Toss & Wash Question

Post by Burninator »

Ok so does anyone else toss and wash in the way where you put the powder in your mouth first, then water, then swish it around before swallowing? Is this safe for your teeth? I’ve been doing it this way for years with no problems but recently have been having dental issues with several teeth at once and I’m worried maybe the grit from the powder slowly wore down my enamel over time.. I’d never swish like it was mouthwash, just enough to mix it all up, but I’m still wondering if that might be the culprit…since I have otherwise exceptional dental hygiene. Have I been an oblivious idiot this whole time or am I overthinking things?

That’s exactly how I toss and wash too. No major dental problems and been doing this for many years. As we age, the enamel will break down over time regardless. Not sure how old you are, but getting more dental issues is fairly common. Which teeth are giving you problems?

Yes. Toss and wash. For me it's the quickest and most efficient. If I were having dental problems, I'd look to many factors, my hygiene (are you brushing too hard), my health, my diet (sugars and particularly acids) before I thought of kratom. It's a non sticky green leaf. Not sure how it would erode enamel

Years ago I was wondering why kratom bothered my stomach so much, made my dose up in hot water as usual
and checked it with a ph test strip and it was pretty acidic. Not good for teeth enamel.

I toss and wash by putting water in mouth first, I good sip then scoop then chug water and you don't even notice it go down. I use a gram spoon and pack it down good then it stays in a ball when I got it in and it's like taking a pill

I do the same. I've always had teeth problems, but it seemed it was rapidly going down hill recently. What I did learn is that this is more acidic and should be treated for as such. So after toss and wash, you want to neutralize the acid left in your mouth. They say not to brush immediately because it can do more harm to the enamel. I like to use this antiseptic mouthwash I get from heb. But it's basically hydrogen peroxide to be used as an oral debris agent. I believe it aids in ph level as well. However if it doesn't feel enough (I have acid reflux too) I sip on water with a little baking soda. I've read swishing with baking soda after toss and wash will help as well.

Is kratom more acidic than eating an orange or, drinking lemonade, or putting vinegar on your greens? Just wondering. Also when you toss and wash, doesn't everyone follow with drinking water i.e. "wash"? Asking for a friend.

I toss and wash like that and never had any issues. Don't quote me on this, but I don't think kratom is very rough on the teeth. I can't really see it as being overly abrasive or acidic. Perhaps some mild staining over time (similar to coffee) would the be the worst of it.

That's how I do it. Powder, drink, swish, then it does down and I drink some more, then repeat. I haven't had any issues with my teeth. I've been doing toss and wash on and off since 2015, but more consistently the last few years. I see the dentist twice a year and don't have any issues.

I have been tossing and washing for almost 10 years and while I don't floss everyday, my teeth have shown no sign of being negatively affected by it. Have a great day!
