Tolerance break works wonders
I took almost 2 weeks off, and wow! I’m using much smaller doses and feeling the effects just as much if not more, My old norm was 5-6 sometimes 7 gram doses multiple times a day. I’m now down to 2 doses a day at no more than 3 grams.

Fantastic! Good job! I would love to do the same thing but the WD’s scare me. How did you do it? Did you just quit cold turkey or taper before jumping off?

Nice to hear about T break success stories. So many of us start scaling the dose ladder when our kratom stops working.

Good question! Going from that normal to just completely breaking for 2 weeks...Sassysquatch wrote: ↑Wed Jun 16, 2021 12:23 pm Fantastic! Good job! I would love to do the same thing but the WD’s scare me. How did you do it? Did you just quit cold turkey or taper before jumping off?

Jackpot. My old days when i first started kratom first 2 years i would, 3 gram per day in the morning for a long time and any day offs i had from work i would not use kratom. When i ddnt use kratom i always felt WD's, every week but it got to the point when i enjoyed feeling them since i got so use to them and i knew the honey moon of 3 grams is always around the corner or i would stop use kratom for a month or few weeks if wanted to do that. 100% safe if you take 3 grams per day and WD's are not harsh in any way, very weak. would use different herbal tea's during the day like Guayusa leaf and sleep good during the night on its own, all i needed is sometimes some chamomile if needed that extra deep sleep. Coffee instead of kratom every morning helped out too. 3 gram feels like a whopping 8 grams or even 10 gram per dose when 1 week or even 2 weeks T break is taken. It is indeed a huge kratom saving experience. What do you have to do to get there??? Torture your self a little and see how far you can go, push your self feeling fatigue and some what lazy. Distract your self with something cringy like pimple popping! LOLMonkeygonetoheaven wrote: ↑Wed Jun 16, 2021 11:34 am I took almost 2 weeks off, and wow! Most times Anxiety pills if you take them can be hell so i would quit that first for sure and use 1 gram 3 times a day or 2 grams 2 times a day of kratom. Kratom works best for stopping panic attacks and calms. Use kratom only to reduce wd's if cant handle WD effects and try NOT to feel anything. Less is more WILL not work in this situation. Other then that paddle your way trough with no kratom if can.
Also usually if you take 6-8gram per dose, you might not feel wd's for a few days 24-48 hours. Usually you start to feel it day 2 and most of it on day 3 from my experience. Its a normal occurrence. Most times its day 3 that is the hardest and day 4 and up gets easier. So ideal to do one week T break. This is mostly aimed at none chronic pain people. Those with tons of pain i think are stuck on pain pills or kratom for life.
If you feel WD in less then 24 hours and your a high doser, for sure time to take a T break. Especially if want to save kratom long term. Even 24 hours of T break alone will make your regular dose much improved and you will feel it it better. But 1 week T break and 3 gram max, nothing can beat that. Well for reds i think its still 4-6 grams. Whites should be stsrted with 2 grams and greens are perfect at 3 grams.

I just stopped cold turkey for 2 weeks, and I’m very happy I did. If my tolerance becomes an issue again I will not hesitate taking another break, I’m even considering taking 2 days off a week.

If you can, you will enjoy kratom long term. 2 days T break a week not everyone can do.Monkeygonetoheaven wrote: ↑Thu Jun 17, 2021 4:21 pm I just stopped cold turkey for 2 weeks, and I’m very happy I did. I just did a tolerance break recently everything came back to life after that was great. Went from 15-20g per day to 8g per day. I think I am going to taper down again and try and hold that for 2-3 weeks. I have been really active since it got warmer and pain is getting way better. I’d like to go to a 1-2 times per week instead of daily.

