You are an evil man, bringer of nightmares to small children.
Had to google the movie, thought it was from there. A sequel was made, never seen.

"Why are you wearing that stupid bunny suit?"
"Why are you wearing that stupid man suit?"
I love that movie, it's one of my faves. I actually have the extended directors cut on DVD lol.

Talking about Donny Darko made me realize I don't know what to think about it, something that's been on my mind since I saw the movie (dvd rental at Blockbuster, remember those?). I just didn't get it. There were also like... web short movies to tie in with the main movie, yeah? Or some kind of website connected to it.
A movie with a similar feel, although more juvenile (not an insult) and more girly (again, not a detriment) is Ginger Snaps. Love the morbid polaroids (remember those?).

I thought this website did a pretty good job of explaining it . I think I have a pretty good grasp on it if you want a short expository ,IndelibleDotInk wrote: ↑Thu Sep 16, 2021 9:26 pmTalking about Donny Darko made me realize I don't know what to think about it, something that's been on my mind since I saw the movie (dvd rental at Blockbuster, remember those?). I just saw Ginger Snaps a couple of months ago , pretty good.
My son is 13 now and so we are starting to watch movies that are different from the studio Ghibli type stuff we watched when he was five . I was sad at first to realize that he wasn't a kid anymore , but now we are watching more classic movies together and having deeper conversations. its fun .
We watched Donny Darko together last month and he loved it . It was his idea for me to get the Frank costume. He got the Donny skeleton suit with the hoodie and we are going to hang out by the park in front of our apartment and give away candy and scare little kids.

The directors cut is the one me and my son watched last month . It's a toss up for me . It definitely helps explain more of what happened, Some people think it explains too much , but , I think the more explanation the better for a story that is hard to get a grasp on anyway . Actually my only gripe with the directors cut is that it replaces Echo and the Bunnymen "Killing Moon " song with the INXS song, which was pretty good too though .
Here are the two different versions. Theatrical version "killing moon" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=76IkuYLoJkE
and here is the directors cut with the INXS song https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CJ7Fz3m485s
they are both the same until the music kicks in . I think
