Hands down smoothest, cleanest, clearest best tasting tea that I have ever made! Honestly for what it’s worth aero press is a must try to truly understand why it’s the go to way for so many and I honestly want to be on that party bus ride but I’m not sure what’s missing for me but that’s what I now need to figure out…. I did increase my t&w dose but just seemed to not fully get there. I made clp today using different strains as well as adjusting tad bit by +/- doses and water with this round of testing being frozen first to defrost in morning prior to aero press….fingers crossed 🤞 …. If only was that easy!! ;)

thanks so much for the detailed instructions! def going to bookmark this; I’ve heard good success with teas in the past but it always takes quite a bit of time so this really seems like a nice compromise.

also solidarity to you re: insomnia! been using kratom to help deal with my sleep problems for some time now and it’s been incredibly helpful.

it looks like the o2 combo filters are sold out or discontinued in the US. I was about to find o1 + o2 combo filters, do you think this would be comparable or should I try to find a different brand of filter with similar specs?

I would also highly recommend trying a french press if you like this method for larger batches. I took a two-week break after getting sick and switched to tea myself. I brew mine at 175 with yerba mate and do a couple of washes until the mate is spent. On the last wash, I'll use boiling water to ensure I got a good extraction. I believe my french press is 1 liter so it might be more convenient than doing a bunch of apresses (unless you like the ritual :)). Happy brewing!

The combo package you mentioned is available - looks like it has two o2 (30-micron) and one o1 (100-micron) filters. From what I can tell, only the o1 filters are available separately on Amazon. You can get the o2 filters alone direct from their website.

I wonder... can the Ameuus filters be used with the Prismo attachment?

Thanks for the lesson Ace. I’ve had an aero press for awhile with the intent on using it for tea. Tea is sounding more and more appealing these days!

Hey so I wanted to point out something about the Aero Press that is the main reason I won't ever use it. Please note that this isn't for advertising purposes, but we literally created Blate Papes edible films to help others avoid the dangers in everyday products and supplements. Yes Blate Papes are for taking powders like kratom, but this was originally because I personally had terrible problems with artificial sweeteners in products for years and had no idea what was causing them. That is what started us on this path.

With that said, the AeroPress is made with polypropylene plastic. All plastics, regardless of their ratings, release toxins into their contents when in contact with heat. So for coffee and tea, we will only ever use stainless steel or glass French presses as these do not come with the dangers of plastic usage with hot materials. And this doesn't just mean BPA, there are many more phytoestrogens, phthalates, dioxins, etc that seep into foods from plastic. This stuff is a serious endocrine system disruptor and is said to harm our reproductive ability very badly. I know Joe Rogan had a great podcast on this a few months ago for anyone interested in the most current research. It is scary as sh*t honestly. Just a quick thought to everyone considering it!

The comment above is misinformation from someone with a vested interest in discouraging people from using the safest method of taking kratom - making tea:
All plastics, regardless of their ratings, release toxins into their contents when in contact with heat.
NOT TRUE. The estrogenic and possibly carcinogenic effects are linked to specific compounds, used to cross-link specific plastics. Food-grade polypropylene has never been shown to contain any of these compounds, and given the production process, there is no reason why it would. I will note that Joe Rogan, last I looked, is not a biochemist. (Neither am I, though I was once, very long ago, an analytical chemist. Not claiming my opinion on this is anything special - but neither is Rogan's.)

However, for those who wish to avoid any contact with plastic, there is a simple option. Filter your tea through paper coffee filters. I've done this for years, it works fine.

Making filtered tea is about more than avoiding the unpleasantries of toss 'n wash. You are doing two additional things: heating the kratom to kill at least some of the possible microorganisms in it, and avoiding the effects of inert, indigestible plant matter on your digestive system. Covering powder with paper, capsules, etc. before swallowing does neither of these.

The AeroPress designer also changed the material the AeroPress is made from specifically to address the concerns of plastic leeching, at one point - so that should assuage any fears.

I've tried filtering through normal brown paper coffee filters and it didn't work for me due to nano grind turning muddy and plugging up the bottom. I imagine the pressure in a press would counteract that if anyone has similar issues.

