USPS Delays - Your Vendor Is Not To Blame!

Post by kraydokratom »

Hey all! I just wanted to bring this up so no vendors (including the Kraydo team!) get beat up over this.

Every year, the week of Black Friday and the week of Cyber Monday are crazy for shipping! Some packages are delivered without any issues, but a lot of them will have delays. This year, many large retailers chose to do Black Friday online IN ADDITION to Cyber Monday to keep large store crowds down to a minimum. This has caused the mail volume to increase exponentially this particular year.

For us, about 95% of the packages that we shipped out Monday were scanned as "received" but still have not been scanned as "accepted" 4 days later. Out of those folks, nearly every one emailed us to see what's going on since they know we take our same-day shipping policy very seriously. Our post office manager said it is possible that the postal worker did not properly scan them as "accepted" before forwarding them to the distribution facility, which can definitely happen possible during holiday rushes. This could potentially make the tracking not update until the package hits the local distribution facility on or near the actual delivery date. Other times, during a huge influx of mail, the distribution facilities will be bogged down and a package may not move for a few days. In this case it could take up to 1-2 weeks to arrive. Two weeks is not common but I've seen it happen a few times in previous years.

Please don't assume that your vendor didn't ship your order! Here's how to tell if your order has truly shipped: If you receive an email stating, "Your order has shipped!" but your tracking says "Label created, USPS awaiting item", it means the vendor printed your label and is preparing your order. It does not mean the order has actually shipped, or that your package was dropped off at the post office. If your tracking says "Shipment received, awaiting acceptance", that means your item has been dropped off at the post office with a SCAN form, but the USPS has not done an actual acceptance scan at that point. "Shipment received" does mean the USPS has your package in their possession. Normally the acceptance scan will happen within about 12 hours of the package being dropped off, give or take. Then the package will go to a distribution facility and be dispersed from there.

So everyone, please understand that most of us vendors out here are working double time during holiday rushes, and most of us truly care about getting your packages out immediately. If we normally ship same-day, we won't let you down. Sometimes things happen outside of our control but the most we can do is ship the package out on time and hope the USPS delivers quickly. Once the USPS has your item, it's up to them to do their job since we have done ours.

Keep this all in mind and try to have a backup stash, because things may not return to 100% normal until January. The next couple weeks may be a bit better but remember this same thing may happen around Christmas!

Have a great weekend everyone! Stay positive, humble, and put some LOVE out there! The world needs it!

I noticed yesterday when tracking a package that USPS said it had been delayed, it's out for delivery now, so it was 1 day late, nothing to worry about. :) I feel pretty lenient with USPS since they are about 1/2 the price of other shipping options, but if I had paid $50 for overnight, then I don't care who had a holiday, where my package at ?! ha-ha.

lol You're lucky it was only one day late! I'd say that's "early" this time of year! And yes, fortunately Express orders seem to still be on time for the most part. 1-2 day delivery depending on the zone! I'm glad you received your package.

These days (for the most part) you can track when the delivery service, be it UPS/USPS/Fed Ex etc. gets the package, so assuming the seller gets it to them within 48-72 hours of an order being placed then yeah, they did their part, and we (the customer) can see that it's the delivery company's fault if it's slow or late. But really, we're pretty spoiled and have been for a loonnggg time now. Ever since the cheap 'priority' USPS boxes and envelopes started in what, the late 1990's or so ? You can pretty much get a package from anywhere in the continental U.S. in 5 days or less once they have received it from the seller. To me, that's crazy fast, mail order used to be a waiting game before that, and there was no online tracking to make ya feel better about the wait ha-ha :)

Ain't that the truth! Honestly USPS typically does a great job, considering their volume. Their percentage of mess-ups is still extremely low in my opinion. Times like this where it's a holiday AND pandemic, we can cut them a little slack! All in all, our experience with them has been very positive and they are MUCH cheaper than FedEx or UPS. Mail has definitely come a long way though! :D

Yes they are! 10 days is crazy, but if they can accurately track the package, they at least know it's on the way! Kratom is one of the few things that's time-sensitive for most people, so it can definitely be defeating to be waiting with no end in sight!

