I love the suggestions, I found one that I havent tried yet and am looking forward to it!
Now on the topic of blends - I have a genuine question, feedback would be appreciated!
I get people asking me all the time why we don't offer blends on our menu. My thought has always been that's a terrible idea, it just runs the risk of a member buying something that they already own...its just now mixed with something and given a new name. We actually work insanely hard to avoid this very situation on the Indonesian side of things (they love to mix a red and green in different ratios to sell you 15 "unique" batches, lol). As a consumer, nothing about that sounds appealing to me.
Why is this such a popular request? Yes I agree sometimes blends can be magical, but wouldn't you just rather blend them yourself? Ive always just shrugged the suggestion off, but when I read these threads it makes me wonder if I'm just the one who doesn't see the brilliance. Its like I work so hard to avoid this very thing, and yet so many people email us and ask for it, lol
I mean we do occasionally blend batches together, but we do it more as a process of "homogenizing" two different batches and then we just sell it as a single batch. We only do this when we have two small batches that would have very short lives on the menu or more frequently, if we discover in testing that there is a bit of cross tolerance in two different batches (unfortunately, sometimes batches we think are "unique" are not as "unique" as we think... thankfully we can test for this and its easy to spot).
So genuine question - Does the idea of us testing blends and selling them accordingly sound interesting? Are "blends" a service we are missing?
