What strain/type makes you feel the most like you took an opioid?

Post by legaiaflame »

I've bought a lot of red strains over the years like Red Bali and Wild Red. And those strains made me feel the most euphoric like I was taking an opioid/percocet . But now a lot of vendors have recently run out and I can't find another strain that gives me this feeling again. Are there any other strains from any other vendors that come close to what I'm talking about? I"m sick of wasting my money trying to find the "one" again.

I promise I’m not coming for you, but public posts/statements like this are why kratom is under so much fire. Most use kratom for pain relief, anxiety, to stay sober, etc. Euphoria is just a plus.

Glad you said that. I felt the same thing about the OP.

Look - there's no question there are a lot of strains that provide euphoria but it's in no way a substitute for "getting high" (nor should it be). And chasing after that is a good prescription for tolerance issues.

Having said all that, all the stuff coming out now from the quality small vendors gives ME euphoria, in addition to pain relief (the main reason I take it). So TFH, Oties, Okies, Lucky's, Denettes, all those guys (and nearly all their strains) work their magic when taken responsibly (namely, small doses and small totals each day).

Any specific comparison to known drugs is not good, I agree. So the title is less than ideal. Having said that, I saw someone on another forum positively GO OFF on someone for using the word Euphoria. I like Euphoria, it works for me, it is a desired effect. I think outlawing words like that is ridiculous. If anyone in the kratom community thinks removing a word like Euphoria from the lexicon is going to stop these literally EVIL people who are trying to ban kratom, I think they are being willfully ignorant. In my opinion, and this is just my opinion, the vast majority of anti-kratom people are not just inexperienced or uninformed people who just don't know it's harmless, they know! The word Euphoria is not going to sway them one way or another. They will try to ban kratom out of control or greed until the day they die. The idea that we can play this little language game and they will just shrug and go away is ridiculous. And I'll say Euphoria the same way Dr. Johnny Fever said BOOGER!!!! Freedom baby! Just my 2 cents.

Euphoria is Good, no question about it.

When I get a REALLY good strain (like the recent green I tested for TFH, or the Dennete Red Bali I took two nights ago) what I like most is a combination of things. But, overall, what I would describe is not exactly euphoria but more of a "glad to be alive!" sort of feeling. It's a subtle but real difference - in my younger days I got high, and in my old age I've gotten drunk, but there is something pretty unique about kratom that makes it very different from those two (and different from the opioid feeling of highness as well, which I had early on in my usage but then quickly wore off and could not be recovered. Ever).

But, yes, we should not ban words. Words never hurt anyone, really (or if they did they just lived too sheltered a life).

I have to agree that posts like this do the kratom community as a whole no good. Make no mistake, this forum is viewed by those looking to ban this wonderful leaf. And big pharma has a LOT of money to help. No offense to the OP, but it’s just not a good idea, and casts a bad light on the millions of responsible kratom users IMO.

The first time I tried kratom it was 2015 and I had ordered some Red Maeng Da capsules from a vendor in my state after hearing something about it. The first time, I felt the feeling that you are describing but wasn't sure if I like it. I wasn't an opioid user except for times during post surgery. I felt for sure that I wouldn't be able to drive after I took it. The bottle of capsules lasted a few months but I got use to them. After doing research I tried green strains which I absolutely loved. No they didn't make me feel like an opioid but put me in a great mood, motivated me and gave me energy to do all the things I love. I hope you will try some green and white strains because they possibly could make you feel even better than that opioid feeling. It will be different but better. The first year or so everything worked well except most of the red strains. I tried them from different vendors but they didn't do much for me except the the very first few times I took it. I would always order a small amount along with green strains but they just aren't for me. Herbal RVA and Fused Flora have some excellent greens. I must add the only vendor that I enjoy Reds is from Texas Family Harvest but if you aren't a member that won't help much. But to close I must say Kratom is NOT an opioid at all. You won't be able to find the "one" again but you might find something you like even better and is much better for living a healthy life. Let us know how is goes and feel free to pm if you need to.

No one here (apart from the mods, lol) can ban a word - people are just explaining the damage that can come with using it. What they're saying is important to consider if you live in the US and pay attention to the groups that want kratom banned. That kind of terminology does us no favors, nor does asking for kratom that "feels like an opioid". Talking about the implications and consequences of certain terms is not the same thing as censorship or an infringement on rights and freedoms. You can say whatever you want. So can everyone else on the forum, and that includes those who take issue with what you're saying. If words held no power, language would be pointless. Words mean things. And people opposed to legal kratom often look for very specific words when they're trying to demonize it.

