Urine test. .kratom detected

Post by Catcrazy »

Soooooo very surprised when I was meeting with my fairly new therapist, I had just started seeing in October of 2022. At that initial consultation, I was first brought in by an assistant that checked my vitals, no problems there, then I was asked to give a urine test which I was like... why? Routine procedure for a new patient... was my answer. I didn't really give it a thought till I was sitting in the therapist's office, and at the end of 15 minutes, she asked me if I took Kratom. I was offended to be asked such a question because it's really none of her business, and secondly after 4 months have past since giving the test....., your only telling me one result from my urine test?? Wtf? So she continued to ask me if I was addicted, I'm very pissed at this point so I tell her that Kratom is not illegal so why are you asking? She clearly knew NOTHING of Kratom and so handed me an article about the "Dangers of Kratom", seriously, you prescribe medications to people and you have NO IDEA of the contents, long term or short term effects, yet you hand me crap written by some pharmaceutical mongrel.... that probably manufactures pain killers that DO KILL people.
Sorry for the rant and rave but I had to share because ignorance is not bliss! Sadly the medical industry lacks the research behind the many beneficial, positive effects of Kratom.
More and more people every day are taking Kratom that is clearly better than any overpriced, expensive prescription. Frankly, 4 years ago, I had cartilage missing from in between my two vertebrae, I believe 7&8.. my back hurt, a lot. I was an avid jogger, and a teacher, who never sat at all during the day, still don't.. My options were to put a rod in, or deal with the pain. I chose the pain, had a couple injections that didn't work, took a year off from jogging, and was prescribed "norco" medication for pain, and ibuprofen through out the day. I felt like crap and not myself. So in 2020, after much research, found Kratom. Needless to say, it works, and makes my every day life pleasant again. I am very thankful for what Kratom has offered me. Thanks for listening to my story. Have a good night!!

Sorry that happened and speaking of misinformation, I was just searching the forum for info to confirm or refute the following quote from an interaction I just had on FB. I have heard others say kratom does not suppress the CNS or breathing but if taken with painkillers the main problem is canceling each other out. I've also heard others say they take xanax no problem. I take xanax every nite. I'm just wondering if this is misinformation or I'm uninformed. I do agree kratom would get the blame if someone died, I just never heard the combination in any amount was dangerous.

Quote: "it is EXTREMELY dangerous to combine narcotics or anything like x@n@x with kratom...you can ask any vendor. I thought it was common knowledge among the kratom community. Taking anything that suppresses the central nervous system with kratom can ultimately lead to d3ath. It's is very much unsafe. I've seen people who choose to do it anyway and it's really not a wise decision. Especially when states are already trying to make kratom illegal. If someone were to d1e while on x@n@x or a narcotic along with kratom, kratom would get the blame 100%. If we want to keep it legal, we have to be smart about it. " Unquote

To Catcrazy, FUCK YES! Every word is absolutely true. I agree with you and western medical treatments are rooted in PROFITS not the patient.

To Lokey, I would NEVER recommend mixing drugs of any kind and when I sold those things when I was a much younger person, like DECADES ago, i made my friends PROMISE thry wouldnt mix the pills with alcohol. Did they? No idea. I never did, but I will say that nowadays, I take kratom regularly and I carry an Ativan for when my brain snowballs into something really horrible. It's the only thing that works. I ALWAYS have one in my pocket at all times, but I've taken three so far this year. It's not something I usually take, and in fact, when I DO take them, it makes all kratom slow, which I really hate.
So I DO mix them in emergencies, but I would recommend against it.

Unfortunately, one of the things (for good or bad - these are always double edged swords) the internet has done is make us aware of information that the people we used to formerly think of as "experts" are completely wrong or ignorant about. Doctors are a prime example that in the past were basically thought of as Gods, and their word was absolute. We now know very differently, that much of what a lot of them say or think is complete crap, and there are MANY times we can be far more informed than they ever were.

In general I think this is a good thing - we certainly gave doctors WAY too much power in dealing with our health, and being proactive in our own body care is paramount anyway. In the end you are the only one that needs to live in it, so you take what all doctors say with some amount of skepticism and do the research yourself. Let this old man digress for a moment but I promise it will come back on point - when I was having knee surgery two years ago I did the research and found that, almost without exception, the consensus even among the medical community was that having a spinal block was the best anesthesia - you weren't put into deep sleep (thus the risks of that were eliminated) and you "woke up" much faster and without nausea. So when I went in I asked for this and the anesthesiologist at the hospital said "we don't do that here" and proceeded to hook me up and I insisted, and eventually had to get another one who WOULD do it, albeit grudgingly.

