Tea recipes

Post by Fbarone1992 »

Lets here your best tea recipes this is mine:Ok heres a recipe for someone just slapping something together or if your terrible at math. My recipe will also be a sample of what i do and what works for me. This doesn't mean my recipe is better than its just eyeballing nd house hold stuff.

Things needed: 50 grams of kratom (or whatever your desired amount is), a measuring cup, a stove top pot (size depending on amount used),a scale, water, lemon juice or lime juice ,fresh oranges or apple cider vinegar will all work because you want to lower the ph in your water (science stuff🤣), containers for transferring and filtering aswell as a container for storing it (i use a big plastic bowl and a juice container , a spoon, and this is optional a filter (use an old pillow case or reusable filter) and a thermometer also optional.

1. Put pot on stove2.measure out 1 cup of water per each 5 grams of powder you are using 3.pour water into pot4.add your choice of citrus i use 1/2 cup of lemon juice and a few tablespoons of apple cider vinegar. I only put in half of the acids at first (-optional)I add acids before turning on heat source.5.weigh out your product 6.turn stove top on full blast7.dump powder into water immediately after turning on stove8. I dont stir it i just let the heat dissolve it9. come to a hard boil approx 212° for 2.5 mins ( you have to pay attention here or you risk a boil over) you can lift it up and turn heat down to a simmer no bubbles approximately 180-200°10. Do not let boil over11. Simmer for about
60 minutes at 190-200° 12. Once 60 minutes is up you can add more water if needed ( i always measure beginning amount of liquid and ending amount of liquid) and add water to make it your original amount of liquid or a tad more.13. Let it go for about
Another 60 minutes. 14.After 2 hours total cook time its done. 15. Take it off heat and Let it cool and settle.16. Pour off top tea layer into container and pour remains into filter17. If you dont have filter you can use an old tshirt18.twist and squeeze the cloth to get everything (optional) any questions let me know

Unfortunately I don't think it's wise to follow anyone else's recipes to the letter when they're specifying the amount of grams to use. Just a quick poke around the forums will show that everyone's optimal dosage will vary, sometimes greatly! So I hope that people whose dosage for tea isn't 5g per cup of water knows to adjust accordingly rather than just following what works for someone else's body.

Hey! Thank You for this great Recipe! I wish we had more of these, home Extract recipes, even Cookie recipes lol :P

This all sounds pretty good. I bet the Tea is nice and strong. Two hours simmer time, seems long but 1+ hour yes, the plant material is tough. Acid is needed, for sure, Lemon = Citric acid and ACV (Apple Cider Vinegar) = Acetic acid. Both are good. I bought a bag of pure, food grade, Citric Acid powder from Amazon it's really cheap... Questions about How Much ? acid - and How Hot ? the water, I think we've all been eye balling this... Alkaloids, Mitragynine, IS degraded from too much acid, so its pH value X hours or Time... same with temperature. To reach Boiling at 212º for a minute, OK however as you point out, lower down to simmer right away. The 7-OH alkaloids are especially sensitive to high heat! (Why its hard to make Kratom Cookies!)

Here is the Science Paper (Published: 02 January 2020 :: Basiliere & Kerrigan) Temperature and pH-Dependent Stability of Mitragyna Alkaloids - Article LINK - a very interesting study, soaking kratom in pure Lemon juice for too long, could weaken the Mitragynine - what I do, is after making my Tea and cooling down - Add baking soda to raise pH. Only a pinch, or here maybe < 1/8 tsp will bring pH up from super acidic 3.5 - to around 5.0 for storing a couple days in fridge.

People should try this Tea Recipe!! :geek: I now consume my daily Kratom as Red Bubble Tea (with the plant matter sludge) Mixed half n half w/ Filtered Tea. Having more alkaloids / less "sludge" just seems to work for a cleaner stronger Kratom feel. For a small batch, 10 oz water the Aeropress is great to filter the mud very quick & easy... For larger batch, yes the filter part can be a hassle I've tried the "T Shirt" method, I got a T-shirt full of Tea... lol

For cross Reference, here is another Recipe posted for Aeropress Tea, it's long! 5 pages. viewtopic.php?f=7&t=4847

I never been big on kratom tea but I do enjoy red bubble occasionally now. I just heat the water to about 190 then pour it into a solo cup full of kratom, and lemon juice then let sit covered for at least half a hour lastly freezing overnight. I then usually microwave at very low heat to get it loose out the cup then pop it into a pan the melt it completely bringing the temperature to about 190 again then pour into cup add sugar, or honey. I almost forgot I always filter with an aero press before I add anything to it. You can add ice like I do then drink it right away. I let a cup completely evaporate one time, and it had lots of black sludge so I’m pretty sure it extracts the material very well.