I agree, usps does a great job and for every 20 packages I order, only 1 or 2 take much longer than the estimated delivery date. Sometimes I'll get a three day priority in two days, even in 2020. I can certainly empathize with those whose packs are late, it happens to everyone at some point and it can be really frustrating, but for the most part they come through. And I don't think I've ever just flat out lost a package. Some of it depends where you live too. I still get a little excited anytime I see a mail truck, even if I'm not expecting anything, I guess I've been conditioned.

I'm glad you brought this subject up. My order hasn't left the Post Office it was mailed from last Tuesday. I was wondering why & duh, of course, it's Christmas time & EVERYONE is mailing their presents. It seems really weird this year, you know, no running around in crazy mode trying to buy presents for everyone. Both my wife's & my families decided to skip presents this year. It just feels weird.

I got another package a day late, but it was still here in 5 days, in nearly the middle of December, after the govt. tried to destroy the post office this summer, thousands of miles, right to my doorstep. Just relax, 99.99% of the time it'll get to ya. :)

I usually get orders fast but this month my packages have been tied up in USPS processing facilities for quite a while. Everyone is doing their holiday shopping online this year so massive delays are to be expected. When I look up the tracking, it even says to expect delays.

I've noticed a severe drop off in USPS services since July, not long after that hack, Dejoy took over!

I had one order out of Texas that took 13 days to reach me after USPS took possession of the package. That order sat at the
USPS distribution center for four days and on the sixth or seventh day it showed "out for delivery!" I checked tracking the
next morning and it showed still sitting at the original distribution center! I've had a lot of other orders take 8-11
days before being delivered.

I recently had a package sit in a Colorado distribution center for three days before it finally started moving! My order
was shipped on a Monday and didn't arrive until the following Monday. Another order was scheduled for delivery this
past Thursday and now it's back to "in transit, arriving late!"

All I see is a worsening of delivery service on almost everything we order!

So I mentioned on an earlier comment that my package had sat 4 days in the PO it was mailed from. So they turned off the tracking & stopped scanning, so I didn't get any updates. I checked the status yesterday night & it was in my city, 8 days later. It showed up this morning at 6 am, again no tracking notice. See that's the part that bothers me. Porch theft is big in my town & I live on a busy street. I need to know when to expect packages because if they're on my porch too long, they're gone.

^ I hear ya, that's why I care about tracking too. But, UPS isn't much (if any better) and FedEx has always been way worse - in my experience they rarely even knock, they just leave a note and you havta go fetch it a day or two later several miles down the road. So hopefully the USPS bounces back and by next winter it's all business as usual. Just be glad they were unsuccessful in dismantling the USPS, or you'd be paying UPS/FedEx twice as much for the same service eh. :)

This is what it says at the top of the USPS website

ALERT: USPS IS EXPERIENCING UNPRECEDENTED VOLUME INCREASES AND LIMITED EMPLOYEE AVAILABILITY DUE TO THE IMPACTS OF COVID-19. WE APPRECIATE YOUR PATIENCE AND REMAIN COMMITTED TO DELIVERING THE HOLIDAYS TO YOU.

Hope everyone's stocked up for the month

Hey everyone, just a little update. My friends at the post office are stating they have around 5x their normal holiday volume right now. The other factor I didn't take into consideration is that since people aren't allowed to travel this year, they're mailing all the packages and presents to their relatives instead of bringing them in person! That mixed with coronavirus restrictions are really hurting everything. I was told that not only is there up to a 7-day delay with processing facilities right now, but they are required to have HALF THE STAFF because of coronavirus. This will definitely get better eventually! Below is a picture someone posted on Reddit showing just one small processing facility.

Have a great weekend everyone! Be sure to order Express whenever possible. I know we're working with people as much as we can and I'm sure most other vendors are as well.

