If Kratom Makes You Sweat, Read This Post

I'm a person whom kratom causes to sweat profusely. It's an understatement to say I hate it. My doctor tried a variety of medications he said were guaranteed to work & they didn't. So I went off on my own into the reaches of Google Scholar to do my own research for the last couple years. Whichever of you posted about Palmitoyalethanolomide unwittingly gave me the solution. Thank you. No, it wasn't that drug, but when I read the research behind that drug, it gave me the answer.

Excess sweating from drugs is caused by an immune system gone astray. Part of an immune response involves something called mast cells. But mast cells sometimes respond to drugs inside our bodies, and their reaction causes excessive sweating. So I've been researching every drug that down regulates mast cells. I found 2 that only affect mast cells, Palmitoylethanolamide and Zyrtek. Zyrtek stops my sweating. I have the other one on order, so I don't know if it works or not, but Zyrtek works great! I could feel my skin trying as hard as possible to sweat, but it just couldn't do it. So if you're tormented by sweating like I was, go to the pharmacy & try this non-drowsy antihistamine.

That's kind of interesting. I got some dollar store Cetirizine for allergies, I didn't notice less sweating, but I don't really sweat unless it's hot or I'm hiking uphill or something ha-ha. I'll havta take one and go stand in the sun this summer and see what happens.

It won't stop normal sweating, only drug-induced sweating, specifically by mu-receptor agonists. What you're talking about is really dangerous, as sweating from exertion is how your body prevents heat stroke.

Does it make you sweat all the time or only at night? I have been having night sweats but that could also be because I am pre-menopausal. I don't sweat during the day from ktea though.

Thank you for doing the research and for explaining why I sweat so bad. I know I have an abnormal immune system response so this really makes sense. Sometimes when I use kratom, I swear all I have to do is stand up from sitting and sweat just pours from my forehead. Its really is uncomfortable and embarrassing, especially at work. I am gonna get some Zyrtek today and try it out. I'll let you know how it goes.

On a different kratom forum(don't tell anyone I do that) a lady in menopause told me that it completely stopped her hormone sweats & it made her very very happy.

I worked this out with my doctor. Some people have something called Histamine Intolerance Disorder. They're typically people who struggle with allergies, heartburn, asthma, &/or intestinal problems. Their body develops intolerance to the excess histamine load their body carries & they develop all kinds of symptoms. Severe sweating without any discernable cause is one of them. Certain foods can make it worse. Anything that's an agonist of the mu/opioid receptors can also cause it. That's why Zyrtec works. It's an antihistamine that calms down our bodies' mast cells(part of our immune response). Guess what mast cells are filled with? You guessed it - histamine.

I sweat excessively for no reason, maybe it is Kratom, or one of my other meds. I walk to the grocery, and when I come back, my clothing is soaked, regardless of season.

I do have allergies though, so I tested the theory. I took my usual dose for 'when WhiteAngelica tries to do something with her legs' and took the Zyrtec. It didn't stop sweating completely, but I was so comfortable! It was like, feeling like a normal person again.

Worked beautifully and helped the allergies, but unfortunately it did make me sleepy. Thanks for this tip, though. And I don't think I endangered myself very much, because I continued to sweat all night long and woke up shivering, with the cold imprint of my entire body full of sweat saturating the sheets.
