The Meaning of Foam
[ Edit: to add context.. I am not just being silly here but I do try to make things fun because - why not? I have a dry sense of humor. That might be why possibility of purpose can be overlooked. ]
Does kratom foam have meaning or is the only meaning it has, bestowed by the observer?
You might have read posts about the Red Bubble (intriguing but labor intensive freezer method)
Beyond that I don't think we talk much about bubbles in here. So here's an oppty. to do that.
If you'd asked me I'd have said it's alkaloids causing that. Same re: streaking.. that oil slick that gathers at the surface. Technically though, I'd have to admit I'm assuming.
A more obvious way would be in a closed bottle that's shaken. Typically there's plenty of foam in there if you do that.
Are there some varieties that, when mixed with say,, plain water... may fail to give rise to- bubble cluster island near the center? (a swish may be required)
Any experience with something like that- that you're willing to share?
Is kratom foam evidence of anything or some kind of message? If it talks to you, what does it say?
I'm trying to challenge assumptions to see what can turn up. Might it depend on other factors unrelated to kratom alkaloids? (detergent! good call. Anything else?)

Great post. I love the tone. Will be following throughout the weekend with nothing to contribute.

Me too. I use oblates but it's interesting that foam could contribute to contemplation and interpretation. My guess it has more to do with whatever liquid you mix with your kratom more than kratom itself and how hard you shake it. I never tried it with chocolate milk but when I visualize it there's a good amount of tantalizing foam on top.

I read my foam like it’s tea leaves. Doesn’t everyone?

That only works on a full moon, as far as I can tell.Greenmonster wrote: ↑Fri Jul 22, 2022 4:14 pm I read my foam like it’s tea leaves. Doesn’t everyone?
MAYBE one day before or one day after.

Re: The Meaning of Foam
The last 2 days I mixed 3 separate doses in 3 separate cups. Same amount of powder weighed for each one. 4 grams.
The volume of water doesn’t seem to matter but came from the same pot it was boiled in and it was filtered first.
Same amount of apple cider vinegar, 1tsp.
No foam until I add the baking soda to nutralize the acid/PH. Both mornings now I get a different amount of foam in each cup. 1 would have very little foam, just a slight film. Another would have about 1/4inch and the other somewhere in between.
So in this case, there is an obvious chemical reaction going on when adding the soda.
I’m not sure what the variant is at this point but I plan to take measurements to ensure consistency in the amounts of each ingredient and start with sterilized hardware. Weigh each ingredient and inspect for viscosity, density and granularity.
I’m curious if there is inconsistency within the same batch of leaf powder. The potency feels constant with each dose.
Practice makes…
I’m curious to see if we get the answer in this thread?

Thanks for the interested reply. Experimentation often leads to discovery although there is no need to make it complicated in order to have great success unless the plant matter irritates your stomach and you are trying to get as much out of the powder as you can. Not to discourage experimentation and innovation though. I got into some complexity myself. All of my doses are rather complex blends and that works best for me. Also haven't increased my level in over 5 years, multi dosing daily. No need so blending and rotating make a difference as does adhering to the Target Dose- the one that works reliably using the least amount required to do that. It doesn't fade unless doses are crammed close together constantly.X-Pup wrote: ↑Fri Jul 22, 2022 10:23 pm The last 2 days I mixed 3 separate doses in 3 separate cups. in plain cold water, as I and others have noted at times over the years, kratom alks do bubble. not like seltzer bubbles, like cacao does (even in water or coffee) or coffee when it's finely ground and saturated in water, or fluid is forced through it like espresso or turkish coffee (using hot oil) It creates a sudzy kind of foam. It's the same stuff you see floating on the surface that looks like oil. Maybe a streak across the top. It does not mix evenly with water. If it is absent, then it's very likely that you don't have much in the way of alkaloids in your powder. What you noted might be a bit different than what I'm referring to but I'm not sure.
edit- forgot to mention that consistency through batches can definitely vary- more often in the large packs that fill the bags sent to us but they can vary in smaller containers as well. I don't notice that either and as seasons and personal circumstances change - so do the effects we experience. That's a reason why I ended up with a system for blending. I just steer it around to go where I want it to as fast or slow as I'd like.

Re: The Meaning of Foam
LOL, no foam this morning. I just threw it in my coffee and slugged it down.
I'll have to monitor if there's a difference between foam and no foam day's.
