Thanx for looking out for us, HH :D . I have been checking back every few hours on the Off Topic Board "Coronavirus Discussion" to keep abreast of your own situation. All I can say is "Bless You" for taking the time to look in on us <3.

I can only speak for myself at 10:101 p.m., but I am so depressed that I would love to go to sleep just so that I can be somewhere else. I started feeling this way about 7:30 p.m. I had been relying on (mostly red) kratom for my pain but I guess I didn't realize how much it was also helping my depression. Really helping. OR. Maybe this project is just throwing me into just another kind of grief because Monday seems like an eternity away? I can't tell, but I hurt.
Then again, if the house caught on fire, I'm pretty sure that I would be able to get my butt out of here. Maybe my Guy's butt too  ? He weighs twice as much but I have dragged a walnut dresser up two flights of stairs too  .

So I'm here. I'm thinking about everyone else. I hope if they aren't fine & fine they'll let us know.

I'm going to eat a meal, maybe take some Naproxen and Go. To . Sleep :D

Never believe that there isn't SOMEONE who doesn't care. We would all be surprised. Thank you, HH.

Good morning everyone. I’ve been up since 3 with these dam steroids. I didn’t check in last night as I finally got sleepy and took advantage of it. Hope everyone is doing well and got some sleep last night. My taper isn’t going too well as I had a total of 7grams yesterday. Hope everyone else is doing better than me.

I'm sorry your pain was so bad, Mycat, and that you lost sleep because of it :(

I feel bad now that I didn't give pain-sufferers enough time to prepare for a tolerance break. My situation is pretty straightforward. I'm fairly uneducated about other kinds of pain and how people have to deal with it.

So, please, don't YOU feel bad. Pain is so incredibly stressful, which so many drs. don't seem to comprehend. If you can't function then I would hope you would take advantage of the kratom. That could easily have been my situation. I think you are very brave to take on a challenge like this, and you have taught me something too. I can't tell you how much that means to me. From reading these forums I learn that everyone has their dose, their 'ceiling'. I surpassed mine, so I needed an adjustment.

Maybe keep working toward a goal, but slowly this time? Thanks for staying by my side through this very strange experiment.
I have about 14 hours to go, but I'm almost tempted to go a little longer. I slept badly too, which is why I napped all afternoon.

I'm learning some things from this experiment. Unfortunately, it grieves me when I realize that Kratom will never CURE my condition or make my pain go away permanently. It only masks it so that I can try to live normally. Getting older can be downright terrifying and some people in distress are still pretty young.
I have learned that a surprising lot of my pain can be the result of FEAR. Stress and anticipation that I'm going to hurt makes it sharper. I have been working on this over the past few days. I have trouble finding calm. When it comes to writing, I'm terribly out of practice, but posting here calms me down a lot, and I'm able to gain some focus. Since I'm fabricating nothing, I have to 'be real' and being honest helps me to discover what IS going on as opposed to what I'm afraid MIGHT be going on.

So thank you all for giving me this platform to try something 'out loud' I'm not used to 'putting myself out there' in social media (and that's how it''s gonna stay  ).

So if anyone wants to talk about their T-Break or anything else on the subject (or even beyond it) feel free! There are just no words to describe my gratitude. I wonder if I could have done this alone. I didn't have to. I trusted you to help me be accountable and, whether you know it or not, you did. I didn't want to be alone. I wasn't. I was afraid. You gave me courage.

So don't ever let me forget it!!!! :D  ;)

Mild exercise, like walking, directly influences mood and makes it a ton easier to sleep, esp. if you get restless legs. Just get that sheen of sweat and heart pumping just a little, and you're on your way to a better rest of your day. Even better is if you take a lukewarm shower right after and feel oh so clean. Cold shower if you can take it... somedays i'm too chicken to go with a full on cold shower, lol.

I absolutely agree with you! For 38 years my only addiction WAS exercise. I think I had a tendency to go too far though :? Sounds like an addiction.
You're right. Yesterday I put on some music and did some of my old dance moves. Things hurt afterward and I was sweaty but I was also HAPPY. Thanks for the words. I'm feeling pretty low right now. I guess it's time to warm up a bit :D

Greyfeather, don't feel bad at all! We knew what we were talking on, and it was worth it to support you! A lot of us are also using kratom to just try to get by, get as close to normal as possible, so a little taper / break will help in the long run!

I wish I could say that I've got the willpower to keep going, but the flareups have me resigned to take a break from the break. it was nice to have support, friends who understand, and motivation to do this.

I think it was a great experiment, and it gives me a sense of pride that I could hold out this long. Thank you for reminding me just how incredible kratom is!

