It doesn't surprise me from what I've read from mccurdy and other articles about 7ohm wonder what drying process converts the most mitra into 7ohm or causes it in the body other studies by him have shown that 7ohm creates mitra and they mirror each other

wOw. Only 1 comment on this, in 3 days ?? Maybe MM ain't the place to discuss Kratom future, or media, or research. Is anyone interested in keeping Kratom Legal in 2021, based on McCurdy's NIDA Grant? What does anyone think about, his comments, in this article?

Usually ppl worship at the McCurdy alter. Sounds like this man is calling for kratom regulation.

Why? Maybe because the majority of the reports of kratom doing harm in the U.S. is because it was used in conjunction
with opiates, alcohol or some other substances. In almost every "story" I've read on these h'yer internets 'n googles
where kratom had supposedly done some kind of "harm," it was also reported that the person that was "harmed" also
had opiates, cocaine, alcohol or some other substance in their system. One case that stands out was an accident fatality
in Florida a few years back. The blame was placed squarely on kratom even though his alcohol levels were far above the
legal limit! Even the man's family blamed it on kratom. In another case, kratom was blamed for an overdose fatality even
though the deceased had been consuming alcohol and had fentanyl and cocaine in his system. But hey, somehow, it must
have been the kratom!

The ass hats that do the reporting on these occurrences also demonize cannabis in the same manner

Anyone have any insight on the implications of these findings? Should kratom remain legally accessible would it have to be grown and prepared in the US? Or would there have to be some kind of standardized product to ensure 7ohm levels were below levels considered unsafe?

well it's been > 2 years since he got a large 3.5 million NIDA Grant to study kratom at Univ Florida. Since then... nothing?

I'm sure Dr McCurdy has got much more, than the Article on a website "The Conversation" decided to publish? The website Editor, mixed in negative stuff with his article. There are definitely questions, on 2+ years of research!

Then the Wired article dropped. Same day, for me anyway... Then I learn about a State Bill to regulate kratom in Oregon. So... 3 bombshells all in 1 day. Each of these, deserve their own thread on MM... or wherever... with lengthy discussion. Those of us on MM, who are serious and concerned about kratom, want to get involved? As Soon as Election 2021 is over.... BOOM kratom blows up!!

State Of Oregon, a Republican who claims he's "against Government interference" is pushing a Big Government regulation of kratom... Of course he's backed by AKA? the Kratom Lobbying group for Republicans who sell gas station kratom. That also deserves it's own Topic!

On top of all this, I'm going to doctors this week for my chronic pain.

For whatever it's worth, I've now seen this article in three different locations this week. It certainly feels like a push for regulation as RumRunner alluded to.


In other kratom news, Thailand's House of Representatives voted to remove kratom from their narcotics list, and is to become law 90 days after it is published in the 'Royal Gazette'.
