Legal Kratom: FDA, Labeling, Medical Claims, NFHC

Post by BallzDeep9 »

Opening this BIG discussion regarding current Legal Status of kratom, in particular kratom VENDORS online. What's happening? What is the FDA doing, how is the AKA (American Kratom Association) responding. What are some issues around Retail "head shop" kratom, -vs- Online sales of raw bulk powder? How "should" kratom be SOLD, in stores? On websites? Candle and Soap making? Or Herbal Supplements, how should vendors Import, and market the product in order to stay within the law? :!:

A Michigan man, doing business as Nomad Botanicals, this month was prosecuted by the Feds / and sentenced to 2 Years in Federal Prison. Charges involve mis-labeling, FRAUD, and making Medical Claims on his website. There is a link to Article, and discussion this week on Reddit. :o

Again, the Nomad guy was NOT prosecuted under State Law.. The State of Michigan, has little to-do with this, as I understand the situation. It was Federal investigators/ Prosecutors who apparently conducted a "sting" and then raided the guy's house. Please provide any helpful information here!!

Let's also discuss: Not For Human Consumption, NFHC - How does that work? Why that's the standard for online vendors. Who observes that standard now. What should online vendors be doing, to remain fully legal and compliant with current law.
Banned on Reddit: KratomVendors is now on SAIDIT!
Please check out my current Auctions/ Sales on MM Trading Post! I'm also on MeWe/ Saidit/ Reddit. Thanks!

In my opinion the vendor out of Michigan got fucked over. I'm not saying someone should make medical claims, and I'm not saying what he did wasn't wrong, but cmon now, everyday I see commercials on TV advertising supplement products that make all kinds of claims! The only difference is they use semantics when pushing their claims, which for some fucked up reason it's an effective loophole in the laws. Then at the end they say "not evaluated by the FDA" but before that I just was told how much it would increase my testosterone, or how much more energy and libido I'm going to have... Obviously by now, we all know Justice should be blind, but it isn't.

Has anyone seen definitive proof that Matt was actually making these claims? We all know the FDA has no issue with blatant lies in regard to kratom.

Nomad Botanicals was an OG of the online kratom vendors. I was ordering from them as far back as 2009, and do not ever recall seeing these medical claims etc on the site. Obv it’s possible they were there, but has anyone seen proof?

Yes I’m sure Matt made a lot of money. But kratom was selling at a much higher price domestically back then. And there were far fewer vendors. He was also providing our leaf to many people in need, and helping them tremendously.

I just want them to leave this alone soooo bad. It's an extremely helpful botanical that enhances the lives of millions of people. Why a subset of the federal government has to focus so intensely on literally ruining the lives of millions of people (money) is beyond the horizon of my personal moral compass (money) as well as ruin the lives of people that help others find their way to the best sources of one of earth's best plants (money) is also beyond my keen human sensibilities and logic (money).
Oh yeah.
