Anyone had a REAL delay in effects?
Disclaimers out of the way: I take my Kratom in capsules. So - it always takes a bit for the effects to show up, naturally. As a rule it's between 45 to 75 minutes and I've never had it vary outside of those. (The times it's faster than an hour I do think is because there might still be some powder left on the outside of the capsules I make - I'm pretty sure my stomach takes 60 minutes to dissolve those capsules).
Yesterday I took something I've taken in the past and it didn't hit me after 90 minutes. Oh, well, I thought, it's just one of those (rare, for this vendor) misses. And, of course, perhaps my body just wasn't needing Kratom or in a position to process or whatever (stomach was empty so it wasn't that). Almost exactly three hours later it hit me like a freight train - just when I hadn't even thought about it (I had forgotten I had taken anything) I'm suddenly experiencing a rush and euphoria and pain relief and, well, everything I need/want from my dose.
And it lasted my usual four hours or so FROM THE ONSET of the symptoms. IOW - it wasn't any shorter than any normal dose, it just didn't kick in for three hours. So, so weird - and I'm wondering if any of you have ever had something like this happen?
Now I'm thinking I had better be just a tiny bit more careful. Had I assumed it wasn't working after three or four hours I might have tried more. I might have been doing something I didn't WANT the Kratom to kick in. (Not likely, but sometimes). In any case, I just will now not assume things don't work even when they don't... for a long while.

Longest for me was 2hr. Didn't feel anything and then bam hit after 2hrs. Doesn't happen very often but ince in a while. Yes its weird. I figure it has something to do with what I've eaten. Or digestion. I am also stuck on a ppi so that may play a part.Kelleytoons wrote: ↑Sat Jul 23, 2022 5:09 pm Disclaimers out of the way: I take my Kratom in capsules. Ah, thanks (never heard of that before). Makes sense if the stomach acids are affected in any way it could alter the way Kratom works.
Not sure about ME but it was very interesting.

Re: Anyone had a REAL delay in effects?
YW. Yesterday mine took way longer than usual. I wanted to try Okie's white Borneo on its own to see what the hype's about. I took 5g and had 2 cups of tea and was still dragging but I stay in bed a long time playing on phone but it usually helps get me going but nope. I'm usually very impatient though and expect quick results. After awhile I decided I must need another 2.5g and took more WB, then finally started doing things like clean cat box and kitchen. Decided I wanted a nice breakfast and made eggs scrambled in a little butter, and had Havarti cheese with seeded spelt bread from Whole Foods and OJ. Then bam, after I ate it all kicked in and for a minute thought I might get wobbly but it was great, had lots of energy and positive mood all day, it was fantastic! Later on added some Benni's super yellow Kali and just kept going. Did my mom's grocery shopping and dropped it off then did mine which involved going to 3 different stores, then made a nice dinner. But the main point is at first I didn't feel anything for at least an hour and I should be more patient!

Yes proton pump inhibitor. They are terrible for you. Be on it for 20years and cant get off. Rebound is horrible.

Re: Anyone had a REAL delay in effects?
Most times, I have my kratom in a biiig cup of coffee (I do all the red bubble shenanigans and then dump it all in morning coffee to mask the taste), and it takes me an hour or so to drink the whole thing while I bop around the house doing other morning routine stuff. Sometimes I'll start feeling it before I'm done with the cup, other times I'll finish it and an hour or two will pass before suddenly I realize my pain is gone (or minimized) or my mood and energy are better. I'm always doing this on a completely empty stomach so I have no clue why there's a delay sometimes and not others.
Kratom is weird, man.

Re: Anyone had a REAL delay in effects?
i take 2/3 of my dose then wait ~20 minutes and take the other 1/3. usually I begin to notice effects within 45 minutes of the first partial dose, with peak effects starting 1.25-1.5 hours after that first dose. for some reason, it seems to help efficacy quite a bit.
even with that method, there are still some real creeper strains, usually of the red/slow variety, that don't become noticeable until 1.5 hours in, with peak effects coming in at around the 2 hour mark. I always take mine on an empty stomach, and keep everything else the same, so I'm fairly sure it's the specific strain that has this effect of a delayed onset.
for those on PPIs, I recommend trying famotidine (pepcid). when my doctor decided to take me off of the PPI, she switched it to famotidine, which I was highly skeptical about and whether it could work for my level of GERD. turns out it is just as effective for my particular problem, without some of the risks of PPIs.
