WHO report is out

This is one of the documents the pre-review committee will be using to determine if kratom is worthy of moving forward into a critical review to be scheduled.

What are people's thoughts on it? There are parts of it that seem positive, other not, but I haven't read many WHO reports for drug scheduling lol, so don't really know how to evaluate it. Would appreciate some insight.

I saved some of the info like statistics and such from it ..it allows you to copy and paste .

It's a factual, scientific look at kratom. I saw some inaccuracies, especially in the types available (they repeat the vein color / strains nonsense), and some of their information was attributed to Wikipedia, which tickles me.

I don't think there's anything to worry about. The report did not omit the medicinal qualities, nor the reduction in alcohol and other substance consumption that's common with kratom. I think that the only real concerns are some German product that had a cocktail of other drugs in it, those concentrated shots available in gas stations and adulteration with other substances.

So nothing that we haven't discussed here, and it certainly isn't demonizing kratom.

I hate to be that person asking for a tl;dr but I've tried to read this report and the words just aren't absorbing for some reason. I had an unexpected emergency surgery yesterday afternoon so I wonder if the post-surgery meds are what's making my brainfog worse, lol. I'll have to put this away and try it again tomorrow or the day after and see if I can parse it better then.

TL;DR - A factual look at kratom from a medical point of view. No demonizing kratom, so I don't think we should worry about it.

Thank you so much! On both counts, haha. I was hoping it would be fairly neutral but there's so much fearmongering around kratom that you never know. Glad to have one less thing to worry about though!

Wow. Emergency surgery ? Scheduled, anticipated surgery is awful enough. Emergency has to be a lot worse. So sorry for you Sanbutsushin and hoping you recover soon

Thank you! It definitely wasn't fun, but at least the hard part is over. Now I'm just very tired.

Oh wow, I hope your recovery goes well! I'm still waiting to see a GI about my issues (dang new insurance). I'm really thinking its gallbladder related! My wife had all the same issues as me 4 years ago. 3 months post-op and she could eat whatever she wanted. LOL

Man I wish that was me, had my gallbladder out and took me about 8 months to have a cup of ice cream. Over 2 pieces of pizza and anything high fat/grease messes me up now.