I've had that happen with certain filters and with larger batches of tea. I now use Melitta-style conical filters, don't try to run more than 4 grams of kratom through a single filter, and allow 10 minutes or so for the tea to drip through, once poured into the filter. That seems to manage the problem.

Of course, using crushed leaf avoids the problem entirely, but it's hard to find good crushed leaf these days. I got lucky and won a TFH membership in their last lottery, I need to check out their CL. [Edit: just looked, seems the TFH crushed leaf is sold out. Damn.]

Hi everyone!

I gave this a shot today. My typical dose is 1.5-2.5g. I decided I wanted to make two servings so my girlfriend could have some. I didn't have any acid powder, so I substituted lemon juice. I don't remember how much I used, but just enough to turn the Kratom into a dark paste. After letting it extract and putting it into the Aeropress, I ran into some issues while attempting to plunge it. It was just too dense (?) at the bottom and wouldn't allow enough liquid through. I eventually got it through after pressing pretty hard and some came out shooting sludge into my tea. Finished plunging, and dumped the Kratom. I then filtered it again to get more sludge out of the tea.

After that I put some sugar in it and took a drink and HOLY SHIT did that lemon juice make it, well, lemoney. Anyway, I diluted it with more water, poured some milk in, and used a few teaspoons of cane sugar. It didn't taste too bad, definitely want to use make it without the lemon juice next time.

The main reason I'm here is to ask what are you guys using for filters?

I use the regular aero press filters for nano and most micro powder. I use the prizmo filter for coarse and crushed leaf.

I don't understand the "paste" thing, which is advocated here & there online... I've seen it on Facebook and other forums. For Red Bubble tea, there's no need for "paste", you want enough hot water (Just below boiling 195º) to 1- Sanitize and 2- Extract. Yes. Heat extracts alkaloids.

For Aeropress, it's a different recipe - I cook or simmer, my "Kratom Tea" for at least 30 minutes. - Aeropress holds about 8 ounces of liquid. That's really the main factor... I see on Reddit r/aeropress people have asked about a Family Size unit. Why don't they make a larger Aeropress? - supposedly the Inventor (holds Patent) has a thing about "one good cup of coffee", and the company is sticking to that. Weird.

So 8 ounces. I use a Espresso Carafe - borosilicate glass. Measure my Kratom (10 grams), some acid powder (Crystal Light is mostly citric acid by weight!), and optional Tsp of regular Tea leaves. I like various chinese Black Tea, and or Herbal Tea - adding this helps if you're doing ALL powder you want some fiber in to help Aeropress plunger! Anyway - I fill up my Carafe to just OVER 8 ounces. Simmer that 30+ minutes like a "Double Boiler" in a pot. Stir a few times.

The Carafe double boiler - makes it EASY and pre-measured !! Grab your hot Carafe - have your Aeropress ready w/ filter (Inverted Mode), (Standard paper filter, OR you can buy unbleached paper filters off Ebay).. POUR carafe into the Aeropress and it will Exactly fill the Aeropress right up to the Line! - BOOM! Screw on the Filter thing, INVERT - and plunge... just a little more effort than coffee, but not much, since you've got either a Crushed Leaf mix, OR kratom powder w/ some Tea leaves added. - Yield exactly 8 ounces of Tea Concentrate! Since I started w/ 10 grams kratom, it's pretty strong I get four servings.

Hi Ballz, thank you for your detailed reply. The reason I turned it into a paste was by my own thought process and not anything I had seen online. I didn't have any citric acid like OP mentioned and used lemon juice in place. Had NO idea how much to use, so I was trying to use just enough to make sure all the Kratom came into contact with the juice. I'm going to buy citric acid from here on out though and maybe some new filters.

I need to go reread your post to figure out how you're getting around the plunging issue that I had. I'll try and recreate your tea recipe. How does it taste? Any chunks/sludge?

This IS a definite issue w/ using Aeropress when used with 100% kratom powder... Even worse with micro grind "nano" powder which has unfortunately become standard, as Indo suppliers in Ponti got fancy new grinding machines (Thanks to USA Big Kratom vendors who financed new equipment!) .. For Aeropress, the older "coarse grind" powder, is better.