That aside, there is no one "strain" that can be recommended. To use the example of Red Bali - it won't be the same from vendor to vendor; it's just a name. There's no Red Bali-type kratom tree. You should be able to get whatever you're looking for from just about any potent batch of kratom. What it's called doesn't really make a difference in the end. I'd recommend joining some MeWe groups - a few vendors have them, and you'd get to peruse chats where people talk about recent drops, what they like best, etc. sometimes more actively than you'll see on DoubleM. If someone feels like they found an absolutely stellar batch, they'll usually hop on to say so. Here, you get reviews, but I'm guessing most folks don't want to start a whole new thread every time they have something they really enjoy, even if it was a game-changer for them.

Or if you have specific vendors you like to buy from already, ask them what their best sellers are and give them a go, see if they don't perform the way you want them to. If NOTHING ever feels good enough, it might be a tolerance issue.

Sanbutsushin good advice. I can't believe I forgot to add the tolerance issue. Taking a break would make a big difference.

Yes, words do have meaning. Which is often misinterpreted.

According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary website:

Definition of euphoria
: a feeling of well-being or elation

Euphoria Has Greek Roots
Health and happiness are often linked, sometimes even in etymologies. Nowadays euphoria generally refers to happiness, but it derives from euphoros, a Greek word that means "healthy." Given that root, it's not surprising that in its original English uses euphoria was a medical term. Its entry in an early 18th-century dictionary explains it as "the well-bearing of the Operation of a Medicine; that is, when the Sick Person finds himself eas'd or reliev'd by it." Modern physicians still use the term, but they aren't likely to prescribe something that will cause it. In contemporary medicine and psychology, euphoria can describe abnormal or inappropriate feelings such as those caused by an illicit drug or an illness.

I find this very interesting since it basically says they've changed a word that meant "healthy" into "abnormal or inappropriate feelings such as those caused by an illicit drug or an illness." Pretty much the definition of what they're trying to do to Kratom. The irony!

What LAP said above. Using those words is your best bet. Similar words/phrasing:

Low spec
Night time red
Heavy

Honestly your best bet is to snag some quality product via sample packs from any of the common vendors discussed on here routinely. It's really hit and miss per leaf/vendor/person.

But that's just not true though. I've tried a number of different vendors. And kratom is such an infuriating substance. Because depending on what I've read: if the plant is picked when it's too young or too mature, or not dried right, dried too short a time, dried wrong, contaminated, or dried too long, mature not mature enough, you get different feelings, results when taking whatever type the vedor is selling. It's a like a lottery. I found a good red that was very relaxing so I went with that for a couple years. Then the vedor ran out and all the other types he had did not give me that same feeling again. The opposite. I felt no relaxing affects from the other types they were selling or the ones I tried. And it was not high tolerance from taking it so long either. I know when its taking affect however small an affect. I can also tell by taste if it's not going to work either. If it's bitter tasting beyond belief, that tells me its a bad batch for whatever reason and is not going to work but make me feel the affect like I'm taking caffeine. Now I said bitter beyond belief not just a twinge of bitter. That's what I've come to realize over the years. The more disgustingly bitter it is. Almost cringeworthy bitter, it's not going to give you the relaxing affects.

So, back to my story. I had to switch vendors again. I finally found one that had that affect again. But guess what? They ran out again. So what did I do I tried some of this new vendors other so-called strains and again, none of them gave me that relaxing affect again. So its like a luck of the draw. Now I'm back to shopping around even more vendors again! Going after reds seems to give you more luck with that relaxing affect I'm looking for. But it's still random and you have to try a bunch of samples just to see. Even then you might not find it. That's my two cents, speaking from experience.

Posting, "dosing with ____ strain feels like I took a _____" is inappropriate on a public forum for obvious reasons previously mentioned.

You should be switching vendors much more frequently- that is why you start experiencing diminished effects.

I have only had one strain that felt like this in my five years of taking kratom. Finding a strain that delivers all of the desired effects is rare. I can find a strain that is somewhat relaxing and mood enhancing, but it will be lacking in providing pain relief. Kratom just isn't strong enough to have those kind of effects.

Of course you can always combine strains. Or do what my friend likes to call the "turbo boost" effect (take 2/3 of his dose and then 30 minutes later the other third of a different strain).

You usually add the pain reliever to the second dose - for me I add a red to one of my favorite greens or whites. It gives me ALL the feels.