Flash forward to now and I am having my other knee done (by the same surgeon and same hospital group) and in class for it and they talk about anesthesia and how they will do it and lo and behold they say they are doing a spinal block because "it's so much better than using general anesthesia". Clearly in the past two years they came to their senses in this particular medical group but... if I hadn't insisted two years previous they would have done it the old way.

So - was I a better "doctor" back then? No, but I certainly was doing the best for this old body, much better than the "experts" would have done. And I think you can draw a clear analogy between our kratom use. We OBVIOUSLY know a LOT more than most in the medical field do about this, because it's not sponsored by Big Pharma and doesn't make them any money. So of course their ignorance is invincible and if it had been me in that therapist office I would have turned right around, walked out of the office and said "clearly you are not the doctor I should be giving my business to". And I would not have given it a second thought.

Thank you to all my friends on this forum!
Never mix anything with just anything! I did my research and learned that there were no interactions with my medications. But when I took Narco for my back, I was extremely nauseous, had an awful headache, and my stomach hurt from all the ibuprofen. I have none of that with kratom.
However, she is just ONE uninformed nurse practitioner, my previous therapist of 16 years was a proponent of natural medicine and encouraged me to use what I needed because I knew my body better than her.... We need more open-minded individuals in this close minded society!
I appreciate all your comments, I feel much better with my own convictions with your vast knowledge and experiences.

Yea, I know it's not good to mix anything if not necessary but I thought from what I've read in all my groups and forums is that if one does mix kratom with painkillers they cancel each other out, not that it could be deadly. I'm not talking about someone trying to get high and taking huge amounts. As for xanax been taking kratom every day for 3 years and a little x at night and heard of others who do too. I've read it's not true (and is just misinformation out there) that kratom suppresses the central nervous system and breathing and this person on FB is saying it does. People have taken kratom up to same day as surgery with general anesthesia and been fine, I have too. Supposed to have a sinus surgery coming up and they do put you out.

I would not at all be worried about taking kratom the night before surgery - however, in my case I'm tapering down so that I will go a week without it by the time of the operation (because I will have a LOT of pain afterwards - been there, done that - and kratom will be a lifesaver afterwards. So I'm optimizing my tolerance beforehand).

I'm down to one dose a day (at night) but I will taper for the next five days until I have none (I won't say it's fun not to take my kratom but it's not awful, either - I could actually stop cold turkey without issues, as I've done it before, but I'm taking no chances this time).

(Very) sadly, the last few years have shown us that the medical / pharmaceutical industry is not our friend. I could go into a ton of detail, but it'd probably just start a big argument here among those who still believe what they're told daily by the MSM and their personal doctors.

Suffice to say that a LOT of people's eyes have been opened in the last couple of years. My current doctor - for the last 10 years - an internist who I had a lot of respect for. I now know she is little but a megaphone for whatever the CDC, the AMA, and Big Pharma tell her to say. I've shown her large, controlled double-blind studies, repeated in numerous places around the world, from respected sources like pub med that refute the official approved party line(s) she spouts, and she just gets a blank look and says things like "That's not true. According to the CDC blah blah blah...".

We're on our own these days, folks. Do your own research, a LOT of it, and don't trust the medical "professionals". Yes, there ARE good doctors still (I know a couple), but most now work directly for hospitals or other conglomerates, and they do what they're told, many because they're afraid they'll lose their jobs if they don't. And an awful lot of the good ones are leaving their practices and retiring (I know a couple of those, too).

I highly recommend building a "doomsday stash" of kratom, just in case. Most of us on this board understand its benefits and its safety, but those aforementioned medical professionals don't, and they WILL believe whatever their Big Pharma / CDC / AMA masters tell them; and even if they know better, they'll do what they're told. And to their masters it's all about $$$, not helping sick or hurting people.

Love what you said here as I said the same to my husband! She's not worth the $300 she gets for 15 minutes, and she types the whole time asking scripted questions. This is also annoying! It is so hard to find good therapists/psychologists/Psychiatrists in this area of South Florida as they are more catered to the elderly.... in my opinion🙄.

Hey - I resemble that remark! <bg> LOL, I'm in central Florida, along with all the rest of us old people, but I try not and act my age.

Count me as another patient who suffered at the hands of useless doctors until I took control of my own problems. I'm healthier now than I have been in many years - and for FAR less money than prescription meds.