So... for Aeropress Tea (or any type Filtered Tea,) you really need some Crushed Leaf kratom - it's thought that Crushed is stronger by weight, also, (All natural & hasn't been exposed to high heat in grinding machines.). For Aeropress Tea, I mix half N half, Crushed and powder. // Yes. Using the current "nano" style Kratom, which has become the majority of powder kratom... Aeropress inverted plunger would be hard using 100% nano. Brew Tea with a blend of 50% Crushed Leaf!

This is really interesting and I want to try it! Maple sugar sounds delicious. I have lots of powder and some crushed leaf (not a lot) but note advice above to use both if possible. Never had an aero-press and just bought a borosilicate glass teapot with infuser I don't even know how to use correctly, didn't come with instructions but just put tea in the infuser and pour hot water through it but tonight it seemed jammed making yerba mate so poured the water through the lip. Inspired by OP's success and others to continue experimenting on this journey. The thing with crushed leaf is it's harder to find and I've used a lot more of it and go through it much faster than the powder but it's usually comparable in price.

Well, today I got an Aeropress with a 20% off coupon at BB&B then went next door to Whole Foods looking for maple sugar and citric acid. They didn't have either but I got brown coconut sugar (which is grown in Indonesia) and also magnesium citrate capsules. Considered getting ascorbic acid powder (vitamin C) instead of citric acid and was googling everything and I think it's not as strong and more expensive but it would work. I do have lemon juice and ACV but thinking maybe citric acid works better and adds less flavor? I had k-tea today made with crushed leaf simmered in a pot with ACV. Not sure how strong it is but seemed ok with no powder at all today but I also added one capsule of 50:1 extract to the tea this AM. I recently bought a teapot with an infuser I was going to try for k-tea and have been using it for yerba mate and I think the Aeropress will be better for k-tea. I feel like my dose wore off by evening so just had the rest of the k-tea mixed with mango juice. Next I will be trying to follow instructions on page 1!

1. Start by measuring out your dosage for however many individual cups of tea you want to make....I usually make 2 or 3 separate cups at a time. Through my trial and error while converting to tea I discovered that most powdered leaf requires a higher dosage in order to make same strength tea as whatever your other method of prep was. For me personally, I've found that somewhere between 115 to 140% of a t&w or mix and chug/slurry type dosage usually is; so for example if your t&w dosage is 5g than use 5.75g to 7g to make tea. Though, we are all different so may need to tweak the amounts. Now you can dump determined amount into a cup safe for hot beverages that holds at least 14oz. of water.
2. Add your acid of choice whether citrus juice, Apple Cider Vinegar, or whatever you prefer. I use about .5g of powdered citric acid as seen above.
3. Now pour .75 to 1oz. of 170 to 185 degree water into each cup per gram of Kratom being used, stir, and cover for 30 minutes minimum. So if using 5g powder then use 3.75 to 5oz water.
Hello, trying this for the first time with my new Aeropress and have a question. #1 says to use a cup that holds "at least 14oz. of water", and then #3 says pour water "into each cup". Are you combining your 2-3 cup measurements into one cup? I'm using a little over 4 grams per cup (for two cups) and started with two separate large cups but it seemed excessive considering it's only 4 oz. of water per cup (only a little more than 8 oz. of water for two cups), which doesn't seem like enough water for two cups of tea! I combined it all (approx. 8g) into one large cup, added some ascorbic acid and a little over 8 oz. of water. Now it's covered and waiting for the next step to pour into the press. Just wondering if you combined everything into one cup and why the liquid is such a small amount per gram, it seems one cup of tea is more like a shot! Thank you.

Update: I ran it through the press and minus a couple mistakes and using multiple paper filters got a nice light amber cup of tea. Seems like a lot of powder for a small amount of liquid and I think I used too much liquid because my stovetop tea is a much richer color, so less water next time but seems like a lot of powder for a little tea. This is my first time using powder also, I used crushed leaf and simmered it on the stove before. Since I had pretty much my daily doses for today I think I should try and make a little stronger brew and save it for the AM, at least it will be ready and waiting!

