So posting a PICTURE will be required for the Trading Post? Most trades I have made never involved a picture of anything. Not sure that would be absolutely necessary (for me anyway), and is likely to cause low tech guys like ME problems. Won't that eat up a lot of "resources" on the site as well? Anyway, I have never found a picture necessary to make a trade but I guess it's fine...but to make it a REQUIREMENT?...If that's gonna be the LAW, can you post "low tech" instructions on posting pics here someplace. (I quickly looked and didn't find anything..maybe I missed it). I always seem to have trouble with pictures. No way to know a picture is really what is offered anyway...just like most Vendor sites with pics...they are not really pics of what they are currently selling?

Good Question. It's important for Trading Post to establish Rules, customs and guidelines, from the start. I DO think a Photo should be required, especially since this phpBB Forum is excellent for graphics. It's much better than Reddit, for example, where embedded photos were not allowed.

PHOTO of the original package, at least gives some proof to Buyer, that Seller does own the original product being sold. In the case of original, sealed, package - photo is easy, example below. Anyway a photo is kind of minimum Buyer Protection and will make Trading Post the #1 kratom swap sell place online. There is FREE photo hosting on Imgur.com !!

IN CASE of NON original package, where Seller has re-bagged the original product. For example, breaking down a Kilo into 100 gram bags. PHOTO of the re-bagged product For Sale, should be posted. In both cases (Original or NON original package,) Seller posts a PHOTO of the actual item being shipped!! There is FREE photo hosting at Imgur.com

Rules and Guidelines, are in place to benefit both the Buyer and Seller. AT LEAST the Seller should post photo, of WHAT he's selling? Is that too much to ask? Along with Name of item, Source of item, Date purchased by Seller, Batch # if known, etc.

Yes, absolutely. I'm working on a Tutorial for taking PHOTO using phone & uploading to Imgur .. then Re-size and crop, (part of Imgur!) and finally, posting that photo LINK to your Trading Post ad!!

I believe E. is thinking Long Term, what's BEST for the Community .. Many ppl have stuff to sell or trade. This IS gonna be very popular, might as well DO it right from the get-go. Pretty simple! POST a photo, of WHAT you are shipping. Buyer receives shipment... At Least it should look like the photo.

TRUE, there's NO way to identify green powder. That's true for "vendors", back-packers, or guys selling from their Gmail account... At Least buying & selling on Trading Post, Buyers will get a photo of exactly WHAT is being shipped!! Just like Ebay, Etsy, Amazon, or any other place on the Internet...

We're gonna have ALL kinds of stuff .. Vintage Leaf from 2017! Indo samples. Limited, collectors, connoisseurs, gourmet items! Rare and Hard-to-find items.. And.. Yes there's gonna be LOTS of good average kratom. And some below average. Stuff that's Dirt Cheap. Sellers will have Flair and a reputation. Honesty IS always... The Best Policy!!

My photos go from phone to Imgur to desktop to forum and I'm not sure if I could explain how to do it. I've tried.

I think a picture is best. By taking a unique picture, it shows you own the product in question, or at least it will be fairly hard to fake. However, if too many people are against this policy, we won't implement it.

I personally don't care either way... But maybe would be better to make photos PREFERRED RATHER THAN REQUIRED?? I dunno just a thought.

I am fine with photo's (required or "recommended"), I'm just tech challenged. Thanks for all the responses and I look forward to LEARNING how to post pictures properly. Just wish I could go direct from my PC to here like I can on Facebook? I WILL figure it out, but a nice tutorial would be good to have anyway...I'm sure IMGUR has a tutorial too, I'll start there. Thanks everyone. You guys are great.

There's actually 2 options for adding a picture:

If you want to embed the picture in your post, you will need to use a 3rd party like imgur.

However, there's also an option to upload a picture directly from your computer and it will add it as an attachment to your post. In this case, you wouldn't have to mess with any 3rd party software. When posting, look below the post input area (below the preview/submit buttons) and you will see an option to 'upload attachment'.

Does a direct upload strip info such as GPS location, or is it up to the user to do that prior to uploading?

I doubt this software strips anything. You'd have to do that prior to uploading. Although, if you go the imgur route, I'm pretty sure they strip the data on every upload.

Curious, how many # are on a desktop PC, like me.. And how many Phone? I know lots use a phone, and any graphics of course is a whole different story then. I could take Imgur screen shots for PC.. Another piece of software I use, is IrfanView it's a well known free Image editor.

I use a phone and haven't had any issues with pics so far. It seems like the forum automatically resizes it, not 100% on this but the pics in attachments are always sized correctly. As far as uploading pics from my camera/files, it's extremely simple and quick. I do use the lowest resolution when taking pics; it suffices.

I'd be interested in a payment method thread. I for one am not very educated in the new apps like cashapp and venmo so on, and it would certainly be helpful to have that information centralized here for those uninitiated. No sourcing or hinting, of course. I wouldn't be surprised if this is objected to however, so nbd...just wanted to express my interest.

Yeah it's sort of a deal breaker for me as far as listing my own sales, inconvenient for me and also don't know how to post a picture. I'll participate in buying though and I probably won't even look at the pictures you guys take time posting

Selling $20-30 worth of kratom is pretty low-stakes. I doubt anyone is going to resort to those types of shenanigans over a small amount of money, to where we need to be that stringent. I hope the users they allow to be members are trusted more than that. Plus there's the flair system.

That being said I didn't even think about the flairs being implemented and all that jazz. For a second my brain thought this was about to be the wild wild west and everyone would be able to do trades and such all willy nilly. Was gonna have to break out my red cowboy boots.
