Has anyone tried these recent additions from TFah?
The new saphire Sunda, 30 yr wild red Bali, super green supreme, jungle green hulu, and wild white MD? Any reviews would be helpful!

Re: Has anyone tried these recent additions from TFah?
I was wondering the same thing, plus there is the Red Dayak...!
I believe I saw the Red Bali before, and I looked it up here when trying to decide between that and the Red Bali Reserve. I picked the RBR, which was an excellent choice.
Also, recently I looked here for feedback on the Red Sapphire Sunda and apparently months ago it was available not just as crushed, but also in powder, and the reviews were good. Of course, it all comes down to batch number, but when looking up the 30 Year Red Bali and Sapphire Sunda, both were good daytime reds, I think.
The TFH Red Sapphire Sunda of this particular batch number had not been reviewed yet...

TFah has some good leaf but have you tried An-TFah? Theirs is so good you'll flip a car over and set it on fire.

I did not know what to make of this one. TFah had me very confused, lol.
How did the abbreviation get so weird? Congrats to the OP for making us wonder what Texas Family aaaahhh might be. It is certainly that -
Good to know that the Red Dayak is a winner.

I don't mesh well with super green supreme, dunno why, but it never does it for me.
Sapphire sunda, though, is nice and dreamy, I'd call it an afternoon necessity.

I got the Jungle Green Hulu a couple of weeks ago and love it. It is powerful, sort of mid-spec (I'd say it was fast-leaning but I dose pretty low these days, which definitely helps bring the energy of many "strains" out), great moodlift, nice pain relief....kind of everything I look for in a green. It also has some of those very notable qualities that make certain TFH batches feel really unique and which are hard to describe. A certain presence, if that makes any sense at all.Spencemastaflex wrote:The new saphire Sunda, 30 yr wild red Bali, super green supreme, jungle green hulu, and wild white MD? Also: the other day, I went into my stash for my morning dose, and the Green Hulu was right next to my bag of TFH Yellow Borneo. I decided to do a 50-50 split dose of the two and it was one of the best burns I'd had in weeks....the two just worked so well together for me; it brought the moodlift out even more and hit me in all the right places.
I haven't tried any of the others you mentioned, Spence but am definitely curious about the Wild White MD. Anyone try it yet?

Saturday I got my batches in. The Red Dayak, Sapphire Sunda, & Red Kali are great traditional green-colored reds. The Dayak & Kali both knock me out. The Old School Green Bali is ok - pretty mild but pleasant. None of the other greens I got did much for me: Super Green Bali, Super Green Sunda, Old Fashioned Green River Harvest. I've been real careful with the Wild White Maeng Da2, only took 1g since some whites aggravate my heart problem, so it'll be awhile before I get up to a 2g dose to give it a good try. The 30 Year Yellow Maeng Da didn't do anything for me but I only tried it once so far.

Thanks for that info; was very curious about some of those! The Old School Green Bali really grew on me, one of my fave TFH's for pain, I usually pair it with a white 2:1.pray4peace4 wrote:Saturday I got my batches in. This will probably sound dumb:
"Sapphire" is a very cool name for a kratom batch. But Sapphires ARE BLUE. I'm wondering why a 'red' strain would be described as "blue."
I very much want to try the sapphires, but is this just a weird way of saying that they are energetic - more like a green???? I'm looking for a laid-back experience.
Sorry, this has bugged me for a while.

Saffires come in a range of colors, like a lot of gems, but the ones we think about most frequently are blue.Greyfeather wrote:This will probably sound dumb:

