Are tolerance jumps normal?

I mean as opposed to a steady increase. I’ve taken the same amount without much noticeable difference for over 2 years now but in the last week it’s skyrocketed to where taking twice as much is still barely doing anything. I don’t get it; I’m taking the same strains I was before, constantly rotating, and have changed nothing from my normal routine.
So is this how it tends to happen for people? You wake up one day and your tolerance is in a whole other stratosphere?
I’m planning on taking a day off soon once some of the supplements I ordered arrive.

Other factors like hydration, illness, sleep, diet and exercise all seem to play a part.

Makes sense. 4 out of 5 of those things have been the same for me, but the last several days I’ve been noticing how much less water I’ve been drinking. I started forcing myself to focus on staying hydrated just last night so hopefully it will make a difference.

100% water plays a feel good or you have a chance having headaches and other problems. Its always good to stop buy and get a gallon at all times with you of fresh spring water, and jug it down randoms times when you think you need it most.

Now that you mention it I’ve actually been getting headaches lately which typically never happens to me.

yeah it seems there is an
inverse relationship
. between A- the # GPD you are eating, B- the amount of tolerance build-up in your mu receptors.
Or put simply: You
doubled your GPD... Now, you feel your kratom only HALF as much.
Go ahead keep taking more! Double it again? Next you'll FEEL your kratom... ZERO.

However, you can still enjoy strong negative side effects. Horrible constipation. Daily withdrawals with
renal fatigue.. And.. your dick goes limp and your hair falls out. But keep taking more 'cuz you can't O.D. on kratom... right?

I actually
haven’t doubled my GPD. I’ve barely adjusted my GPD at all. I just haven’t been feeling anything, and I wrote this post after doubling my dose (4 fucking grams) for the first time in 2 years. Up until last night I’d experimented with 3-3.5g maybe 4 times in the last week.
But, uh, thanks for the weirdly impassioned rant.

I like that Ballz is strait up, i dont think he is hostile, its just facts what will happen to you if people increase and sometime harsh examples makes people double think if they should be abusing kratom or not, i wish their were more people who drill the brain to the point making them double think about increasing dose. Burnitator sometimes there other things we are not aware that we consume and it zero's out the kratom effects. Or you will feel very little, maybe change eating habits? or tried on empty stomach? Your dose use dont seem not big too, so their is other factors for sure unless you got unlucky with some weak kratom. their could be many factors at play and only you know what you consumed or what was changed, having a journal is a good way to write down how herbs or drinks affect you with kratom use.

My tolerance sky rocketed once I started dosing daily.
When I used to take days off, more kratom would get me higher.
Now, like Ballz explained, taking more won't get me higher but it will give me more negative side effects.

i agree, i like how he posted that and don't think it's hostile at all. actually pretty honest and funny, even if i was on the receiving end.
I thinkg doubling your dose isn't smart regardless of your dosage....unless you're taking like .01g during your honeymoon phase or something. if i took more kratom, it'd always be %50 more max, but never 100% more, unless i absolutely low balled the fuck out of it previously which i wouldn't do 2 years in like the OP stated.
doubling isn't the smartest method.

I have yet to see a single one of his posts that are not aggressive and negative in some way. Apparently these other people think that's ok as long as he has a point in there somewhere. I find the attitude completely unnecessary.

Sorry to say but you dont understand sarcasm, he even included funny smileys to hint you that... This in fact what he said is for all of us even me as a reminder not to flood our mu-recepters by double downing the dose. Great point, i wanted to do little bit more today but passed it because of that comment, served me as a reminder. And i dont see anything offensive in, show me what part you got offended? I want to see...

I’m a serious creature of habit so I’m usually pretty good at pinpointing specific things that may be adversely affecting me, which is what’s been so odd about how seemingly overnight things have changed so drastically. I’ve been using great Kratom that had previously been working fine too so that’s something I can rule out. You made a good point about hydration though and I’ve been chugging water all day. I don’t expect immediate results from that because it can take several days to truly rehydrate yourself.
Keeping a journal isn’t a bad idea though - especially just to document and keep track of how each strain affects me...since I’ve acquired much more variety over the TFH event.

