Physically Turned Green and Hospitalized from Kratom!!

Ok so I was playing poker the other night and I brought up how I like to take Kratom when I play. The dude sitting across me's eyes instantly lit up and he said he had a friend who literally turned physically green from it, so much so that even the whites of his eyes were green. He said he was hospitalized for awhile and it was very serious. I told him he must've been getting some bunk Kratom. He did admit that he was taking a shit-ton, but idk what he considers to be a large amount.

Has anyone ever heard of this, or experienced it themselves? What do you hypothesize caused this? Heavy metals?

It was a little concerning for me as my habit is up close to 40g's/day. Obv this case must be an outlier, but it did make me question the risks

I dont know about green, but people can absolutely turn yellow from jaundice as a result of kratom. Its VERY rare, but there are well documented cases of people who have this reaction from it. I can't get all nerd scientist about it, but I want to say it had something to do with them lacking the proper enzyme or metabolite to break it down in the liver.

If anyone experiences this, they should obviously stay away from kratom. The cases Ive heard of were similarly extreme. With as fast as kratom is growing, there are bound to be more stories like this popping up.

Yellow, like gumbyke1 pointed out, is most certainly jaundice and results from liver disease. There are also cases of people drinking nothing but carrot juice for extended periods of time and turning their skin an orange hue.
