I have drank yerba mate tea but never smoked it. The tea is great and gives good energy.

Smoked Mate means that they smoke the leaves over hardwood, giving them a smoky flavor when you brew it. It doesnt mean smoking the leaves as method of ingestion. I thought the same thing too when I first heard the term.

I was steeping Yerba mate for awhile and bought a huge bag on Amazon I haven't opened yet. It's not as stimulating as I expected and it steeps very mild, I like strong tea, but it's supposed to be good for you except if it's smoked, can be harmful to the liver if drinking the smoked leaf tea long-term. I also have kratom crushed leaf, a sample pack of YLYL blended teas and some mulungu I need to try. I've been drinking black Chai tea so behind on my brewing the other stuff but Yerba mate is good, also comes in cans with flavoring added like iced tea.

had same idea, thought was inhaled until just now. I drank a bottle of tea and the taste was very offputting.