I wasn’t personally offended by his comment, but I did find the tone condescending and demeaning. I use sarcasm all the time, but when it’s used in a way to talk to someone like they’re stupid, that’s just unnecessary.
He made valid points but he also made some presumptions about me based off of very little information and seeming to hear what he wanted to hear as an excuse to go into a rant.
Also, that type of emoji usage comes across as pretty patronizing.
But like I said, it’s really no big deal. Just explaining why I felt some hostility there.

i mean, i can see what you mean, but i guess we're all different....because i would've laughed at something like that directed towards me. Especially because i've actually been through that before with the renal fatigue and all.

Yes,that's exactly how I remember it happening to me. Was taking a teaspoonful for almost a year and then one day got nothing so I jumped up to two. That worked, and for another year or so I was doing twice as much to get the effect, but the effect was still good. Then, it happened again to me and now I don't get anything from even a 12g to 16g dose....maybe a slight uplift.
When you find this happening, try not to go up in dosage and just take a break. Upping your dose is the trap that's hard to avoid because you get the magic back and just keep doing it and now you're tolerance is going to rise again. It comes out of the blue, or at least it did for me.

Woah! I'm a high doser trying to taper at the moment but I've noticed over the past 6 months or so I have wayyyy lower libido now. When krwtom was working for me and I was dating, I would be able to last like a champion during sex and had a high libido that I thought kratom enhanced. Now, I have little interest in pursuing sex unless it just falls in my lap. Is that a common side effect of taking too much for too long?

I've had this happen many times. This:
RumRunner wrote:Other factors like hydration, illness, sleep, diet and exercise all seem to play a part.
I'd add stress to it as well. At least for me, I can easily get a headache from stress or have burns do nothing when I'm dealing with challenges. I recently had a bad wreck and I don't think I felt a single burn for a week or two.
It's really amazing, but for me, if my tolerance just magically does this, almost like clockwork, 3-4 days later I'll be sick. Maybe it's incubation of illness, immune system response, or an enzyme triggered by a change in the body, I really have no idea what it is but it happens to me. In normal conditions, without significant stressors, my first indicator that I'm sick is usually a couple of bad burns. I'll take the opportunity to lay off for a bit and when I start feeling better, I damn near go through the honeymoon period again.

That’s pretty wild. I actually haven’t been sick since I started taking Kratom 3+ years ago surprisingly. But with the whole pandemic thing that’s slightly concerning. I never leave the house though so I’m pretty sure I’m fine lol.
The only thing that’s ever been like clockwork for me in regards to interfering with my burns (besides food obviously) is alcohol. Even if I only drink a few beers it’s pretty much guaranteed that for the next day and a half or so Kratom does pretty much nothing. That hasn’t been a bad thing though, since it’s helped me virtually quit drinking.
I’m glad to hear I’m not the only one who’s experienced an overnight tolerance jump. I’ve been worried that it’s just stopped working for me. I saw you mention Cat’s Claw in another thread, and I have a shipment of that coming tomorrow so I’m hoping that will make even a slight difference.

Keep some capsules handy. I find that a couple of capsules of my regular leaf is all it takes to relieve the unpleasantness of skip days. They're not always necessary but nice to have relief if needed. A couple of capsules don't seem to affect the tolerance gains from a few days off, for me, at least. Might be different for others.

Best advice ever, have few caps on days offs, under 2 grams per day is really nothing but if it helps relieve from any unwanted WDs then caps are good to have around.

Alcohol does it too. Sometimes kava as well, oddly enough. I'ver had kava make burn feel like magic and some that nullifies the burn. It's on my list of things to figure out "why?" but I have no clue yet.

I’ve noticed that with Phenibut a few times; it’s made me feel like I’m back in the honeymoon phase the day after. Which doesn’t make a whole lot of sense since it’s so closely related to alcohol.

Good call. I usually keep some caps around for when I go out anyways.