Jestrice, you are so kind :D .

You're generous and game for anything. I see you help folks out here every day; thank you for helping me too.

Yeah, next time maybe I shouldn't call it a "challenge" , but that's what the 'kids' are calling everything. Now that I think of it, I don't recall I've ever seeing a 'media challenge' that didn't involve some pranking and that sure as hell isn't what this is about.

I very much appreciate you keeping an eye out for me/us and it's especially nice that you joined in. Oooo, I don't know where you get all of your energy, but it is contagious :D

9 hours to go and then I'm getting out my scale and some kratom and I'll have TWO grams like the good old days. It will have been nearly 3 days and I would very much like to have that honeymoon!

Thanks all, much love. If anyone wants company for a break down the road, I'm here for you! :D

I didn't think about the whole "challenge" aspect, lol. Darn kids...

Thank you. I try to be helpful, but I definitely don't feel like I have that much patience - or energy, for that matter!

I really like this thread. Wish I was brave enough to take an impromptu break with you but I’m not quite there yet. Hopefully next time (if there is a next time). I can see how having the accountability and support of others here would be a real game changer. So, thanks for doing this. Even if I’m not participating with you, I’m encouraged by reading about what you’ve been going through and the resolve you have. Those yawny, sneezy, runny eye/nose mornings have been enough to make me balk at steeling myself for a break. But I know how badly I need one and the disservice I’ve been doing to the great leaf I have by allowing my tolerance to undermine its quality.

Anywho, great job on the three days!

Good morning everyone ! I hope y’all’s first post taper burn is awesome. You deserve it. Seeing everyone’s kind and supportive words to each other was pretty amazing. I wish I had the ability to express just how much.
Unfortunately my taper didn’t go too well. Ended up taking more than I normally do lol. But it made me realize what I’ve been doing. I’ve been increasing my Tramadol intake in under to keep my Kratom intake at 10gpd or less. How insane is that ? So at the risk of blowing up my tolerance once again, I’m going to start trying for three 4g servings a day. When I was on this regimen before I seldom needed any Tramadol. I’m just not exactly sure how I got myself to this point.
Greyfeather thank you for initiating this challenge. And thank you Jess, Dot , Zach and everybody else who has been joining in and been so supportive. It’s been a great learning experience

Also a shout out to Ace, HH, Burninator, dear friend, Madvillain, Granny, LuckyHerbals,D_B_C, and all of you kratomites out there following along.

And, bless me, but I forgot to mention the MM member who inspired me to take a T-break in the first place. That's YOU Ballzdeep. Your very (very  ) frequent reminders to put on the brakes or do a taper weren't lost on me. One of the first posts I read here was yours: with a reminder to get a scale and pay attention to those grams, lol. Yes, we ARE listening ;) So, here's to you, friend. It was worth it.

It was VERY worth it. Not fun, not looking forward to doing it again but - hell yes - I'm enjoying my second burn in the past 12 hours! I dug into my precious horde of TFH and decided on the Wild Red Kampung I purchased during the Open Event in July. The reviews for it were super; I was afraid it would go fast, so I got quite a bit of it. And it is divine.

I broke my kratom fast at 2 in the morning (I started it at two a.m. Friday). I had been ok for most of the three days. Sometimes the pain is bad, sometimes not so bad. The weather affects it, my sleep (or lack of), state of mind. By the time 2 a.m. rolled around I was mentally in a dark place and everything hurt. We all know what it's like to endure a hardship with fortitude but, when the end of that short or long haul is in sight, we find ourselves letting the pain in. I tried to distract myself until two o'clock. When it arrived I was honestly a little afraid. Would the kratom even work? I measured out exactly 2 grams, closed my eyes and waited. It didn't take long. That "warmth" so many of you mention - I felt that all over, especially in my brain. It felt like a warm, silky balm was being slowly poured over my brain. I focus a lot on the physical effects of kratom, but this time I was more attentive to the mental effects and I my appreciation for this leaf has increased exponentially. The pain diminished. I was calm. I felt like a Buddha - peaceful, relaxed, aware of the worlds infinite troubles but willing to let them be for a while. An hour later I had a small meal and went to bed. I had a beautiful dream. I don't know what it is about kratom and sleep, but my dream 'narratives' are so much more positive (even pleasurable) since I started gifting myself with this plant. I admit I slept late. I got up at noon and then at 2 p.m. I had another serving. And, folks, it's true. In fact, I think that I'm enjoying the qualities of this red strain even more than when I started because I stumbled into my kratom life clumsily, without a sense of appreciation. I'm not taking it for granted now :D

I would love to hear more about your experiences. I'm sold on the idea of tapers, even though I haven't tried that. I don't think cold turkey is the only way. But tapers enjoy a good deal of success with other substances. So if this 'challenge' didn't fit for you I think you can achieve your goals. Again, I didn't give people time to prepare. Mental preparation is an important element. So I am super proud of everyone who joined in, and I'm grateful for all of the support. My life isn't 'perfect' now   , but it feels a whoooooole lot better.

