Sickness and Kratom

Post by Kelleytoons »

There was another thread about folks either asking or remarking about Kratom working when they were sick and I thought I'd relate this story from yesterday, FWIW.

I *think* I got food poisoning - I ate some chicken from the deli (and gave some to our cat, who promptly threw it up, but dear wife didn't want any) and 30 minutes later I got diarrhea and then got VERY bad chills (so bad I could not get warm even with an electric blanket) and this entire very old body hurt all over like I've NEVER experienced (even touching my skin was agony - I took a hot shower but the water droplets hitting my skin were like acid - and it wasn't the heat of the water, just the pressure of the showerhead tearing the skin off of me). After three or four hours of agony (where wife and I debated over taking me to the hospital - I was that sick and in pain) I decided to take some Kratom even though I was also extremely nauseous (I thought if I threw it up I'd throw it up). I was too weak and in too much pain to even get it but had my DW go fetch the most powerful Kratom I have in my inventory, the Herbal RVA Red Bali, and I took 3 grams.

It was a gamble but after an hour (these were capsules) the pain went completely away and I fell into a deep, blissful sleep. I slept through the night, but this morning, at 6am I took a Denette grean (sorry, don't remember which one right at the moment, although I'll look it up if someone really wants to know) and now (two hours later) I'm floating along, feeling just wonderful. I seem to be completely recovered but the best part was I have ZERO pain (which, given how much pain this old is normally in all the time is pretty amazing).

I was supposed to play tennis this morning but last night I cancelled (obviously) - however, I feel like I could play, now. Will rest the remainder of the day but I truly think Kratom saved me a trip to the ER.

My buddy and I got food poisoning once from a Chinese restaurant. We both woke up the next morning and started puking. Was not a fun time. We spent the whole day puking, laying around on the couch, watching movies, and puking some more.

Glad to hear you’re feeling better!

Yep. I have a story on here from a couple of months ago when I got.food.poisoning.and kratom seemed to be literally fighting it until it was gone. Let's just say I was wheelbarrowing wheelbarrows full of concrete ALL DAY LONG whilst in the midst of pretty bad food poisoning. Hard to "placebo" that situation.

Its amazing shit, there is no doubt about that. Maybe that's why they "don't study it" ? If you're busy making billions on your versions of "the answer," you'd probably wanna nix THE answer. I know I suffered a LONG TIME (like nearly a decade) trying to quit opioids (that cycle! Most of you know the one.) and once I found kratom (NO THANKS TO THE GOVERNMENT, but MANY thanks to my friend Tom RIP) , I don't even get cravings anymore. Or those fucking DOPE DREAMS! Remember trying to figure out how you were going to get money for a bag or two because you "needed" it? Or divying out your money to rent, bills, and dope and somehow the dope pile of money starts slowly eating the other piles? Yeah, me either.
Still, of course, everyone is still wary of kratom and nobody I know will even try it.for head and body aches because it's a "research chemical" or whatever.

PS if it.really fights ACTIVE FOOD POISONING (which, to me, seemed like exactly what it was doing,,) just IMAGINE what other amazing things it's doing for your body!

I agree 100%. I was taking WAY too much opioids (all prescribed legally, but still dozens of pills each week) and completely stopped once I found Kratom. My wife was even getting concerned about my drinking every day (which has stopped as well - now I drink some wine once a week whereas I was drinking a LOT to help with the pain).

My biggest fear is Kratom will get taken away (I don't trust the government at all) but at my age I most likely have enough to last (and I keep buying. Sigh). Wonderful, amazing leaf.

They have exhausted their legal and semi-legal methods of illegalizing it, and even lied SO MUCH about it's "death toll" (like pot though, it would take a crate of it falling out of a FEDEX plane and hitting you for it to kill you) much to their chagrin, it's looking like it's here to stay. And if they DO illegalize it, I have enough to last me a WHILE, I was just telling elbandito the other day that it's been a really long time since I've bought any, except from him, and he almost never has reds, but when he does I try to jump on em. I'm going through my stuff today, I can't really do greens anymore, so I'm going to trade off some of my special stuff (Wild Kali SG for instance) for DENETTE REDS ONLY. Haha! My body really likes his reds for whatever reason.

Yeah, as soon as Denette gets back from vaca (actually, I think he got back yesterday but I'll wait until tomorrow to let him decompress) I'm going to buy some of his best reds. I just need to find out which ones.

And that may be all I buy for quite some time. Unless someone mentions something great here. Sigh.

I recently picked up his Red Thai-SK9 and it is some of the best red I’ve had in a long long time. Beautiful bright green in color with excellent results!

I traded some TFH greens for some of that. I've found it really nice BUT better as a second dose of the day rather than first.

Most of us "regular" folks - have issues with kratom & constipation - People who often get diarrhea (IBD, Inflammatory Bowel Disease, etc), find that Kratom has a wonderful, healing, effect on their gut... STOPS those "runs" & plant material firms up loose stools ...

Kratom = better than Kaopectate! 🤩

I think because I've always been "regular" and because, at least nowadays, my dosage is so low (no more than around 30 grams per week spread out with no dose greater than 3 grams) Kratom doesn't affect my gut much at all. I could be wrong but it just doesn't seem to. As I've said elsewhere, I eat a TON of fiber and drink lots of water to avoid those kinds of issues.

I could see if folks dosed higher they might very well end up with problems, though.
