Finally Capped my own

Post by Devil_Dog21 »

I just posted this on Reddit but for everyone's convenience I'll provide a link

https://www.reddit.com/r/kratom/comment ... ed_my_own/

Not sure what people feel about posting a link versus copying in the exact post but if you want me to do that let me know

I cap my own as well. I noticed that after I started that I cut my dose by ~1.5 grams. I'm not going to say that companies are using trash to fill but it's sure a lot better capping your own.

Updoot on Reddit for the Devil Dawg -- great post!

But I'm curious -- what capper did you get off Amazon? I have had two, Cap-m-quik and the Capsule Machine (gave the Cap-m-quik away years ago because I liked the Capsule Machine better, though they're quite similar) but you got one that does 100 at a time and seem happy with it, so I'd love to know which one.

Also, I've always capped my own capsules of herbal anything: you get the exact mix you want, and as far as kratom goes I'm not paying someone else to do what I can do myself, so no explanation needed from where I'm sitting. But because of the capper I have, gloves are way too much trouble usually so I just do it barehanded. Though I do wash my hands.

Great review! :D

Here's the link from Amazon for the cap filler I bought, https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0771 ... UTF8&psc=1

It's still too early to say how I would rate it, after using a few more times I will get a better idea.

I don't use gloves either, simply wash my hands, since the caps are only for me it works.

Another couple observations that I didn't include in my original post,

1. I used a cooking sheet covered in tinfoil to ensure I kept all the kratom powder from spilling everywhere. It actually help contain the empty caps as well when I was loading. So everything was laid out on the cooking tray while capping.
2. Obviously when you are capping extra powder does get on to your hands, the filler, the cooking sheet...so best to simply knockout a big run at one time. Even doing 500 caps at that one sitting I still didn't waste too much powder...I projected it might have been maybe a cap or 2 total between all the surfaces. At the end I picked up the tin foil and folded it to pour residue back into the bag :)

Thanks for the link! I wish that had been around the last time I was in the market for a capsule maker; the more you can make at a time the better. But because I'm cheap I'll stick with my little 24 count Capsule Machine... for now, anyway. I don't often take kratom caps unless I'm away from home, so a few go a long way for me. I have yet to buy any already capped, though.

Good point about using something underneath to catch all the flyaway and knocked off powder. Last time I did it I used two sheets of clean, flat packing paper underneath: one smaller one to catch and redistribute the knocked off powder as I was capping, and the second larger one underneath to make sure I got every last bit back into the bags. Foil might have been a better choice, now that I think of it (smoother surface) but I happened to have the packing paper handy so that's what I used. Good job!
