Pokey mat you lie on.
Family member has pretty bad back problems, something to do with disks and sciatica as a result I believe. They told me they had just gotten a acupressure mat and found surprising relief from using it.
I do not have any medical issues. My work is very physical in nature however, and I have occasional (and less occasional) aches and pains as a result. Decided to get a acupressure mat and pillow set for myself, ~$15. Instantly fell in love with this thing. It promotes a general sense of calm and relaxation for me in addition to providing acute pain relief with a bit of lingering pain relief after. I also have trouble falling asleep and it definitely helps me wind down and drift off. If I time my leaf to kick in while on the mat, I just absolutely melt.
I recommend giving it a try!

Re: Acupressure mat
Thanks for the recommendation.
Every few weeks I find myself on Amazon reading about acupressure mats and trying to decide if I should get one. So far, I've been scared off by the reviewers who claim the mats made their pain even worse than it was already. Negative reviews are definitely in the minority, though. Most people seem to love them and a lot of them talk about feeling the sense of tranquility that you describe.
