Interesting thoughts on the irresponsibility of a potential kratom ban.

Re: Friday's Read...
So glad to see them acknowledge this! This quote from some fool at the FDA not so much:Kratom does appear to be far safer than all illegal and most prescription opioids: a CDC study of some 27,000 overdoses that occurred between 2016 and 2017 found that it was implicated in less than 1 percent of deaths. Given the large number of people who regularly use it and the low number of fatalities, researchers estimate that it is more than 1,000 times less likely to kill than typical prescription opioids.
When pain patients are treated like liars and criminals, and rehabs for addiction are more focused on the money they make when addicts relapse than they are on actually helping people, what exactly are we supposed to do? The absolute callousness of this... the FDA is all too happy to scaremonger about kratom and offers absolutely no advice to the communities who are using it to solve a problem. I know that some people use kratom just for fun but I know far more who have turned to it because they have no other option - myself included of course. It's done so much for so many people. In the United States, kratom is misused to self-treat chronic pain and opioid withdrawal symptoms.
A few months ago if you told me I'd grow to despise the FDA I'd think you were crazy, but here I am seething every time they say a word about the leaf that's changed my life... I know I'm preaching to the choir here but it really sets me off.
Thank you for posting this. It was a good read.

Re: Friday's Read...
I read the whole article, and I agree that the FDA's attitude on kratom is disgusting. Banning it will absolutely cause more harm in the world. Like so many of us, I suffer from chronic pain, anxiety and depression. Kratom is the only thing that has made any real difference. I have been unemployed a lot out of the last several years due to my chronic pain, but I think now that I've discovered how well kratom works for me that I might be able to go back to working a full-time schedule soon.
Not anything prescribed to me by my doctors has helped anywhere near as significantly as this does. LDN was a distant second, but now I dilute that down to the ULDN level and use an eye dropper with my kratom. By itself, it only helped some of the aches I have, but not the sharper pain.

hey thanks for posting! I have heard that ULDN (Ultra Low Dose Naltrexone) can work even better than Agmatine or Black seed oil, to lower Tolerance.PistolsAtDawn wrote: ↑Sat Aug 14, 2021 7:14 pm Not anything prescribed to me by my doctors has helped anywhere near as significantly as this does. Most people who are Chronic Pain folks, who use Agmatine, have reported it can take away some of the euphoria or mood of kratom... But helps the analgesia or Pain relief. I know a number of ppl on Reddit, are using Agmatine daily right along with kratom... A few have found ULDN even better - But as you know, it's very important to measure correctly. A standard 50 milligram Naltrexone pill = 50,000 MICRO grams. ULDN starts around 10 mcg so... you'd have to split that 1 pill, into 5000 doses?

The Problem is clearly... FDA. Some of the people at FDA, need to be fired or retired. President Biden has still not picked a FDA chief and - Guess why? Money and Politics. Big money = *Big Pharma* has a huge influence there. Who's on the SIDE of Big Pharma?- Obviously, the guy Trump picked to run FDA - Scott Gottlieb, was the enemy of kratom over 4 years. The current FDA temp is Janet Woodcock... she is ALSO backed by "Big Pharma". There is pressure, on Biden to pick a more "Public Health" person to head FDA!

Yes, unfortunately the FDA has been a revolving door of industry insiders for decades. Other agencies like the FCC too.
But if we can all stand strong together on issues like this, we can win anything. I've submitted my comment through the AKA and the FDA already. Enough people commenting can influence policy.
Oh, and there's a lot of money on the table for this industry too. If there's one thing that I can trust in, it's greed. Too much money to be made to just shut it all down. So I could see taxed and regulated before an actual ban. Look at how marijuana legalization is going.
(My compounded capsules of LDN are only 1.5 mg, making dilution a whole lot easier than if I started at the 50 mg range. I was a master homebrewer in a life before chronic pain, so I'm pretty comfortable with this stuff fortunately. But I appreciate the info! Safety first, always!)

Great article, thank you!
I agree completely. Banning it would cause a wide array of problems. Ex-drug users who can't get safe and legal access to kratom will just return to more dangerous substances. Chronic pain sufferers can't even get prescription painkillers anymore, so they too will be seeking out ways to dull the pain. For me personally, it would probably be alcohol. Alcohol is unhealthy and dangerous but its a damn good painkiller at the end of the day.
Although it's another side topic all together, I also don't feel anyone has the right to tell another person what they can and can't put in their own body. It's my body, it's my life. As long as I'm not hurting other people or causing problems, I should be completely free to do what I want.
