Magnesium

Post by herbalhippie »

We have some members here that are quite knowledgeable about supplements, maybe someone can give me some ideas.

I need a magnesium supplement that absorbs well and helps with constipation from kratom but not too much. I've been taking magnesium citrate and the effects are a little bit more than what I need if you get my drift.

Thanks!

Maybe you should try a shot of Braggs Apple Cider Vinegar in the morning, that usually works for me when I don't take the Mag. ;)

Try magnesium glycinate instead.... I was using that instead which helped the slightest bit but not enough for me so I now use citrate which works great for me now. But yeah, I would try a magnesium glycinate rather than citrate then. Hope that helps hh, good luck!

Then just use a bit LESS ? :D

I went through a bag of Mag Glycinate - the smell & taste is very weird. Its been described as rotten fishy smelling... :o

The Trick to using Mag Citrate IS... dissolve in water. Especially with a little OJ or citrus ( exactly how I drink my kratom! ). Let sit in fridge for 30 min. Bingo it's dissolved and it's now totally bioavailable!

Both are good forms of Magnesium. yeah Citrate has more osmosis action for loosening the gut... Citrate is bound to citric acid. Glycinate is bound to amino acid.

I'm taking softgels, not powder. Ordered some glycinate capsules off Amazon, I'll see how that works for me.

Rotten fish, ugh.

When I took the capsules I didn't notice any smell or taste like that, so I wouldn't worry too much! I have noticed since I've switched to citrate powder that I feel like it smells just like anti-freeze..... So yeah, that not super awesome but it works great hahahaha!!

Herbalhippie I started taking, Magnesium L-Threonate from ND and so far so good! Supposedly it is best form for metabolization and cognition! *
Here is the link! - https://nootropicsdepot.com/magnesium-l ... te-powder/
You can get Magtein in either powder form for a cheaper price or capsuled.

I got the capped form and I am very pleased. Check out others reviews too!
Good luck. :P

Mag oxide 500mg straddles the line of helping with constipation without all out diarrhea. It's one of the weaker types but for my purposes it's perfect. Sometimes I use it every other day instead of daily. I get two for one at Walgreens so a 4-6month supply is under $20

Magnesium Malate! There is nothing better, except the Glycinate, if you need anxiety relief as well.

No, Magnesium does not potentiate Kratom at all, there is just no way that it can. It works mostly via the NMDA antagonism, and reduces ones tolerance. Its Oxide form is hardly useful at all as it does not get past the GI tract. Cat's Claw and Turmeric extract are also good tolerance mitigators.

Magnesium citrate is by degree. Personal doses. The doses they list are usually catastrophic.
Going to try the vinegar as an alternate tho.

uhhh... huh? can anyone help translate this

The latest and greatest is Magnesium L-Threonate. I'm the first to mention that? There is a patented version called Magtein. Amazon Link: https://www.amazon.com/s?k=magtein ... Read up on this. Advanced form of Magnesium supplement, has no laxative effect, does have enhanced cognitive function, mood enhancement, aka "Brain Magnesium". I see that Liftmode now sells it, however their price is not competitive with Amazon's many varieties.

I use a supplement called CALM, I don’t know all the mechanisms involved with it but I think it’s a good quality source and is relatively affordable. Tastes great too... mixed with juice or water and with kratom ... very nice . I’d post a pic of the container .. I’ll try to figure out how to do that

I took magtein, mag l-threonate and that seemed to be pretty good. Good for relaxation.

Right now I take 1 magnesium malate everyday because I heard that's really good for people who have fibromyalgia or RLS (which I used to have)....and

I also just started taking this liquid magnesium called ReMag. Someone suggested it for its bioavailability and I take it at night and it knocks me out unlike any other magnesium supplement plus its the only one that's helped with constipation issues. (Luckily the laxative effects aren't immediate so I can take it and go to bed.) Only problem is that it's $60 a bottle shipped but its 192 servings and right now I only take 1 serving a day. I could maybe add another half serving. Id highly recommend it, if you can afford it read some reviews and try it. The bottle I have is 16.2oz and I think there's an 8.1oz bottle for like $35.

Id also mention you can always soak in epsom salts. If you take baths that works else I soak my feet every day for about 30 min in himalayan pink salts that I get for $4 a bag bulk at Vitamin Cottage. That won't help with constipation but it does for relaxation.