Hi Hallie! I wanna Reply since at this moment I'm brewing some Aeropress Tea!

Not sure what's up with Acejestyr ? hasn't been here for 9 months... Anyway it seems, to me, the bottom line for Aeropress is "8 ounces" since, that's # total amount of liquid it holds in Inverted Mode. Right? So I'm using that carafe thing which is around 8 oz. and I simmer that inside a larger pan. IF you're just simmering your Tea in a small pan, make sure there's only 8 ounces... the tricky part, is pouring that into your inverted Aeropress, without spilling or making a mess! :P

Looking back on what Ace wrote, the liquid/ kratom/ measure is about right I think? He says (.75 to 1 ounce water per gram of Kratom.) but again... Aeropress limit is 8 ounces liquid - leaving room for the wet leaves and sludge you're pressing. So I keep it simple, measure right @ 8 ounces, and I usually do about 10 grams (combo powder and crushed, and a little Green Tea leaf.) - after the simmer, I dump that carafe boom into my inverted Aeropress and I've gotten pretty good at measuring. Had a couple goofs where I over filled it, and made a mess lol :geek:

Using a small pan... Pre measure your water @ only 8 oz. (could go 10 oz. then cook off and reduce down to 8!) - 8-)

Slight tangent but, can I ask how often you take Kratom? I currently go once or twice at 4g, every day, for the past few weeks(home made capsules and very rarely T+W), and I'm wondering just how much more efficient tea is. It seems like one could double the potency per gram and for me this would mean 2g per serving rather than 4g. That's why I ask what your tolerance/usage strategy is like, where 2.5g output into tea gets you a good burn, because if I were to take 2.5 my way, I don't think I'd get much. For me on a full stomach even 4+g may end up having no effect(tonight was one such night, and this was with my most potent strain, only 2.5 hours prior to a big meal).

I ask all of this after having tried two attempts at red bubble tea and 1 attempt at just like... making Kratom sort of like matcha(80c water, whisk tea for a while, drink, no lemon). In all cases I used my normal dose and the tea didn't really seem to give me strong effects. Anything that explains this? Shouldn't heat alone have extracted more alkaloids than a simple TnW?

Thanks Ballz. I'm still confused though but I guess you're saying 1 oz water per gram is correct. Wonder how that converts to potency, how many grams would one oz of tea equal? Also not sure what you mean by inverted. I put the Aeropress on top of the cup, add the liquid (can add more than 8 oz but the directions say fill to 1 but they add additional numbers), then press. It's cool the way the air presses the liquid through the strainer. I used powder only and did it the way OP instructed, the only thing I did on the stove was heat up the water in a kettle. I had some of the tea this morning, could not get it sweet despite a ton of maple syrup and some raw honey (too much acid maybe), and didn't drink all of it since not sure how strong it is and not feeling well to begin with, digestive issues really acting up. 😞 Made my mouth feel very dry but overall I think the tea may help with those digestive issues and the Aeropress is a good way to see if powder that didn't work well in oblates will work better this way (have a lot of that!). Interesting idea to combine crushed leaf with powder. I'm getting low on crushed leaf and the tea it made on the stove seems stronger but maybe because it's cloudier, less clear looking. Taste is very similar though. So I guess just toss all that leftover powder out since a lot of the alkaloids are now extracted, I thought maybe ingesting it would actually give better results since it's been soaked in the acid but not sure I should try that! 😣

So, you T&W 1.5 grams powder, then drink 1 serving of tea that equals 2 oz.? I brewed one cup from 10grams and about 9oz. and drank the whole thing today along with a 2.25g oblate. Was enough for most of the day but 1/4 of 8oz. sounds like I said before, just a shot.

