Reds for mood?

Post by Nanobaker »

Hi all! Could you recommend reds with mood-enhancing qualities? I know greens are the way to go for that, but as I posted in a previous topic, greens aren’t working for me after taking a break. I tried a red Borneo from Sakti that seemed to do the trick.

It's their latest but I couldn't tell you the batch (I make capsules and throw away the packaging). But I bought it on Mr. B's recommendation because he reads the reports and it was indeed worth it (that thread should be easy to find - search with his name and "Red Bali")

LOL - don't let me make you suffer from FOMO.

I said "POSSIBLY" - let me reiterate that. Someone was asking for advice on reds and, as a rule, they don't work for me. Ballz had in some post earlier (and you can probably find it fairly easily but if you can't let me know) mentioned that the report on this one was really good in terms of mit and other content, so I took a chance and ordered. The ONE time I tried it it almost completely knocked me out. But... haven't tried it since (I rotate on a six week basis - so only one strain every six weeks and this was a couple of weeks ago). So - take the info for what it's worth. Ballz "sort of" recommended it on the basis of the chemical makeup, I "sort of" did the same based on one experience using it, but that doesn't really mean it was a "once in a lifetime" experience.

I do know that next time I will reduce the dose (I had already taken much less than I normally do, on the basis of that report Mr. B had mentioned. So my normal dose of 5-7 grams (for reds normally at the higher end) was reduced to 4. But even THAT was way too much - I was literally feeling it the next morning. My intention next time is to try 2 grams just to see (which for me is an almost negligible amount). If folks are still interested a month from now I can report back. OR if someone REALLY wants I'd be willing to try again sooner. But I honestly don't want anyone to think they are missing a truly wonderful thing (for one thing - I didn't order any more. My experience, in general, is that even really good stuff isn't worth chasing after because, again, I don't use the same strain very often. 250 grams of something will last me for three years).

Is RVA’s red Bali fermented or oxidized or is it more of a green colored red?

*I* certainly can't tell you - as I said above, I make capsules and then I throw away the package. Perhaps someone on the RVA site could answer (or perhaps there is a picture of it there, or at least info to tell you).

Yes, Herbal RVA has a Red Bali clocking in at 1.6% MIT which is rather uncommon for a red variant. Reds are usually either 1% or lower MIT content

I got HRVA Red Bali in the middle of March and it was definitely a darker red, oxidized/possibly mildly fermented based on smell? The batch number matched the 1.6 mit labs, it definitely slapped, heavier slower red for me.

I did see Ballz post after I already ordered and I also viewed the labs of every strain including the Red Bali before I ordered BUT I tend to not really trust lab reports BUT I should not have dismissed it so easily!

Okay, so I took some more of the HVA Red Bali last night - only 2.5 grams (thanks, LoveandPeace!) and it was just perfect.

Remember that I take capsules - so around two hours after I ingested the marvelous warm glow hit. That's slower for me than most (my usual time frame after ingestion is about 75 minutes) so I suspect that those who take the powder might want to understand it will hit a bit slower as well (not THAT long, but perhaps as much as an hour later). And it lasted all night - woke up this morning refreshed and invigorated (which for this old man is not a common thing at all).

I went ahead and ordered some more and if you knew my Kratom stash and how little at this point I've decided to EVER order you'll understand this is my highest recommendation.

Thank you. I'll need to give what I got another try also, both PMDs and wild green. Grrrrrrrr

I've got a Red Bali from RVA (down the street from me literally) a couple of years ago, and it's really strong. It looked fermented so I never tried it, but when I went through my sampler foray a couple of months ago, I went ahead and gave it a shot. It was smokin'! I think it's oxidized not fermented, it tastes and smells like KOG Red Aceh which isn't fermented. (or so I understand...)
HRVA is a great vendor and since he's so close by, he was one of the first vendors I ever tried.

Wondering if RVA will be having a sale again soon, maybe for 4th of July, they don't have a minimum for free shipping like some have. I have FOMO on the Red Bali even though I prefer fast and energetic strains. I had some premium gold Bali of Denette’s last night and was out all morning. I'd also like to try the moringa and organic samurai ceremonial matcha. If the matcha is truly ceremonial its the best price anywhere at $25 for 100g, it's usually $25 for a tiny tin.

I just got some Herbal RVA Red Bali in the mail and the batch number is 51322. So that means it's from May 13th 2022. Do you know if you got the batch you've been raving about before or after that date? I'm just curious to know if the batch I have is the same or different from the one you've been using.

You probably didn't read the entire thread but I make capsules and afterwards I throw away the packaging so I really can't tell you if you have the same batch or not.

However - doesn't HVA publish the reports on their site of the strain content? The important thing about the batch (the whole reason it came to my attention) was the high mit percentage - I think something like 1.7. So if the stuff you have clocks in at that then you definitely have a good batch, even if it isn't exactly the same one

I had to investigate the Red Bali further because it sounded amazing. The Red Bali labs in the RVA website show the batch as 110921 with the mit count at 1.61%. It looks like he needs to update the labs if he is on batch 51322.
