Hey please anyone who has used mason jars to store kratom am I supposed to seal the lid any particular way or suck the air out of the jar? Can I just put the kratom in the jar and screw the lid on?

Yeah, just put the lid on and screw it shut. There's no real way to take all the oxygen out of the jar unless you package in outer space.

Just my way: I personally don't like mason jars. First, if there is glass anywhere in the house I will break it. If it's a jar even more likely to be dropped by me. Yes, they look all folksy and cute with decorative labels; they give that 'natural, old-timey, organic homey' vibe. But they aren't very efficient. As you asked, how to get the spare air out? Do you want to invest in some kind of vacuum? Do you want to have to deal with all of that every time you open a jar?
Personally, I'm not into optics or what SELLs as 'organic' and time-worthy. I prefer bags - more specifically mylar bags. They are airtight, come in many sizes, are re-usable. They stand up just as rigidly as a jar, they are unbreakable and you can literally just squeeze all of the excess air out with your hands as you close it. They can also be very decorative and absolutely take up less room that a shelf full of round jars.

But if you like the hipster vibe (no offense) that pinterest pics advertise then that's what you want. You'll need gear to pull air out. Personally I'm convinced that a lot of Kratomites choose mason jars because they are good for storing STINKY cannabis. I'm no expert, but there probably isn't anything better than a big, thick mason jar for that DANKY Dank bud. I keep mine in an enormous Plastic Jar. Even then I leave it out in the garage .

But kratom doesn't stink. Like, at all. I'd just go with bags, friend. Trust me on this: with every year that passes, the older you get, the simpler you'll like things.

Glass is best to store your dank bud in because plastic bags can have a bit of a static charge and suck off some of those lovely, lovely trichomes.

I keep my kratom in the bags it comes in except for what I'm currently using is in 2x3 Plymor bags that I rotate front to back.

Keeping a kratom collection in glass jars doesn't seem like a good idea to me. You drop a jar, that kratom is gone.

Thanks for the insight about storing weed. And - absolutely - good bags make good kratom .

I recently found out that the Dr. who has been prescribing Ativan for me messed up badly and can't do it anymore. If he can't convince my GP to prescribe it I'm going to have to try weed again. The Indica was a disaster - all heavy-headed paranoia, more anxiety, etc. I'm going to need to find something that can still the catastrophic panic that strikes. I'm not claiming to be 'special'; we all suffer from anxiety. But from the age of 13 to 18 I was always sickly and horribly skeletal and malnourished because I was so terrified I literally could not swallow food (or even my saliva) for a year. If a doctor is OK with seeing me suffer again like that then I am OK with refusing all food and water until I hopefully (peacefully) die. By writing this I am absolutely NOT endorsing self harm; BUT. No one owns your body (and life) but YOU. I absolutely believe there is "always another day." But if someone threatens your autonomy (outside of your personal agency) make it clear that no one owns you. You are the Master/Mistress of your own fate.

And have I mentioned? I put cops and doctors in the exact same category. Sorry for the Off Topic rant.

I use Ball brand mason jars for kratom and coffee beans.

I picked up some modified mason jar lids and a hand pump a few years back that lets you remove the air from a mason jar. I think the company was thrifty vac, but there are other brands out there. Never tried it with Kratom, but they worked ok for jars of dried herbs.
