some advice on mystic island strains

first off hello all!! new forum member here.

looking to order of a few strains from mystic maybe 4-8 different ones to start with. so im a long term perc user sadly i was in a massive car crash and my back is jacked up now wasnt even my fault. so been on opioids for maybe 6+ years and its time to get off them. i have been using some red bali and red maeng from a local shop and it works fairly well especially for withdrawal. i also suffer from cluster migraines more times then i would like.

what would you guys suggest from mystic (ill look into other vendors also but mystic has a great price and some in stock again were short for a while it looked like). they currently have the red bali and maeng which ill grab just because ive been using both but what about borneo, thai (ive read is similar to bali?), kupuas, or sumatra reds? im gonna also grab some vampire and big red since those are very well spoken of.

any info or advice would be great my main priority is pain then second the "lift" the percs had for me during the day because being off them im really kind of dragging during the day. for me the opioids had the opposite effect many say they got me going and up and about (could have had to do with the pain relief also partly.

Phatcracker is a great one too start with, many people love that strain.

Vampire is a very good redish strain and one of my favorites as well.

The next time I order I'm gonna grab myself some Kama Sumatra and maybe a little White MD.

how is the effect of phatcracker? compared to something like bali?

any info on how the original single reds are?
based on what they currently have in stock im also looking at the:

From what I've heard and read, bentangs are the most like opioids. I know one person that swears by them. Have yet to try myself yet, but I have some of the Royal bent ordered from rva on its way. I'll let you know how it goes. I can speak to the effecacy of Sumatra, at least from my local smoke shop. Very nice. It was choice botanical I believe, overpriced, but did the job. Might want to consider mixing some green, white, or yellow in, esp the bentang, as I hear they can be sedating. I know I found the Sumatra to be so. The most potent reds from mystic that I've tried were vampire red maeng da red hulu and the big red one is pretty good. Bentaungies is also a decent red. Phatcracker is amazing for mixing with reds to make them much stronger.

thank you both ill add the hulu in this order. a few recc borneo but im hearing very mixed things. most say its a very slow long lasting effect. would love any other opinions also. ill get some bent from another recc seller since mystic doesnt seem to have it? from general opinion is the vampire or big red the better strain? or do they differ enough to warrant buying both?

The slow, euphoric greens affect me most like opioids. Green Malay from Mystic is a good one but they're out of stock. I also like Doppleganger, Green Vietnam and Green Maeng Da.

If you want to try Botanical Bunny, Verde is a good one, also Wild Green.

i tried a green maeng a friend had today and it was okay. not bad but not like the red one i was buying (i found out was from socal where he got the red md from). it could very well be where the green came from though i think he got it from Thailand directly somewhere he had to wait for it through usps from Malaysia. im thinking about 2 4 way split kilos (8 strains) which is why i was looking at mystic but ill check out bunny also. i was on perc 10/325 2-4 times a day previously which was a taper down from 20mg's. i went to a half of the 10's per dose and now i stopped them totally as long as i have the kratom ive been using for now i have zero withdrawal so far which is awesome. i do plan to try the vietnam strains when back in stock i hear very good things about them

I absolutely love the Royal Bent from RVA. One of the best analgesic and relaxing strains for me (chronic back pain), I know others feel that way as well. Hope it works for you.

Really like their white Bali, someone also mentioned botanical bunny.... If you're looking for a good red their red md Jong Kong is my personal favorite. Haven't tried just plain red Jong Kong from them though, not sure if they have both still or not.

Edit: just saw someone mentioned bents....just got some green bent from BB today. First time I've had a bent and I think it's pretty terrific. Great mood boost, back pain is gone too

Welcome mastershake. Just getting into online vendors ? goal should be Sample a big variety from different places. Yeah U always hear about 3-5 around here 'cuz they are a few bucks cheaper.. That's fine but also try to find the BEST kratom, that works for U and often it's not the cheapest

I've had back pain, and used perc's and norco's since, wow, a long time & I'm an old man now. Just did a Norco 10 the other day lol Always tried to avoid a serious habit. If you've blown out your mu opioid receptors, might need a high dose/ high quality kratom, to really feel it much .. kratom has a ceiling effect so can't just take more & more of average kratom it don't work like that haha..

The Vendor List is a Top 40, with a 50% range on price.. from .12 price per gram.. to around .18 ppg. Imho would forget the funny blends & get all original strains. Then buy the same "strain" from another vendor & compare... Inland Botanicals is a small, high quality vendor ( Review coming soon! ) with a strong Red Maeng Da. That is a popular choice for pain along with Red Bali - you find those at many vendors. Good luck!