I dont mind that things are late, i understand that. I HATE it when the tracking information page doesnt update with any details. I cant wait for income tax so i can buy 2-4 kgs with next day shipping and be done with the post office.

Not to mention the stories of many packages and mail items being thrown away and having lost my one of my previous kratom purchases.

USPS is completely worthless.

You're lucky to even GET your package much less within 2 weeks.

I thought I had seen the bottom of depravity and complete disfunction of the USPS...until now.

This is why UPS/Fed Ex can charge a premium and people pay it.

The USPS is a perfect example of the unmotivated and totally ineptness of the average US Government employee.

You sound like a disgruntled ex-employee. Did they refuse to give you severance pay? Just kidding. I think the USPS does a great job considering the volume they go through. Why would you blame the bottom tier of workers? Blame the higher ups and Dejoy if anything.

These massive delivery issues didn't occur until AFTER that HACK, Dejoy, took over as misleader of the postal service. :x
I've bought a massive amount of leaf over the years, especially the past 2 1/2 years, and I ALWAYS received my
shipments in a timely manner. Since Dejoy took over, almost everything I order runs late! He has no business
being in charge of the postal service and his record from the past six months proves it!

I received a package from Dublin, N. Ireland today that was shipped Dec. 22nd. Remember, that package
had to make it's way through U.S. Customs before being turned over to the Postal Service and I still received it in only SEVEN
DAYS
. I have a package that was shipped Dec. 21st from Colorado Springs! It sat there for four days, then made
it's way to Las Vegas, NV. It sat there for three days and just started moving again today! Just how does that work?

It's also the holiday season, and it's during a pandemic where more people are buying all sorts of different things online, so that's two very relevant factors. Personally, I get my stuff on time 90% of the time. If it's a few days late, it's really not a big deal to me. They've come through so many times when it counted, and occasionally it's even early. And you still got your stuff right? It's not like they lost it. Just thinking of the logistics needed to deliver millions of packages from millions of different places every day is kind of mind blowing, I would think issues would happen a lot more often. I mean just think of how much crap people buy off Amazon, and it all just falls into the lap of USPS like "hey, you guys figure it out." A 4-day average for priority is impressive, and $8 is a very reasonable deal for it. I suppose I'm a little more sympathetic and don't subscribe to the "I need it NOW-ism" that's so prevalent in America today.

I guess if someone doesn't like it and/or isn't patient, they can either pay for express or use a different service. The complaints smack of entitlement, to me.

Obviously you need to look up the word, "entitlement" because it obliviously doesn't mean what you think
it means.

I live in Ohio and my postal delivery for prescriptions and leaf has been ridiculous and has nothing to do with your
straw-argument about "entitlement!" I'm older than dirt and my postal delivery has never been as atrocious as
it has since July! There's nothing "entitled" about expecting timely delivery!

Yes, YOU are sorry. That's something we agree on. We pay for timely postal delivery and that's what we should get.
You're the one that began casting aspersion, not I! Dejoy dismantled over 700 high speed sorting machines or most
of this wouldn't be happening. A FEDERAL JUDGE even called him out on it!

Nice ad hominem, and I like the all caps and generous exclamation marks, really drives home your point...by the way, I agree that Dejoy is fucking up and that service could be better. But there are things out of their control right now. This is an unprecedented situation. I would continue this more but you seem to be more interested in throwing around insults than in real discussion, that's not going to get you anywhere in life. Don't take all your anger out on the mail, or me for that matter, that's silly. Things will get better for you.

Nice diversion. You're the one that began this with an "ad hominem" attack with your silly "entitlement" comment!
Things were in their control before Dejoy, and within a month after being installed as Post Master this entire
charade began. I can do this all day long, so have at it. The only reason you don't wish to continue is because
I'm on the high ground and you have no valid argument. YOU are the individual that began the insults. Obliviously
you're too unaware to understand the truth of it. Get "angry?" Take a look in the mirror and you'll see
anger! :)