Bless everyone here <3

I've been taking kratom for about 10 years and something I've found very helpful in making tolerance breaks smooth and effective is to have some good kava and jack herrer on hand (i like kava kauai instant) and to preload with stuff like dopa mucuna, 5-htp (always with food! it can cause ulcers on an empty stomach, bad times man), EGCG, theanine, fish oil, ashwaghanda and bifidus probiotics for about 2 weeks prior. Heck, just taking those things for a few weeks on and off helps keep my burns fresh.

I've been lurking and tapering all weeekend to get my tolerance down for a vacation on Wednesday morning. I have had awful burns for the last like year and dealing with my tolerance. So I decided to get aggressive, knock back some magnesium, turmeric, and agmatine at night time, and pray. I used to be 6-7g 3x per day. Got down to 4-4.5g 2x a day and 6g 1x per day. Today was 3g per day dose and 5.5 at night tonight. Feeling okay. tomorrow I'm going to go for 2.5g in the morning, 3g in the afternoon, and 5g at night for my last day before vacation. Hoping when I hit my old 4.5-5g green burn wednesday morning it puts me at ease on the plane. Once I am back I am going to restart this taper and do it right. I hope everyone made it through alright!

Does anyone have a T Break that is considerably shorter than 30 days? I primarily use Kratom for chronic pain from a beast of a congenital disease I’m trying to manage. It works well for that, but I don’t feel the same mood effects that I used to, but still, I know with a T break that pain will return in full force, and the depression will come. Even if I don’t feel it, Kratom manages my depression and anxiety. Thank you, miracle plant.

I was wondering if a small break would have any difference do you think? As in 1-3 days. I might only be able to get through 1 day, but I know I can lead up to a taper by having one dose in a day of particularly strong Kratom. My Kratom doesn’t play around and is strong as possible. That is how high my tolerance is. I’ve taken Kratom multiple times daily for a bit over five years. Had to go without it at the end of the month a few times, until some members from this amazing community donated some spare Kratom so that on my budget (disabled) I didn’t run out at the end of the month before my disability kicked in for the next month. I had a severe budget—I still do and just try to order things I know are very very strong—and it gets me through, or I still have the luxury of generosity—those donations of Kratom that prevent what happened.

I think I’m answering my own question about T Breaks because when I ran out, I was screaming into a pillow and punching the bed it hurt so much. I am lucky to not realize how bad my condition has gotten, because when I ran out at the end of those months, the pain crept back until it was full force and I was bloody astounded that it had gotten this bad. I need to thank this community for helping that never happen again. I know how bad it has gotten, but Kratom is so wonderful that I have no idea how bad it could be. Okay, skipping a T Break and might look into potentiators that actually work. Years ago, people suggested grapefruit juice (which is what I take mine with) but random other stuff, like Tagamet or something. Maybe it’s real. Maybe I won’t get that newlywed feeling again with Kratom unless I end up in the hospital and they give me Tylenol for the pain. Pretty sure here if you get into a horrific car crash, they give you a gabapentin and a Priest. When I went to the ER for a bad Cellulitis infection, I packed a kit of Kratom because sure enough, it was two massive bottles of antibiotics and a prescription for Aleve. While I waiting to be released, I whipped myself up a Kratom and was relieved. Not that I don’t trust prescription pain medicine, but no one in the chronic pain community seems to get it. I try to talk about Kratom, but I know what they want, and it isn’t that.

I found this looking up TFH’s Red Kampung because it’s something I wish to order. Congratulations on you guys taking T breaks, some smaller, some 30 days (good god!) and cheers to the ones who tried and flunked as well. The thought was there, or at least that’s what I keep telling myself.

I am going to be tapering myself down until next Tuesday when my order from denette comes in I have been having major tolerance issues for awhile now. Some times I will have killer burns for a day or two straight but for the most part lately most days I just have been having relatively mild effects. I see people talking about 30 day breaks, but I just dont know if I can go that long. Has anyone been able to tell a very noticeable difference after just a 2 to three day break? I have some anxiety issues as well as a nagging back injury that i sustained many years ago working at FedEx.

