Re: tea that's "good enough to drink", if you truly hate the taste of kratom, I don't think there's any tea recipe that can change it because it'll always have that bitterness. I have kind of a long process for tea, but it works for me: I weigh out the desired amount of leaf, put it in the bottom of a cup. Capful of lemon juice on top, mix it up, let it sit and saturate for a few minutes until most of the powder is visibly wet. 190F water over the top, leave it to "steep" for an hour or so, come back and add some baking soda to neutralize the citric acid... let it continue to cool to room temperature, pop it in the freezer overnight. In the morning I take it out and either pop the red bubble "ice cube" into my coffee (which is hot and therefore melts it) or pop it in the blender with some fruit and yogurt for a smoothie.
It sounds more complicated than it is, but so does anything when you write out each and every step, especially when you're verbose like me.
Echoing the sentiment that you need more leaf for tea if you strain it. When I was straining mine through an Aeropress, I had to use 1.5-2x the amount of powder to get anything from it. The red bubble process allows me to use my normal dose, but I don't bother with straining anymore. (I'll take a somewhat-grainy cup of coffee over the naked taste of kratom any day - I tried to throw back my tea like a shot once and almost threw up. It REALLY does not agree with me taste-wise.)
