How long should I wait between doses if I want to taper down my kratom intake?

Post by marknoyes »

My goal is to go a few days without kratom. I know it depends on how many grams per day I take and how often but I haven't been to be honest, i haven't been able to commit to keeping track of how often and how much I take. How long would you recommend waiting in between doses for a discomfort-free taper?

Any other tips would be super helpful!

Go as long as you can with out kratom, and take very little kratom to reduce discomfort, then continue with out it and continue using very little kratom if can't handle it. If you can handle it, it will be more harsh but doable. Best to go 4 full days with no kratom. usually if you dose multiple times a day everyday, when stop, you still in twilight zonefor 1 or 2 days before kratom WD's kick in. Not always but most times it happens. You might leave a comment that you had no WD's stopping but on 2nd day they start to creep up. Like always any herbal drinks will reduce wd's. Plain chamomiles should do the trick but make it strong and sleep trough wd's. If dont need sleep, you can do peppermint, lemon grass or what ever tea you got, even green tea. Now thats what i would do. Others use more weaker over the counter stuff, but if you got only kratom, use very little of it when need most.

I think you shouldn't go a day without kratom AT ALL. From an article that I read, it's best to reduce your intake .5 - 1 gram. That way you wouldn't have to feel discomfort.

I've heard of a few different methods for a taper.

1) you should take smaller doses more often. Say you take 6 grams twice a day, you should start taking 3 grams four times a day. After you get used to that, you should reduce by 1/3 every week. So week one is 3x4, week two is 2x4, week three is 1x4, then you can start spreading em out, 1x3, or 1x2. Then you can cold turkey from 2-3 gpd and have minimal WDs. I like this one because for some reason it makes it easier to stick to. I cannot just reduce my normal doses, unless I know I have more frequent doses coming.

2) immediately drop down to 1 gram doses (or whatever minimum amount you need just to stop withdrawals) for a week or so.

3) switch to stem and leaf for a bit. Idk anything about this one but a few of the vendors I like always have it in stock.

The important part is keeping track of doses and staying on schedule. Might help to cap it or pre weigh it all before hand so you're not tempted to go for a normal dose when you break the bag out.

This reddit post has helped me a lot in the past, and may have something that can help you if for some reason you can't avoid WD's : https://www.reddit.com/r/kratom/wiki/qu ... d_tapering
