What is the best kind of magnesium to supplement with?

Probably Magnesium Biglycinate but depends what you’re trying to achieve. I believe the biglycinate form has the most bioavailability. I think oxide is the one that doesn’t get used well by the body. Citrate version is good too but too much can cause loose stools but good for muscle cramps. I believe there’s an Orotate form as well that’s good for deficiency.

Threonate and Malate are pricey but have their uses. I've heard good things about Magnesium Biglycinate as well.

Though I basically just stick to using Magnesium Citrate, which I buy by the kilo, and mix into my morning drink of fiber.

I love NatureMade magnesium citrate gummies and also need to add fiber, I use psyllium whole husks either mixed in water or cookies I bake.

I've just always grabbed the magnesium citrate, but I really dunno if it's doing anything. On the bright side, it's cheap and it's not hurting me I guess. When I did a really boring deep-Google-dive about it, everyone (online) seemed split, with maybe 40%-50% saying the citrate form is the way to go, though there does not really seem to be a consensus. And quite frankly, there are too many different 'kinds' of magnesium, we need to science them all together and move on to bigger issues in life.

Price vs effectiveness plays a role too, some of these super expensive ones that soo bioavailble, is it really a better magnesium bang for buck?

What’s everyone’s thoughts on chelated? Hope it’s not a scam, I know oxide is the non absorbed ones but through my quick googling I think the chelated is a good mid ground

Taking the chelated at night helps me sleep I think, and my mood overall. Unsure if it’s kratom related or not, I do have a relatively healthy diet and should be getting mag from sources, but when I supplement I notice a difference. It’s one of the only supplements I’ve noticed helping me, I think I notice vitamin d and b complex, but most else never seems to help vitamin wise. I’m a 30 year old male who was a heavy poly substance addict from 16-24 and have been on kratom for about 5 years, heroin being main substance. I try to stay at 15g a day max.

Yep. Same here, I buy the Nutricost Magnesium Citrate Powder (Unflavored, 500 Gram) a Bulk brand sold on Amazon... price & quality. Super Fine white fluffy powder.

Oddly I must recommend AVOID the "NOW Supplement" brand of Mag Citrate - they usually are good, but this has a weird grainy texture, does not mix well.

ALSO... Mag Glycinate ? yeah supposedly more bio-available but - Horrible smell of Dead Fish. Read many comments online. Tried it once. Never again.

LOL i have the powder from Nootropics depot. Absolutely wretched taste. It works tho I feel a sense of calm come over me within a minute after ingestion. I just toss and wash and wash it down with drinkable yogurt. seems to give a boost to slower kratom strains if you are looking for a good nights rest.

Just depends on whether someone is willing to bear the taste for higher bio-availability.

NOW brand magtein is a good option. It’s elemental magnesium threonate. I also find the oils/sprays work really well too but they can burn.
