Where has Kratom been my whole life
I am only 2 weeks new and I'm wondering how I've never heard of this awesome plant! I've done just about everything under the sun for my pain and anxiety and it was my neighbor who told me about kratom

Kratom can be a real boon, a "leaf of life", to those of us dealing with physical, and even mental, issues.
I'm sure you've heard to not get carried away with how much Kratom you'll take, and obviously that's sound advice. My only two cents would be to consider skipping a serving or two of Kratom so that you'll have a keen sense of what it's doing for you, and what it feels like to stop. I see that as a good way to keep things real, and to ensure that you're taking the optimal amount. Since you're new to Kratom, it should be easy peasy to get that sense of things, and it could be accomplished in less than a day.
Many people swear by finding the sweet spot, and sticking with it, as that enabled them to not have to deal with losing the good effects of Kratom, and having to do a pain in the ass resetting of their tolerance to it.
But anyway, have fun exploring all the threads here, that can be very rewarding in terms of learning things.
Aloha!

If you don't know already, you should know that kratom is physically addictive. Most users take it every 3-6hrs.
It's not nearly as bad as opiate withdrawal, but it has the same flavor to it. Definitely not comparable quitting caffeine/coffee like some communities like to pretend.
I have seen people get dependent on kratom without knowing that could happen, so I think it's important to tell noobz. Still a safe choice to consume as far as current science knows, but it is addictive.
If you want to avoid dependency I would use once every three days at most. If you don't care about dependency, then please, continue

Re: Where has Kratom been my whole life
Hiya! I use it for pain too and felt the same way when I realized how helpful it could be. Also happy you made your way to this forum because a lot of people seem to get started on overpriced brands or subpar stuff from headshops.
There's a lot of reading and learning to do, especially when you first start out. Luckily most members here are very helpful in that regard and there are some great threads from vendors themselves. The sad thing is that there isn't much research on it yet, so we don't know as much as I WANT to know, thus we have to depend on each other. DoubleM is a great community, welcome aboard.
I personally am not concerned about dependence issues - there are several medications I take on a daily basis (prescribed! lol) so I'm certainly dependent on those, as a lot of meds aren't safe to stop cold-turkey. But kratom does a lot for me and I don't even take it daily. If my pain is super bad, I'll have some once or twice (morning and/or night, depending). If it's at a bearable level, I skip that day with no ill effects. I'm not saying it can't become a dependency issue for people who take it frequently, because of course it can, but if you monitor your intake and see your tolerance start to climb - or notice that you're taking it when you don't 'need' to - then that's a clue to take a step back.
Luckily if you are one of the people who ends up experiencing withdrawals, said withdrawals are a lot kinder than the ones you get from most meds, from what I hear.
