I think it's the fact everything that comes in now is in 1+ ton batches, and is sterilized before it even leaves indo. We really didn't know how good we had it with super fresh, old growth back then. Hopefully Thailand will eventually fill the small batch market gap that was opened by Indonesian export regulations. It basically killed off all "small batch" farmers. It's super unfortunate too. Hearing about the socio-economic and cultural context here is very interesting and not a perspective I’ve heard much of before. Does this mean you don’t think there are any legit small batch vendors? It's likely this. Some of the best kratom I've ever bought came after 2018, whether it be the 2020 TFH leaf or Denette's crazy run in 2023 before he retired in 2024. I can confirm with 100% certainty that there are vendors who still procure directly from the source.