I've gone on tolerance breaks that have lasted about a week each time, but it didn't seem long enough to make a real difference. But I just recently took three days CT off without tapering, it only sucked a little. Mainly some restlessness and overall apathy but nothing intolerable. but this time it really seemed to help. I was able to lower my dose by several grams. Of course, getting in some bomb leaf after a short break definitely helps things.

I'd like to take a break for longer, but Kratom is very beneficial to me for multiple reasons, mainly post op pain and low mood, and as long as it does what I want it to do, I don't think a break is really needed. Reading the posts on r/quittingkratom is just ridiculous sometimes. The withdrawal is mostly mental, some of these people treat it like they had a serious drug problem and are experiencing agonizing symptoms.

yup, my tolerance ramps up quick, hard to ever hit the combo of the right amount of specific brand of powder and the time from my last successful burn to get a good burn.

Just finished a tbreak over the weekend with greyfeather, and took one yesterday until today, finally getting a nice experience. I'd say three or four days is a good reset.

Also, the problem with me isn't withdrawal symptoms, it's just not doing the ritual of powder and my mind thinking i need to dose and chase a buzz.

I may try 3 or 4 days of just 2 to 3 grams a dose twice a day or something, the ritual is definitely a problem for me too buddy and chasing a mild buzz. Ive been burning about 6 to 7 grams at least 3 times a day for years now with no break. It still always boosts my mood and energy/ helps me sleep depending on the strain but I just rarely get that holy shit this is great burn anymore

I’m finding this thread to be entirely refreshing.

Lately my kratom burns work.....until they don’t work. Sometimes I dose and all is fine in the world. Sometimes I dose just to limp to my next one.

Who are these supermen and superwomen on MeWe who can get 4 quality burns each day? What are they doing that I’m not?
At some point I think the hype machine becomes less and less helpful. Instead of chasing the next great alkaloid profile, maybe I need to be chasing more helpful information, like what I’m reading here.

I've been reading some r/quittingkratom for entertainment. Someone just posted there that quit that claimed to take as much as 150 grams per day. I've never heard of that before, that's quite impressive....I thought 40 grams per day was bad. And then he blames the plant...

this was an excellent idea for a thread greyfeather. my favorite 'tool' for anything challenging in life is support from others. and an important component of good support is from those who have been there, or are currently there. I'm sure a lot of us get to that point where we know we need to change things up with how often and/or how much we are dosing. usually when it's just not working quite right and we know it can/should be even better. 16 months into the blessings of our miracle leaf, and I am there now. it's 'ok,' but I know it can and should be better.

I've been afraid to take a break... and have not taken one day off since the day I first started. I've watched my gpd go up at some points and have been pretty successful in bringing it back down. I'm currently between 2-4 grams per dose 4-5 times a day. averaging 3g, 4 times a day. not horrible, but I know I would greatly benefit from giving my body a break and starting fresh. I'd like to be at 3-4g, 3 times a day. going longer between doses seems to be my biggest challenge and what I would like to improve.

b u t, before that first wonderful day of relief, I was in excruciating pain, throughout my entire body, 24/7, with debilitating fatigue. I could barely move without crying and struggled to get off the couch. for. two. years. I did it. I had to. but it was unbearable. I never want to feel that way again. I still have my not-so-good days, but even those days are exponentially better than my best days before.

with this in mind, when contemplating a real break... at least 3 days, hopefully a week... I've been thinking I can do it WITH the assistance of alternative herbs and supplements. I've tried hirsuta and it is VERY similar to kratom. I also plan to try javanica, akuamma seed, blue lotus, and kava. I really think, with a full toolbox, I can do it. I'd like to do it soon, but need to stock up on my tools first.

I think it would be awesome if we can keep this thread alive for whoever decides to take a break and would like the support of others who've been there or are currently going thru it. I can post when I have my stock ready and my mind set to do it. hopefully within a week or two. if there's anyone else who wants to get some 'tools' and try it with me :)

congratulations on your amazing success greyfeather! you must be so proud of yourself. I'm proud of you <3

After taking my 3-day cold turkey break, I just want to say that the withdrawal symptoms are mainly mental. I anticipated that it was going to be really bad and uncomfortable, but it turned out to be very mild and bearable instead. don't be afraid to take a few days off it's not as bad as you might think it will be, you just have to get out of the frame of mind of dosing every few hours. When I stopped, the first morning when I woke up and didn't have any kratom really stressed me out at first, but once I woke up and walked around and got coffee I was feeling more or less fine. The symptoms really are not that bad, and I was taking over 15 to 20 grams a day. Basically I'm just saying to not let the fear of not having kratom in your system be the reason why you don't want to go without it for even one day. In my experience, the anticipation of quitting is worse than the actual action.
