Ketapang or Hulu? I can't decide...

If you had to choose between Garuda's Green Hulu and Green Ketapang - which would you pick? I've never tried either of those two strains from them and I'm super curious, but on a limited budget, so I'm forcing myself to try just one this week. Any advice? I'd be happy to take advice on other colors of the rainbow, too, aside from reds, which I'm not a huge fan of. Thanks!

If it were me,I'd go green keta just because I've never tried it, or seen my vendors carry it. Green hulu seems more common...for what's it worth, which ain't much.

Hard to say, each vendor is different, but Green Hulu is the more well known brand, usually called "Hulu Kapuas" named after the village, and the Kapuas River which is the world's 2nd longest river next to the Amazon!

It's funny ,Jaydelyn, 2 weeks ago I purchased from Garuda and The Greenery. Within those orders I got both Green Ketapang and Green Hulu... but unfortunately, not from Garuda. I got both those strains from The Greenery. So I cant accurately answer your question. I've only tried the Ketapang so far... it was my first time trying any Ketapang, and in all honesty, I wasn't overly impressed. That's just one day's usage in both a small and average (for me) sized doses. I'm not saying it was bad, it just didn't stand out compared to others I've had lately. I was actually getting ready to post a review on it when I saw your post. Depending on what you're looking for (energy, euphoria, sedation, pain relief, etc.) I can highly recommend either Super Green or Wild Green from Garuda. I enjoyed both of those strains very much for different reasons (reviews of those already posted). I've been really impressed with Garuda's quality. It does come with a heaftier price-tag than other vendors. But so far I've had no complaints. I just checked Garuda's website and it seems the only Greens they currently have in stock are the two you mentioned and Wild Green (I guess I got lucky getting Super Green when I did. Unfortunely, I only got 1oz.) To sum up, having no experience with the two strains from Garuda but having good success with Hulus in the past, personally, I'd pick the Green Hulu... but that's just my opinion, and I wouldn't hold much stock in it myself until I tried it.

I've had their Wild Green and I loooove it. Unfortunately all they have left of it is the 28g size, and to order any of those in a substantial quantity just gets too expensive (we - hubs and me - tend to order a few weeks worth at a time). I really, really wish they had more of it, and I hope it's a regular thing they get (just recently started ordering from them based on reviews here and on the old sub) - do you happen to know if the wild or super wild are strains that are a regular thing for them? Happens to me every time - I find a strain I love, and in two weeks it's all gone, and I start my hunt for the perfect strain all over again, lol.

I think I'm going to go with the Hulu because of my general track record with it across vendors. I've never tried any Ketapang that I can recall, and the two mentions I've seen of any in the last few days (Ketapang from other vendors, anyway) have not been stellar.

Jadelyn, according to a top bar notice on their website, they should be getting more of several of their "sold out" strains in soon.

I've only ordered from them once myself and like you only became aware of them based on mentions of them and listings on this forum. I want to order their Super Green again (for me Super was a fast Green and Wild was a slow green). I've never had their Super Wild Green nor ever saw it listed on their website during the 2 weeks I've known about Garuda. It was HerbalHippie's review that got me interested in that strain and when I asked Hippie about it he said it was quite a long time ago that he ordered it. So I don't know if they carry it any more. What I plan to do real soon is blend Super Green and Wild Green together 1:1 and see if I can match Hippe's description of it. I'm lucky enough to still have some left of both Super and Wild, but not a lot, unfortunately. So like you, I'll be waiting until Garuda restocks for either of those strains. Oh, and I believe I also got Super Maeng Da from them (which is also sold out) but I haven't tried it yet. Maybe I will later today... or tomorrow... I haven't decided yet

Thanks KrateAndVape! I just noticed that info about their sold out strains, too. Also, I didn't see it before, but they have a 4-way split kilo so I opted for that in the meantime, and that way I get to try both the Hulu and the Ketapang, plus some yellow and their Sirin blend (which sounds very mysterious and fun, ha). Hopefully they'll all be awesome. If nothing else, I'll have fun trying different blends from them while I impatiently await the return of my favorite

I'm also very curious about their Super Wild Green since I liked their regular Wild Green so much. I hope they get it back in stock for my next order!

I also have their Sirin blend and darn near tried it yesterday but didn't because I can't find any description of it any where. I was heading off to work at the time and don't like trying a new blend without know at least knowing what it's comprised of unless I'm going to be home. Most sites will at least give you the vein colors, but according to their website this one is a trade secret. I would assume that's why it's not sold out and it's less expensive than others on their site. I wonder if I'll be able to "crack the code" Maybe on my next day off I'll give it a go.

Very interesting, Blends. I have a 10g sample of White Ketapang that The Greenery sent me with my order. I plan on testing it soon with a review to follow. I know every vendor / strain is different, but generally has White Ketapang been a very fast strain for you?

The worst crushed leaf that I've ever had, by far I might add, was green ketapang. It's the only tea that I've ever had that turned out yellow, like Mountain Dew.

I only recently got into whites (and even then only in blends) so I don't know about anyone else's white ket, but Herbal RVA's is definitely one of my favorites. Very solid, decent legs, strong, smooth, no weirdness.

I can't remember whose it was, but I did have a very less-than optimal green ket from somewhere. I think it went into the tincture a couple months ago, where every strain ends up the same.

Hey Wot! I love Mt. Dew! Not sure I want my tea looking like that though.

As an aside, anyone in here into making tea (even if you aren't currently, give it a try!) WotAnAtti2d has some of the best crushed leaf I've ever tried. Currently testing 6 bottles of tea. Yum!

Yes. It blends well with mellow greens when I need some "get up and go" motivation and energy.
