Help us fight an extreme ban attempt in our own back yard!
Tonight (Tuesday, April 7, 2026), the Scranton City Council will introduce an ordinance that would ban the sale, possession, distribution, and manufacturing of kratom within Scranton, PA city limits.
This is being pushed by Councilman Patrick Flynn and others, with a potential vote possibly coming as soon as next week.
Why this matters:
A total ban would remove a helpful tool that many responsible adults use and not only prohibit the sale of kratom - but criminalize it's possession. Instead of prohibition, we need smart regulations — such as age limits (21+), product testing, labeling requirements, and bans on high-potency extracts — like those being considered at the state level.
What you can do RIGHT NOW:
Attend tonight’s meeting in person if possible.
Time: Caucus at 5:45 PM, Public Meeting at 6:30 PM
Location: Scranton City Hall, Council Chambers (2nd floor), 340 N. Washington Ave.
Contact City Council members immediately and politely share your support for regulation over a ban. Personal stories carry the most weight.
If you cannot attend, CALL the city council office at (570) 348-4113. Ask that your message be routed to ALL MEMBERS.

Kratom saves lives, and I am proof of that. By criminalizing possession, sale and purchase of this plant, you actively remove a natural option from the community and open the door to much more devastating options. Please reconsider this ban and think of the people behind these stories - parents, friends and productive members of society.