Thank you so much for this writeup. I don't see it as preaching at all, I think by the sound of it, I'm very much like you. I naturally love nerding out and getting suuuuper deep into anything I get into. For instance, with Kratom-- a friend mentioned his kratom usage off the cuff a few times. I got intrigued. Asked him to split an online purchase. We researched vendors, I shipped him his half of a 500g split, and that was my first ever real try of Kratom apart from some bunk powder I sampled around 20 years ago. This was only 2-3 weeks ago. So I'm brand new and already neck deep in different vendors and sampling and whatnot, that's just how I do anything I get into, so I really want to min-max my usage for the long haul. That's why I appreciate all this information, deeply education and inspiring. Guess I'll just keep brewing tea, but I'm still failing. I tried two very simple teas today, both strains I know I have good results with. Did two 2.5g teas in a tablespoon of lemon, and froze. I drank both in a 2 hour window, and no real strong effects :/ I suppose I've yet to try large amounts of powder then strained, so that's the next experiment. Until then I really don't have issues just taking homemade gel caps or even T+W'ing I'm fine with.

Oh boy I could not get the Aeropress to work with the simmered powder and leaf combo. I'm sure I should've strained the leaf out first and thought it was broken and I'd have to return it. The tea just wouldn't come out clean looking but it did turn out effective. I tried it again last night powder only and it came out very clean, nice amber color, no green. The Aeropress is tricky and the night it wouldn't work I could not get the press to go down putting all my weight on it, then it would slip and spill out some liquid. What a mess and I kept restraining it over and over. Last night I was able to get it to stay straight and go down but it sure is not easy for me to get it going down slowly and then not over press. Tonite I'm using just powder again but a larger batch starting with 15.5g of a blend. I'm finding the effects of kratom are greatly improved for me having my usual oblate powder in the morning and adding some steeped tea at some point in the day after that. The combination of taking some powder and drinking some tea works better for me than either method alone.

I also have had problems pushing it thru the aeropress lucky for me there's always some one around to push it for me lol but still I make two or three serving s ahead of time I've not tried it with crushed leaf its easier for me to just make a gallon using the simmer method with or without teabags I've found 80 g crushed leaf makes a nice strong gallon on tea.I ve also found that mixing up the way I take my tea keeps everything working well.I do love the tea pucks left with the aeropress something about being able to extract the alkaloids and leave the powder just feels good. When I make a gallon of tea I may or may not just leave the leaf or bag in the gallon and filter out with my brew buddy it does seem stronger when I leave it and a gallon last me a good week.

Yes, that Aeropress is tough! I use both hands and move it close to the edge of the counter in case it slips so I won't bang my elbows. I really like crushed leaf simmered on the stove and then strained but I didn't like the effects of taking it alone. I cannot use the leaf in the Aeropress, it just wouldn't work right and almost broke it. The next time I used just powder in the Aeropress. I soaked about 16.5 grams of powder (Denette Green Upstream) with ACV, lemon juice and ascorbic acid in 16 oz. water and It came out a nice light amber color and clear looking, not muddy at all. I made the mistake of thinking that meant it was not very strong and ended up giving myself the wobbles yesterday! I had taken a couple of oblates I had stored from over a year ago (Otie's House Mix). I took one in the morning and was feeling really good (I always feel very bad when I wake up) so a little while later I took the other one, and was still feeling pretty good. I had to work from home on the computer and while I was working (since I was feeling fine, why, because I always think more is better), decided to drink some of the tea that I thought was weak looking. I drank about 8 oz. of it quickly like a cold drink (inbetween bites of barbecue potato chips because I hate the taste). Within minutes I was dizzy and shaking! I decided to lie down and of course my boss called at that time and wanted me to do a couple things. It took a while for the wobbles to pass and I learned the lesson to be careful and go slower when drinking the tea if I've already had some powder (and maybe even if not), and sometimes feeling OK is enough! I was having a problem lately feeling noticeable good effects, and there are so many factors to consider!

Yes! Just to UPDATE this Post - I use around 10, to maybe 12 grams... combo Crushed and Powder (about 1: 2 ratio) also add a gram of loose Green Tea mix (Amazon LINK: Elevate brand Green Tea ) adds a little smooth caffeine. THEN... I simmer this in around 10 oz water, for 1 Hour. You can use a Carafe double boiler setup, (see Photo above!) OR, simply use a small pan... make sure to measure around 1 and a Half cups water... Simmer just below boiling... 1 Hour you'll have JUST enough to pour the entire pan into your Aeropress... Important: Use Regular Aeropress, Do Not use "Inverted" method as I posted before.

