Smear campaign is ramping up

I’m seeing negative kratom news all over the place in the last couple of weeks. The misinformation campaign is in full swing. Make no mistake, the FDA wants this stuff gone.

Even my backwater, middle-of-nowhere, lost-to-time Iowa town just had a segment on Kratom on the local evening news tonight. Of course, all negative press and just regurgitating all the lies and false reports the media has been spreading like wildfire lately.

As I sat there, swearing at the screen, and calling the news anchor an idiot, it gave me a very grim realization.

If the lies made their way into this nothing town, it can happen anywhere. Keep signing petitions, contact representatives (whether they are from your state or not!), and continue the fight to keep Kratom legal. It may not be happening in your state at the moment — but remember — it’s only a matter of time before it does if states keep falling one by one.

Yep. A friend just today sent me a USA Today article link. "91 kratom deaths", complete BS.

I replied: Read the Article. Look where it says "While in many of the fatal overdoses, other drugs, like fentanyl or cocaine, were also listed as a cause of death,".... Oh. Yes its possible, even likely, for some druggie to take kratom and ALSO... Die from taking Fent.

ALSO... Mayo Clinic just published an Article, with no sourcing.. Saying that kratom is "unsafe". So the Fake News are now citing Mayo Clinic as a reference.

For some odd reason, their 'research' doesn't speak to ONE of the many millions of people who benefits from Kratom.

They are basically saying because a junkie had kratom in thier system, the kratom killed them and not the heart-stopping amount of heroin. There is not one person in this, or any other study who died from Kratom alone.

Big Pharma already has patents on Mitra. The only way for them to control it is through a ban! Once
banned, Big Pharma can proceed to develop Kratom derivatives for prescription sales. BIG BIG money
to be made on multiple fronts by these profiteers.

Corrupt politicians and government officials are to blame for our present prescription ripoffs. These
companies couldn't price gouge if it weren't for the support of these enabling crooks. It would be
interesting to know how much money these ripoff artists are losing (not making) due to people using
kratom to treat pain, depression, anxiety, drug abuse and a host of other ailments. It has to be a
bundle and they want it all. To people of that ilk, kratom translates to $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
Dollar signs is really all they're seeing...an opportunity to further rip off an estimated 3-5 million kratomites!

Eliminating kratom from the market really has very little to do with saving lives! That's just their excuse
for banning it. They know that kratom isn't really at issue in these supposed deaths. The issue is the
greenbacks! One more thing I'd like to know, just how much money is Big Pharma spending for lobbyists
in the fight against kratom? It has to be very substantial.

It's absolutely disgusting to me that mainstream news sources are just printing straight up lies. First time I've ever identified with Trump and his hatred of the news. CNN reported that kratom was "the cause" of death in 91 of the deaths. Even the FDA isn't outright stating that it was the cause in every single death, they're only lying about the fact that they think it's a major contributing factor even in the absence of evidence.

Almost all of these deaths are easily explained by the overdoses of prescription or illicit drugs found in their system - a bunch overdosed on heroin or fentanyl, a few had excessive amounts of ssris, a whole lot overdosed on Imodium and died of a heart attack. Guess what excessive amounts of loperamide can cause? Major cardiac events. Who is likely to have large amounts of Imodium or kratom in their system to help with withdrawals? People coming off of opiates. Must be the kratom though, not the Imodium that is WELL DOCUMENTED to cause heart attacks.

Want more examples of just how blatantly the FDA is lying to the public? One lady fell out of a window and refused treatment, so she died shortly after... totally the kratom's fault though.

Another lady INTENTIONALLY overdosed on Tylenol, a drug that can and will cause your liver to shut down, killing you quickly without immediate medical attention. Oh, but she had kratom in her system, better count it as a kratom caused death.

So far, only 7 of the deceased did not have other drugs in their systems. Out of the millions of people that use kratom, 7 people suddenly dying that happen to use kratom is an anomaly. To claim that kratom was a contributing factor has no basis in reality and is an obvious stretch of the truth, and it's just plain bad science. They're counting on the general public to just eat that shit up. Why can't journalists do basic research? Why are they just repeating the FDA's lies?