The sapphire name comes from my over-confidence and incompetence when it comes to my understanding of precious stones. Sapphires are graded/valued by thier "purity", which metaphorically correlates to the production technique used to make these batches. With that, Sapphire seemed perfectly fitting for the first "red" batch that appeared on our menu using this technique. All of this would have been epically awesome... if sapphires were actually red. Smartypants here was so confident in his precious stone game that he didnt even bother doing a quick google search to double-check himself. As it turns out, I was thinking of a RUBY - which is kind of like a sapphire (I keep telling myself that anyways). At any rate, the labels were already made and the testers had already gone out before my puzzled wife pointed out the obvious problem.
What amazes me is literally nobody else up to this point has ever pointed it out (that I can recall at least). I know that some of you are probably in some private kratom groups and have already talked about this and laughed at my expense.... I thought you guys were my friends. (I think this falls into the category that you are supposed to tell a friend that just came out of the public bathroom that they have toilet paper stuck to the bottom of their foot.)
Once the brains of the operation pointed it out, "Ruby Red" became the obvious name change option. However, we didnt want to mix things up for the folks who tested/purchased sapphire batches and might make buying decisions in the future off of it (which I usually reccomend against, but I know people do). Basically, it came down to whether I wanted to preserve my dignity or keep it consistent for our members... that was an easy decision
With that said, I always reccomend that folks do not invest too much in the names of a product. I would say that with the vast majority of the kratom sold in the US that there is little correlation between a batch's name and its origin (and even much less correlation with what techniques were applied in its production). I'd wager large sums of money that the VAST majority of kratom vendors in the US have zero knowledge about where thier product actually comes from, even though they might think they do. We try our best to give meaning to the batch names (consistent with locations, suppliers, production techniques, etc...), but even then I always tell people NOT to take it as gospel (for example.... our "Bali's" do not actually come from Bali). Also, some batches earn a sobriquet on nothing more than a personal inspiration. I'll copy and paste a recent example of that below - its from an email from a customer who was inquiring why the 24k Kali has the name "Midas Touch" next to it. See below:
"Midas touch" was just added in a moment of personal whimsical inspiration. For various technical reasons, I did not have the highest of hopes for how this specific batch was going to perform... I was pretty sure it was going to be a total flop. However, I pleasantly surprised by how incorrect my pre-judgments were... I personally love it! With that, I had a moment of personal admiration for the craftsmanship of the producer. In my moment of surprise, I had the corny and cliche thought that "man, everything this guy touches turns to gold". [/i]
So what does "Midas Touch" tell you as the consumer? Admittedly not too much, but I cant help myself sometimes
PS - To give a little more helpful info, both of the current "Sapphire" batches on our menu are actually "greens" but they became reds as a result of our survey data (I am aware of how confusing that statement must be). If you are looking for what most would traditionally view as a "green", try out our "Jade and Emerald" varieties. IMO, both of the sapphires on the menu are very nice.. most testers agree!
PPS - Ruby Red does roll right off the tongue, that might show up sometime in the future if something ever warrants it.

You have no idea how long I have been waiting for this post!
And I'm so pleased to know I wasn't far off the mark! I'm grateful that you explained how this batch found its "color' despite the confusion about gemstones. Congrats for reminding us again that a batch of kratom is only regarded a certain 'color' because enough people have claimed that the kratom is ACTING like something associated with redness (ie,. "calming or sedating"). Of course the name is mostly arbitrary but, at the same time, whole generations of kratomites can easily remember the name of their favorite batches. And, hey, it's a tried and true marketing tool.
I'm viewing this as a wonderfully comic moment - because that's how you are treating it. The idea of your 'Other Half' giving you the old Side Eye over a name choice is 'precious', imo. These days, it takes a lot of courage to say "That's not what I meant!"
I still think that "Sapphire" is a really cool name. Only recently I was looking over the TFH menu, thinking hard about the Sapphires and then it struck me that Princess Di's engagement ring is a big, honkin' blue sapphire. So, red or not red, the association is still quite delicious.
Thanks for joining in the conversation. It's always a treat; we learn something and you're a total gem for participating.

Re: Has anyone tried these recent additions from TFah?
Actually gems come in a lot of colors, more than just the popular notion of rubies are red, sapphires are blue, emeralds are green, diamonds are clear, etc. It's which minerals that create the colors of the stones, which fall between a spectrum of colors and produce different gems.
I took an online geology class as my last class before my graduation.
Saffire sunda sounds great, so does ruby red.

My ex is a rockhead and MAAAY have pointed that out when i got the first batch. I figured it was because Ruby Sunda is a little bit "clunky." Although...I just said it out loud a few times for fun and it isn't as bad as I thought. All good, gumby. I just thought it was because it sounded nice.

I've seen that some say the Red Dayak is a good daytime Red but I found quite the opposite.WhiteAngelica wrote:I was wondering the same thing, plus there is the Red Dayak.
(All of us know how fickle the leaf can be)
For me the Red Dayak is wonderful for evening use. It starts with a little energy and then melts
into a slow, warm and VERY euphoric burn with top notch pain relief and anti-anxiety properties.
I actually went to bed and forced myself to stay awake so that I could bask in the sweet wonderfulness
of this TFah offering!
