Why do you use Kratom?

Hi there! I was just curious as to the reasons why everybody uses kratom. Myself, I use it for a multitude of reasons. I first began using it to cope with withdrawal symptoms from tianeptine. After I had made it through that, I began to see many of the medicinal qualities of this plant, both physiological and psychological. I noticed that many of my aches and pains were suddenly gone. Then I attempted to self medicate during both migraine and gout attacks. I was amazed at how effective it was in treating the discomfort from these conditions.

I also began to notice a very subtle yet pronounced antidepressant effect. I was calmer and more collected, allowing me to handle and manage my stress in a much better manner. It seems like everyday I reap more and more benefits from this miraculous herb. It has assisted with my health and well-being much more than any modern Western medicine has. Would anyone care to share their experiences and reasons for using? I would love to hear. Thanks and I hope you all have a great day.

Primarily to deal with chronic arthritis pain.

Edit: Initially I posted this from my phone. Now I can add to it. In addition to arthritis, I have also been able to stop taking Adderall for ADHD, Tramadol for pain and Fioricet for migraines. I did all this in coordination with the prescribing physician who is aware of my kratom usage.

I use it for a few reasons myself. Initially it was to help me quit drinking. Then it was to help with anxiety/depression and to keep me from going crazy after a pretty terrible time in my life. Now it's all that plus keeping me motivated at work. So very glad I found this plant, it has been a life changer.

I use it mainly for chronic pain. I was on prescription painkillers until I discovered kratom.

I also use it to relax, relieve anxiety, and help me sleep. I used to drink a lot just to numb the pain and sleep.

Since I’ve started using kratom, I only drink in moderation 2-3 times per month. And I no longer take any prescription meds.

I use it for chronic back pain. I have been taking Tramadol for 10+ years, and it was working fine - never increased my initial dose. Within the past year I had a flare up, and that amount of Tramadol was not working, anymore. I refuse to increase my dose. With the help of Kratom, I was able to substantially reduce my amount of Tramadol (not a huge amount, either). I still use a small amount of Trams, in the morning, then I drink my Kratom tea, late afternoon, evening. Even though I've been using Kratom for a little over a year, I still feel l am in the experimental stages, and have a lot to learn. I think if you respect this plant, it is very beneficial.

Started out using for recreational purposes but morphed into easing my depression and anxiety. Got me to cut out drinking almost entirely besides the occasional once or twice a month social drinking.

I use it as a migraine preventive, an antihistamine to control my allergies, and to help with the pain in my back I get from working 12 hour shifts.

Its really amazing how one little plant can do all of this. Thanks for sharing your experiences everyone. We may not know eachother in real life, but we are all connected by this panacea called Kratom, and in that sense; we are all family.

I started using kratom for recreational purposes because it felt really good on top of alcohol but that combo was not sustainable and because of health reasons I quit the alcohol which brought out some underlying issues like depression and anxiety.

I lived with this for a few months after getting sober and then I randomly found an old bag with about 50 grams of green Vietnam that I had forgotten about. I had pretty much forgotten about kratom all together. I decided to give it a try because I genuinely enjoyed it before and what could it hurt.

Well, that was the best decision I could have made. Depression - 90% gone. Anxiety - 80% gone. And to top it off, the alcohol cravings are basically non-existant. Win, win, win if you ask me.

Kratom has allowed me to live a healthier, more fulfilling life that I didn't even know was possible. I'm forever grateful to this plant and this community.

Atypical depression mainly. I have periods in my life where I don't get a lot of pleasure from activities I know I enjoy which in turn leaves me unmotivated. I take kratom twice a week as a boost to help keep me going. I am wary of getting dependent on kratom so 2 days is perfectly fine for me. Obviously on those 2 days it helps, but I find that the anticipation for my next dose helps give me a boost on my off days. So far I haven't really broken from this schedule and its been great.

For depression.

I have been on Celexa and Wellbutrin for ten years. They have fixed my not being able to get out of bed level of exhaustion, but I don't enjoy life at all. Like at all.

The first time I had some kratom (back in December) I felt like I had a warm blanket around me.

My enjoyment of things has returned and I fell very content with life for the first time in a long, long time. My tolerance is increasing but I am going to address that shortly. The quitting sub on reddit is a stark reminder that I need to keep things in check.


My wife has even noticed my mood change, and said basically "whatever you are doing keep doing it"

I hope I can use this wonderful plant for many years to come. Its just the perfect supplement for me.

Nice indeed. I have similar hard rules i follow, though not as hard as yours
I only burn three consecutive days, then one day off, burn two days again, day off. I also supply agmatine.
Couldn´t imagine being able limit myself to two days a week only, thats for sure

I started using kratom for depression, experienced some traumatic shit and couldn´t cope anymore so got myself on
antidepressives (SSRIs), which helped initially (i didn´t killed myself), but it will only keep me at flat line mood-wise,
emotionally dead kinda. Kratom was a life changer to me, i am able to feel joy and similar basic human feelings.
I am very happy to discover this beautiful plant
