Tea amounts

Going to try tea for the first time. I've been using tosh and wash for the past 3 years and want to give tea a try to see if I like it, plus I want to see if there's less gas with that method. My question is, should I use more leaf when making tea since I won't be ingesting any of the actual leaf? If so, how much more should I use? Thanks everyone, and please be safe. \m/

Here is a link to the single serving tea tutorial I started....
viewtopic.php?f=7&t=4847&hilit=Single+s ... =80#p46013
Myself and numerous others now solely brew tea for kratom use or at very least a majority of the time for other people. Personally, I have only brewed tea.... particularly using an aeropress since the new year!!! And gotta be honest, I will never ever go back to ingesting the plant material for any reason other than a dire emergency where I'm in need of relief and can't brew hahaha. If you have any further questions or just wanna pick someone's brain you can always PM me here or come join us on the slack chat and we can talk there one way or another as well. Good luck to ya, and let us all know how it worked out for you, and even what methods you decide to use for your brewing process.....
Also keep in mind that there are some updates and additions made to that thread as it goes so may wanna read the ongoing comments as well!!

I just brewed another batch... 50/50 crushed and green MD powder. Two keys: 1- Approach it like you're making extract. Kratom cells do not easily melt, you should start with a hard freeze, then allow to sit in acid for several days.. sorry I realize it's more hassle. But you want to extract those alkaloids!! Nobody does a 5 minute extract, because kratom takes work (Time!) to dissolve cell walls and liberate the alks!!
After several days in the fridge, with either Citric or Acetic acid or combo... it looks different. Color is more reddish. You're now ready for final heating and filtering.. which brings me to #2 - Use an Aeropress! And get ready to apply some pressure, elbow grease. I brew like 6 to 10 servings in a batch. Fills up a Mason jar (heating below boil to reduce water volume).. Use some powder Tea flavoring in there, Crystal Light Pure packet adds sweetener and a touch of caffeine. I also use raw fruit, cut-up lemon or lime or tangerine in there for the 3-day pre soak. Anyway.. Aeropress! Final step is check pH and, add some baking soda, raise pH to protect alks.

Have you by chance ever used my tech??? Or something relatively like it?? Curious as to why/how you feel all this extra effort is worth it or makes such a difference. Not trying to say it isn't true or not believe you.... I am legitimately curious at this point!!! I personally feel that the 30 to 60mon steep including citric acid plus using the aeropress does phenomenal job of extraction, especially for single dose cups!!! I would love to start up a convo on the comparison of our two experimental methods that we love so much

Wow you guys are fancy. When I make tea I just throw a regular dose into a cup of water, mix it up, and drink straight.
Normally I toss n wash

Wow this is incredible info! Thank you so much! What I also need to know is, should I use more for making tea than I use for a single toss and wash? I usually do between 2-3g for a single dose of toss and wash, so should I use a little more than that when I make the tea, or will I not lose anything from not ingesting the plant material as long as I do a good and thorough brewing method?

I touched on this in my tutorial thread.... I typically usually about 120-140% of a toss and wash type serving size. So in your case 2 or 3 grams would be something like 2.4 to 4.2 grams give or take. As someone else said there is definitely some trial and error.

yes, I find ace's math is about right. If I use lemon/lime juice, it's usually on the 120% area.