Phatcracker is A LOT faster than most Balis. It will definitely get you going in the morning, but it still has pretty good pain relief for a fast strain. To me Mystic’s best bali is their White Bali. It is a slow, euphoric white. Their Red Bali is pretty good, it just knocks me out a little quicker than I like.

I also give Mystic's white bali a thumbs up. I find it energetic, but not too fast. Gives me a good mental clarity and concentration.

My favorite for a mood lifting euphoric feeling, so far, is Kama Sutra from Mystic. It's great on it's own, but I also like to mix this with a gram or two of Red Bent from BB which kicks it up a notch for me as far as that good mood feeling but can also make me a bit sleepy sometimes. Often that is just what I want. This chica loves her euphoric afternoon naps!


I know exactly what you mean about opioids giving you get up and go. Although it's been a long time since I've taken any regularly, the depressive feeling of not wanting to do much or getting much pleasure out of anything after you've stopped taking them can be awful and last for a long time. I think - *I hope* kratom helps you out with this.

got my first 4 bags in today and started off with vampire, 2.5grams. def feel it not sure about it yet. def has some pain relief but not as much as the straight bali i had before this. this "feels" better overall though. got red bali, red md, vampire, and phatcracker so far and i have 8 others coming. awesome shipping time and got here a okay. great service and they answered my questions before hand also.

so i went with the straight red bali tonight and it was well meh. maybe i needed a bigger dose hmm? i started with 4 grams total and washed it down. not bad but not as good as the previous bali i had which was from socal. then i added some of the red md in (about an extra 1.5gram or so) a bit less then an hour later and man not sure what it did with the bali but it was very nice. this combo was excellent for pain imo. ill try the red md by itself next to see if its was the red md or it being added to the bali. if its the bali / md mix i may order a kilo of each and mix them lol. and im going to try a phatcracker / red md mix tomm also.

i found the vampire decent but no where near as good as the bali / md tonight. was a great daytime for me though didnt make me in the least bit tired. actually got me outside to mow the lawn and we have about three acres lol. was okay for pain it did help my back out but not as much as i hoped.

i have red borneo here also, and ordered red Vietnam, red thai, mermaid and red hulu also. ive read the sumatra is a bit on the weaker side for reds so i skipped that one this time.

anyone have feedback on the vietnam and thai? im curious while im waiting for them.

It's funny how different strains effect people differently. For me, reds have the opposite of an energizing effect; even a small dose leaves me too tired and depressed to notice or even care about any pain relief. Some whites and some yellows do this, too! (*Ahem* looking at you, white horn/ borneo.)

So, while I can't offer any advice regarding reds, I can recommend some whites, greens, and blends from Mystic Island in case you ever want to give those a try. While they aren't as good at managing pain, they do offer some relief while also boosting energy and overall mood, at least for me. So, without further ado:

Whites (in order of preference): Dragon (MI blend), white maeng da, white Bali, white malay

Greens (no real order, I like em all): green Vietnam, green Bali, green maeng da, green Malay, and MI blend Super Green

MI blends of whites & greens and/or yellows: Doppleganger (sp?), Unicorn, and, later in the day, Yellow Topaz

The strains/blends I reach for most often are Dragon, green Vietnam, Doppleganger, and green Malay.

I'd ordered a sample of Green Bali just before Indonesia stopped shipping out Kratom and I loved it, but I haven't been able to order more yet to further my personal eval. Still, I put it on this list anyway. I'm hoping it'll be back in stock soon so that I can, erm, verify my recommendation.


Again, every person is different, but I hope that this helps you find what works best for you.

they were out of greens so i grabbed a few whites to try out.

i can say for sure though the red bali for me at least is much better then the red maeng da from mystic. after a few trials. i thought the opposite at first till i adjusted doses. i have to use much more of the red md to get effects, tomm ill try out borneo.

I just ordered the big red one, vampire and red sumatra. I received a sample of the phatcratcker about two weeks ago and it didn't hit for me. The green Bali I got was amazing. It got me going through the entire work day without an afternoon dose. I was hoping to pick up a half kg but all the greens are gone.
I'm trying Johnson's botanicals greens out. Hopefully that and the mystic order arrived soon

Johnsons or kog is my next try I think.
Some of the mystic blends didn't work well for me at first, but now are my go to strains. Usually their reds. I don't think I liked phatcracker at first but it's now my favorite. I feel like the first few days of trying a new vendor are a little off, like my body needs time to adjust to the new alkaloids profile. I try a new strain out for a week, or at least a few tries, before making a judgement on it.