It makes my blood boil that they're able to just get away with blatantly lying.. they're accountable to no one. The FDA and DEA suffer from a serious case of regulatory capture - the industry that they're supposed to be regulating are regulating themselves. I think anti vaxxers and people that are opposed to pharmaceutical medicine are ridiculous but this experience has showed me that their distrust of the industry is not without merit.

Kratom being a good thing doesn't make for a good news story, so they go with whatever is most likely to generate the most interest/attention. Bad news sells. But for once it's a good thing that most Americans don't pay attention to the world around them anyway, and most people are totally ignorant that kratom even exists. Ironically, kratom advocates are likely the bulk of the readership of these antikratom articles. The news outlets may be trying to get the public to hate kratom, but there's no way they'll ever be as passionate about banning it as we are about keeping it legal. I try not to pay too much mind to these sensationalist stories; it's important to be aware of what they are saying, but getting angry is hurting you more than helping. Be vigilant, but don't feed into it and let them manipulate your emotions.

Yep, I just watched a short piece on the morning news (Atlanta WSB). They news anchor looks grimly into the camera and says:

“the CDC says that Kratom, a popular over the counter drug used for opiate withdrawals, caused nearly 100 deaths in just over a year. Right now it’s legal, but the government is considering banning the substance.”
This was the dialog, but the video shows a woman taking a big teaspoon of powder T&W. Several more piles of powder were separated out on a tray looking like they were going to be her next “hits”. The nicest way I can describe her appearance is that she didn’t look like she was quite ready to be on camera.


Maybe the FDA has recruited the CDC in their war. I had a little more respect for the CDC until now. I guess they are in Pharma’s back pocket too. Blatant, unbelievable lies. Are they trying to ruin any credibility they might need later on when the country is faced with some serious epidemic?

And this is in a state that just passed a bill to protect access to Kratom. WTF???

Their logic just baffles me! It’s like saying “this guy had fentanyl and Cheetos in his system when he died. Cause of death - Cheetos!” And then - “Breaking news- the CDC has warned that Cheetos are responsible for a rising number of overdose deaths”. Fucking moronic puppets.

Your last paragraph is RIGHT ON POINT! In the REAL WORLD (where I happen to reside) Cheetos probably HAVE caused more deaths than kratom. Don't they have ANYTHING more important to worry about or is it a slow news time and they have to fill the blank times in their broadcasts somehow? Kratom's safety profile is a non-issue and any actual study you reference from an ACTUAL scientific institution will factually prove this to you. They are grasping at straws and even my mom sees that! (She is staunchly anti-drug and even is against marijuana, but sees that I'm clean now and realizes kratom is the reason. So she likes it for that reason.)

Republicans STARTED the whole failed "War On Drugs" back in the 80's under Reagan.. I voted for Ronnie & I live with that mistake! Its been 40 years of Christian Conservative Cops, jailing and killing people over a little marijuana...

Now, JUST when it appears "We Won" and states are legalizing weed - Hold On. They need to demonize another plant, it seems the entire Law Enforcement & prison industry is largely based on busting people for pot.. How much property and $$ has been "seized" (stolen) under Civil Forfeiture laws in this country? Yes - Big Pharma is definitely part of the problem. They helped to create the Opioid Crisis, 100 people a DAY dying from overdose.. Kratom IS one solution and yes, the discussion has broken down politically!! Republicans in Congress DID try to ban kratom!!

In Georgia, we have some support from the Republican side of the fence as well as opposition from the Democratic side. I don’t know if it’s as partisan as people think. I would imagine Big Pharma’s got plenty of shareholders from both sides.

Sure nothing's cut & dried, we know the Libertarian strain of GOP (Sen. Rand Paul,) are for personal freedom as Gary Johnson's prez campaign last year went nowhere, he's a big pothead.. Interesting to see his VP, Bill Weld now talking about a Primary challenge to Trump. Good luck on that

Nice to see the Red state of Utah, leading the way with AKA enacting the Kratom Protection Act - that's the road map for all states now. Out here, Oregon is following that too. Super liberal state 1st time women are a majority in the State house
