Hello!

I was hoping someone could recommend a good red Sumatra. Usually I like any color of Sumatra strains, but Red Sumatra is what always keeps me coming back to kratom... and I’m out of that particular strain. I have clinical depression and this strain in particular helps me so much with that. I’ve been struggling lately... as most people have been. That happy feeling while not getting tired nor jittery... that’s what Red Sumatra does for me and what I feel like I need right now.

Any recommendations are appreciated. Thank you all.

Hi Pixieface! Can you help me understand your affinity? Have you tried many other strains from other vendors and find that all the kinds of Red Sumatra you have tried are always the best? Have you only had one Red Sumatra or buy them from other vendors?

I see posts like this asking for the best versions of some strain name. Earlier this week it was Green Maeng Da. Since names are ultimately made-up, I think the question boils down to the effects you are seeking. Unfortunately with kratom....a lot of it is a trial-and-error process. No guarantees.
So, if you want to expound a bit, I bet you could get recommendations about other similar currently available batches that have given other users your sought-after effects.
If not, I would say check out Fused Flora's Red Sumatra. It is not a 'mid' spec and is on the slower side, but not tiring. I can't think of any high-quality vendors I use that currently offer a strain with that name.

Again, names are mostly a sales tactic.

I'm something of a fan of the In Sense Botanicals Red Sumatra since a fellow Kratom user talked it up as her go to for relief from a painful and stressful day.

I almost measured some out just now but I went instead with TFH Jade Bali. It's next up though!

As Spookiest said, strains name are mostly made up. I think a better approach is to describe the effects you are looking for and people can suggest options.

For example, I really like mid-slow unfermented reds with mood-lift and relaxation without being sedating. Quite a few options out there that provide that, but their strain names are all over the place.

I really enjoy Mitra Man’s Red Sumatra.

Thank you all for your answers. That’s very helpful. As far as effects go, I’m going for the mood boosting, motivated feeling with no jitters but not sedating either. A strain you can take at any time of the day. Is that mid spec? I’m not sure. I’m not after a heavy feeling. I purchased Denette’s Red Bone and it is great but it feels sedating and heavy. His green bone is better but not quite there either. They both tend to give me headaches as I’m predisposed to them in general so I have to be careful.

Hi there, thanks for your reply.
I have tried Red Sumatra from about 5 different vendors over the years. I also have an affinity towards Red Borneo or Red Malay but have found that sometimes it is too sedating for me. Red Thai is pretty good usually as well.

But I’m really hunting for the strain that will give me the following effects (of course I know effects greatly differ for each person based on personal body chemistry): mood boosting, happiness inducing, motivation, no sedation but no jittters either (I can’t do white strains usually as they are way too fast for me, it increases my anxiety)

That sounds sort of like the effects I’m after. Any strains/batches you could recommend? Thank you!