If you can accomplish this, you'll be a much happier camper. The BEST potentiator is not using it for a bit.. really. It's just like the old sex ed advice, the best protection is abstinence.. but if everyone listened to this advice, the world would be a better place. It's all has to do with perspective. SO MANY PEOPLE think that it's a matter of will power and control over themselves.. that is simply NOT true. It is a matter of PERSPECTIVE and UNDERSTANDING. The key is to look at the tolerance break as a MUST. It is not a choice. You don't have the choice to use or to put off the break until tomorrow.. this is a recipe for emotional re-dosing. When we make the decision that tolerance breaks are a requirement of using, you do not have to wrestle with the "should I use it today?' or the "maybe I'll just take less instead.." argument. You simply understand that you are not going to use today, and you go about your day. This is the same technique for weightloss, or any behavior change. You take the choice away, and you do not have to wrestle with your own will power.Bubba5150 wrote: ↑Sun Jun 27, 2021 2:01 pm I just did a tolerance break recently everything came back to life after that was great. Also, make it as hard as possible to take your kratom for that week or two. Meaning, only if you have to, give it to a friend to hold and not give it back until the 2 weeks are up. Also, give him anything else related to the habit such as your Blate Papes
But really, most people think that when they fail in changing a behavior it is because they weren't strong enough.. but this is almost never the case. It is because they did not understand what factors influence their own behaviors. I suggest reading Atomic Habits if anyone really wants to learn the secrets to their behavior and habits.

I find “tapering” works well for me, and by tapering I mean just sucking it up and dropping my dose to less than 3g twice per day (from 5g doses 3x a day). Just chop it and deal with it not hitting as well for a week. End of the week they’ll be hitting decent again and you can mess with working your way back up or continue with lower doses.

Nothing worth doing is ever easy, I have always been a no pain no gain kind of person. My will power will not be an issue, I just have to decide that is what I want and I will stick it out. Fortunately that is what I decided I want so I will taper down a few more grams then to nothing and give myself a 2-3 week minimum break. Looking forward to seeing how already opened bags are going to work then!BlatePapes wrote: ↑Mon Jun 28, 2021 12:27 pmBubba5150 wrote: ↑Sun Jun 27, 2021 2:01 pm I just did a tolerance break recently everything came back to life after that was great. with busy life its very easy to forget to take breaks. Anyone doing T breaks for sure should remind others and maybe share their own tips here.

Re: Tolerance break works wonders
Yeah, a lot of good suggestions here, and I love Blate Papes thinking on this.
I typically dose pretty low (1.4g, 2x per day on average), but every few weeks I cut my dose in half (though still use 2x per day) and keep it there for at least three days; longer if I can. I do still get some mild effects at that dose; it doesn't rock my world but I get mild pain relief and a bit of lift. I take Kratom mostly for pain (I have 9 herniated disks in my back/neck and a host of other spine issues), though also love the way it feels, and for those of us who use it as a pain med it's hard to just go without. That being said, I do still try to stop completely for a couple of days at least once per month (and I often take Ibruprofen for my pain on those days), but often "forget" to
In general, I also find that playing with my dose size, sometimes changing my dose schedule by a few hours here and there, using only a very small amount for my second dose of the day, etc helps to keep the experience fresher for me. I do want to do a real T-break for a week to see what would happen, but again my general pain level is pretty bad - even with PT and exercise - so I keep chickening out

Man I wish ibuprofen did anything for me! I ate it like candy when I was younger (when the pain was just starting to get into 'bad' territory) and it probably was not too kind to my insides. At some point it just stopped helping, go figure. Tylenol, advil and the like might as well be sugar pills for me. On my days off from kratom I pivot to CBD oil (though sometimes I take them in conjunction with each other). Not as much relief as kratom, but enough to get by for a day or two.Supersonic75 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 02, 2021 9:10 am I take Kratom mostly for pain (I have 9 herniated disks in my back/neck and a host of other spine issues), though also love the way it feels, and for those of us who use it as a pain med it's hard to just go without. Yep, the Advil provides minimal pain relief at best, but seems to take the edge off (or could just be more of a placebo effect:-)). I've used CBD oil with a drop of THC to activate it as well; sometimes on days off, sometimes with Kratom.....it's unfortunately never really done much for me pain-wise, though.