I use Inverted to make regular Coffee. For Kratom the simmering is already done! Just pour everything IN, and insert the plunger... :geek: Yes you'll trap an air bubble in there, which seems "hard" to press... for around half a minute. Once the air is pressed out, it goes pretty smooth. Wonderful Kratom Tea concentrate!

I simmered powder in water for an hour and then filtered in through a cloth coffee sock and then sqeazed out the coffee sack. Is an Aeropress really superior? What's the difference? I once bought an A. once for coffee and didn't see any difference from the old fashioned way. Am I missing something?

This is what a coffee sock is if u don't know:

Hey y'all,

So today i received my Aeropress and i would like to understand the Process a bit better and maybe get some advices from those of you that are more experienced with the machine.

When putting the powder into the aeropress and afterwards filling it up with almost boiling/hot water (80-90°C), do you let it sit for some time so that maybe alkaloids get already released in the water before pushing it down?
If so, How long do you let the powder sit in hot water before pushing it through the filter?
With my first try couple of Minutes ago I Just directly/immedeiatly pushed the liquid down through the Filter without waiting. Let's See how the result is.
I assume it also makes sense to put the powder Back into your drink afterwards in terms of any remaining alkaloids to sit the poweder. Any thoughts about that?

So, maybe you can Just wrote 1, 2 sentences of your aeropress procedure.

Thank you.

NO. For strong Kratom Tea, you need to simmer your kratom first in a small pan, for 30+ minutes.

Not just pouring hot water directly into Aeropress, then pressing it out... that would be weak! :? . Kratom needs to simmer on constant heat below boiling. And, you mix acid (Citric or Acetic acid) to extract the alkaloids. Lemon juice is OK, but I prefer powder Citric acid with flavoring. It's called "Crystal Light" sold in any supermarket in USA... or use powder "Tang". You could also add, fruit like orange peel to the simmer. I add a couple big chunks of Tangerine and then, simmer 30+ minutes, and pick those out before pouring into Aeropress.

I know this thread is long... Lots of reading, sorry... All this was covered, if you READ the last couple pages here! :ugeek:

Please ignore that HUGE photo of a "Coffee Sock" above, has nothing to-do with Aeropress.

Thanks ballz. So quite some time for preperation. Nothing you can quickly do in the morning when you wake up and wanna have your burn.

But i guess you can prepare that tea in the evening and drink it the next morning, right?

For starters... Kratom, in my opinion, does NOT taste good as a HOT drink!!

No way. :? I've tried brewing it WITH coffee (aka "Kraffee"), that's horrible, ruins the good taste of coffee. I've tried adding, that Orange Spice Tea and honey, served HOT... uuggghhh!!

But! Brewing for 30+ min, simmer, as described above, WITH a packet of Crystal Light "Peach Mango" flavor... Aeropress, then cool down... Taste is fine! Yes the Crystal Light contains a sugar substitute, Aspartame. You could certainly use a sugary citrus mix. Does Tang have real sugar maybe?

Anyway my point IS. - Brew with 10g Kratom. Filter w/ Aeropress. Cool down. Now --> I store that in fridge. Gives me 4 servings of golden Kratom Iced Tea. - tasty, NO sludge, NO black mud... Mixes well with energy drinks!! And mixes with "regular" kratom powder. Its like... adding pure alkaloids, to your regular powder. Mix with a Red Bull or Rockstar drink! So usually - When I get up each morning - I have some Tea in fridge. Yes, sometimes I make in the evening. Takes about an hour. Weigh your powder. Add your Lemon or packet. Add some loose Green Tea leaf! Pour hot water. Simmer 30+ min. (Go watch TV or, wash dishes, or, whatever.) Take pan off burner. Pour into Aeropress & squeeze (2 minutes). Allow to cool (Go back to watching TV or whatever). FINAL - Back to kitchen. Pour the cooled Tea into a plastic cup with Lid. Keep that in fridge!
