Tramadol and Kratom
Hi All.
I tore my distil bicep tendon and having surgery this Thursday. They prescribed me Tramadol. I have not and will not take it pre op because I take Kratom 3.5 gs 3-4 times a day for 3-4 years and doing just fine. Have no idea how I'm going to feel post op but was wondering if there are any concerns with Tramadol and Kratom together. Any serious interactions? Will the Tramadal diminish my burns? Take one over the other? Maybe use this time as a break and Tramadol only? Or Kratom only if its better for my pain. Any thoughts? Thanks again!

Re: Tramadol and Kratom
ALWAYS listen to your doctors and surgeon(s) first. Make sure he knows you are taking kratom. So far only one of my doctors was familiar with kratom and I told him of my usage and asked him about other patients. He said he has other patients that use kratom for pain and have positive results, be he obviously can't prescribe or recommend it because it doesn't come from a pharmacy. Tramadol IS an opioid and yes it most likely will affect kratom tolerance in some way. Tramadol is not the strongest out there but it should get the job done for post-OP pain IF needed. I was prescribed tramadol many years ago for severe foot pain. I only took it if I absolutely needed it. Your doctor's advice is priority IMO. Stick with the medical advice and take what is prescribed so you know exactly what your system has in it. Once you heal up enough where the pain is manageable without tramadol, kratom can make a come back. But again, always listen to your doctors first and I would not take any form of real medical advice from the internet.Gianster wrote: ↑Sun Jul 17, 2022 6:23 am Hi All.

Re: Tramadol and Kratom
Honestly I believe you would get more relief from the kratom then tramadol so if I had to choose one I would go with kratom. Generally I would say kratom is very tolerable being mixed with other substances with very few that actually interact but they do exist according to some though I have yet to find one it messes with. I would just listen to your doctor, and ask him if you are really concerned. Tramadol is a horrible attempt of making a less addicting pain killer, or whatever they intended it failed. It’s a trash drug in my opinion with no value at all.

I've seen doctors on r/medicine at Reddit call it a "garbage drug". A lot of people can't metabolize it to the point where it actually does anything.
About using it with kratom, I don't know.

Re: Tramadol and Kratom
Ive taken both and the effects of the kratom out weigh the effects of the tramadol. I got more relief from the kratom. Plus you get the mood boost. Tramadol 'to me' is a garbage painkiller and is more of a burden than a benefit. I have taken them both at the same time and you dont get anymore benifit or pain relief. My opinion is to pick one and stick with that. No need to mix.Gianster wrote: ↑Sun Jul 17, 2022 6:23 am Hi All.

Re: Tramadol and Kratom
I quit kratom while on Tramadol for 2-3 weeks. I agree with others it's not a good pain reliever. What it did do is make me feel content and lazy, like all I wanted to do is lie on the couch and didn't give a shit about anything. Yet when it was running out I felt that addict feeling of wanting more. I managed to get the script refilled but it quickly didn't work at all and made me in a bad mood. I went back to kratom and developed tinnitus for the 1st time ever after such short usage of Tramadol which was then also became a side effect of kratom but it's not as bad now... ir maybe I'm just more used to it.

Re: Tramadol and Kratom
I was prescribed tramadol for over a year many years ago for severe back problems. It did nothing to help with my back pain, but it did trigger my brain to think “addict” thoughts. I certainly don’t want to give medical advice but I can safely say that for myself, kratom has been far more beneficial in managing debilitating pain.

I had a reversal vasectomy in February and they also prescribed me tramadol but I only took 1 dose of tramadol then only kratom, which worked far better for ME. Tramadol is shit IMO.

Wow ! Thank you all for the replies! Well its unanimous, 100% with actual experience says stick with Kratom and Tramadol is shit. I think I'll dose the K first and see how it goes. Hopefully it works and the Tramadol goes in the trash. Thanks again all!

Re: Tramadol and Kratom
i’ve taken both for most of this year with no problems. it is good to have some laying around for the pain if i want to take a tolerance break, but yes, kratom is better.
somewhere between extra and ordinary

Re: Tramadol and Kratom
I remember reading a lot about tramadol possibly giving seizures over 400mg. It also does have a lot of interactions. Specifically with addrall I believe which I was taking at the time years ago when I used to steal my moms tramadol pills like a prick.
You might be better off just using one or the other during your recovery phase.
Imo kratom actually feels most similiar to tramadol.
I think that's what drew me to it initially.
