushroom on mild cognitive impairment: a double-blind placebo-controlled clinical trial
Reduction of depression and anxiety by 4 weeks Hericium erinaceus intake
Improvement of cognitive functions by oral intake of Hericium erinaceus.
Prevention of Early Alzheimer’s Disease by Erinacine A-Enriched Hericium erinaceus Mycelia Pilot Double-Blind Placebo-Controlled Study

Nice one, i also take lions mane once in a while, you can buy powder form. Really good stuff, after taking it for a week i had to cool it down because i was taking it to improve memories since i have bad one. While i was working i started remembering memories when i was 4 years old, remembered my grandma taking me for a walk and remember mom making me my favorite warm milk bottle, how i snug under a blanket and slowly drank the warm milk, felt like heaven.. I never ever thought of that before , when i notice Lions mane was at cause i cooled off of it, dont want to keep remembering my child hood. It really does work, very subtle like kratom except it has its own properties. Its not cheap thought but if you have bad memory this will be GOLD! But for it to work for anxiety and depression i think you have to take it for a while like one month and it kicks in? something like that.
this is the one i used

Yeah I'm actually blown away by how well it works for cognitive function and memory. There is so much data with positive case studies on this mushroom I'm kind of surprised it hasn't really caught on yet or is a mainstream thing. It really makes me interested in other mushrooms or mushroom blends for overall health, they even make extracts and mushroom coffee too. The brand I current take is the
Om mushroom brand but I'm sure other brands would be just as good and possibly cheaper.
Anyone who's interested in this stuff like I am this is a good site to check out

Going to be trying Red Reishi mushroom soon, I've read a lot of very promising reports about its interaction when taken with kratom. Pretty much every report I have read has stated it potentiated kratom particularly the euphoria and moodlift some even stating it brought the good feelings back similar to when they first started.

Ive been meaning to pick up more lion’s mane. I took it for a while years ago and remember it helping somewhat, but eventually I became so burnt out by trying to form the perfect stack that I just stopped taking everything entirely. Now I have a duffel bag full of supplements that are all probably useless by now.

Haha yeah I went through the same phase of "nootropics" and all that shit. Noticed very little from all that stuff other then modafinil and phenylpiracetam otherwise it's just a waste of money. I'm getting great results with Lion's mane though and the research that's been done on it is staggering. It's almost too good to be true tbh.

Yeah. I really really need to start taking it again. My memory has been going downhill the last couple years and I feel like Kratom is at least partially to blame. Honestly it’s one of my biggest concerns about long term usage.

Yeah I'm in the same sort of situation, I believe kratom to have some slight anticholinergic effects to it. This may explain why kratom can cover up allergies and colds sometimes actually improving them. Anticholinergic activity however can do number on cognition long term, specifically memory. Stuff like benadryl and 1st gen anti-histamines are being linked to dementia and Alzheimer's which is pretty scary for me. I have to take anti histamines everyday on top of kratom so I might be really messing my cognition up.

Very interesting. I wonder if taking acetylcholine would help balance things back out?

Interesting never heard about seaweed for better cognition or more specifically seaweed extract. Looks promising I'll probably try it out, thanks.

"Seaweed led to significant improvements to accuracy on digit vigilance (p = 0.035) and choice reaction time (p = 0.043) tasks. These findings provide the first evidence for modulation of cognition with seaweed extract"

I just bought a 4 month supply of Orivida LM and I’m starting to get excited about hopefully getting some of my life back. Thanks for posting this and putting it back on my radar. I’ll check back in with how it goes.

That's great! For me it took a week or two to really start noticing improvements with my cognition. There's definitely a noticeable change with my memory recall. Before taking Lion's Mane even just finding the right words to say was becoming difficult for me but if you don't notice stuff after a week or two don't give up on it. Some of the case studies show it can take up to a month to really start making positive impacts on cognition, memory, and mood.

this is true, it is subtle but make no mistakes it works! you might notice it in 2 weeks or a month and some episodes of recalls are amazing. just keep at it for lions mane. Imagine you talking to a friend and you couldnt remember a lot of stuff, now you will be able to recall a lot more then what you use too.