I do have a couple of quality doctors now, but I had to go to private practices because hospital systems are not up to date for my autoimmune problems. One of the most respected medical schools / hospital in my state practices methods that are literally decades behind the times. I wasted thousands of dollars and got no noticeable improvement. I probably didn't even need the last spine surgery I had! Our healthcare system in this country is a travesty.

I'm happy I have you fine folks to commiserate with on these sorts of things though. Misery loves company and all that jazz.

Catcrazy... you never can have just one... is my motto!! We have lost our beautiful Bella of 17 years, the day after the Superbowl:(. Sadly Bella was a very strong cat growing up on the streets of Southwest Florida, she loved being outdoors until the last year, Bella retired her outdoor hunting, and slept in the sun and tolerated our younger cats, two are 4 years: Gunnar and Papi, and our Stella, who just turned 2 years old last week. I miss her so much! Bella was my girl! I would love to have many more cats, I just love all of them!! So I get it, Kelleytoons, I really do. 🐾🐾🐾.

Hate to pile on, but I've had issues with doctors (all my life really, back to the 90's at least when I went on my own as an 'adult') either not listening to me, or thinking I was lying. Like this isn't a court of law, and yer not a cop or judge, what possible motivation could I have for lying about my own health, and how are my actual symptoms not more relevant than something you read in a book 30 years ago. I get the lying to get pain pills problem, but in most of my cases it wasn't about that kind of thing, a couple of infections, sore throats, headaches, boring stuff.

But yeah, unless yer bleeding and it won't stop, a bone is sticking out, chest pains caused you collapse, or you're having trouble breathing, then good luck with a doctor fixing it.

I guess we can thank Nixon for the rise of for profit healthcare in the U.S. (link below) Supposedly most hospitals in the U.S. are legally 'non-profit' entities, but I'd be amazed if someone wasn't making millions a year CEO'ing each one or whatever. Cause otherwise where is all that money going ?

This is why we need health care reform in this country. Everything is for-profit, they can charge exorbitant amounts for the smallest things, and insurance doesn't always cover everything. I really think we should socialize health care and take away some of the profit motives for big pharma and insurance companies. The US has the worst health care out of the 11 highest income countries. It's honestly ridiculous. I know some people will reflexively scoff at medicare-for-all, but it sure sounds a lot better than what we have now.

OP: I would recommend trying to see another provider if you can. - It's laughable that she gave you a pamphlet in the dangers of kratom :lol if you can post pics, I'd love to read it

I have friends with socialized medicine in their countries and it's the WORST - MUCH worse than over here.

A good friend had to wait three years for the knee operation that he desperately needed - I have the same surgery scheduled next week and it only took a few weeks to get it approved. I NEVER want socialized medicine (luckily no one is that idiotic in this country).

There are countries that do it right. Just look at Canada. Or Denmark. Or Germany. Or Taiwan. They have some of the best health care in the world.

It's easy to cherry pick a few points of anecdotal data here and there to make an argument to make it look bad. My point is, we need a better system than what we have now, unfettered (aka unregulated) capitalism isn't really doing it for us...unless you're in favor of big pharma's massive profits year after year? But again, this veers into the political realm, so I'll leave it at that.

Actually, it's in Canada that my friend is.

Unless you've lived under it, you have NO idea how bad it is (my friends tell me - don't make the mistake of being fooled by politicos who tell you otherwise).

Our health care is why a LOT of folks try to get into this country (you don't see too many folks trying to get into those other places :>).

And that's all I say - if you want to talk politics take it up in the appropriate section.

Haha okay brother
You want to get your jabs in and then tell me that you don't want to talk about it. Like I said, cherry picked anecdotes. I didn't realize you were so pro-big pharma. It sounds like you want to talk about it, but just don't want to hear the other side.

Amen to that, where IS all that money going?? In my life I have had life threatening surgeries, subdural hematoma of my right, frontal lobe, caused be a condition call arterial venous malformation, and even after my surgery, when I experienced more pain than I ever had experienced, drilling a hole in my skull, sticking a tube in the hole to release the pressure and blood, and all the side effects that go with brain trauma. I was not prescribed any pain medication as it was said it could mask deep systems, I got it, had I known then about Kratom, you better believe I would have found much needed relief. I would have researched the right strain of Kratom to help keep me stress free, and anticonvulsants free, those medications are HORRIFIC!! I'M sure there will be side effects later on in my life.
#kratomstrong. We need to keep this going because its benefits far outweigh any negatives!
