Possible Adulterated Kratom/Zodiac Kratom

So there's a gas station brand of kratom in my area called Zodiac. Years ago I would buy it in capsule form from local gas stations. It was always extremely euphoric, almost every time. Anyway, I begin ordering good kratom online and stopped with the gas station/smoke shops. But recently I got curious, I remembered how euphoric (and that's definitely the right word to use) it was and thought why not?. So I get 150 capsules for pretty cheap. Same euphoria as always. But now I'm getting really nauseous and I never get nauseous. So I think, maybe it's the cheap capsules themselves. Take the kratom out of the caps. And I see white specks throughout, in every capsule. Then I toss and wash and I've never tasted kratom like that. I'm talking years of kratom, good, bad, in between, great taste, horrible taste, etc. But nothing like that though. It almost burns my tongue, has a very acidic for lack of a better word taste. What I'm getting at is it tastes like chemicals, very strong chemicals. I'd love to have this lab tested but probably won't honestly. Honestly I might still finish this "kratom", maybe. But I'm also pretty sure there's something other than kratom in here. And that's not ok for multiple reasons. Stay safe out there everyone. sounds like phenibut to me? I think I read somewhere here that some headshop brands had phenibut in them but I think it was in a tincture or extract?

wOw! . Thanks for posting, this does sound like some adulterated shit. The stuff AKA is warning about, pushing "Regulations" on kratom , 'cuz, you know, there's SO much adulterated shit out there ?? IMO yes but it's very few and far between... Rare actually. AKA can't provide ONE current example of any. The example they push, was 5 years ago by 1 company in Florida.

Lab Testing would be expensive and time consuming, why, you can't just Test for "everything", you have to run a separate Lab Test for every substance. For example, you suspect it's spiked with Cocaine ? Then you'd pay to Lab test for coke... Nothing else would show up. There are probably 100's of possible things if you include RC's (Research Chemicals) you'd need to pay for 100's of separate Lab Tests.... that's 1 reason why nothing is ever found. Testing for a short list of "common" agents such as o-dsmt & phenibut - would make sense.

Yeah. If I had to guess it was likely a RC opioid of some sort. Honestly it was pleasant. But obviously dangerous and wrong either way. I suspect it's O-DSMT like you mentioned. You don't have to run different tests for each one, that would be like a reagent test. But there's another that sort of scans the substance completely. But anyway... I don't think it's common at all and didn't expect it. But I think I came across some for sure

I don't believe it was. I've taken my share of phenibut and this certainly was not it. My best guess is a research chemical opioid, likely O-DSMT. It seems to fit the bill of the euphoria and the very corrosive almost mouth feel. Gave me bad nausea for a couple days too. That could've been from the obviously very cheap capsules they used. I want to make clear that I'm positive that Adulterated Kratom is uncommon to say the least. I'm also usually quite skeptical when people make the claim. But I can't deny this one was almost definitely off somehow

This is serious sh*t and I think Zodiac product should be reported and investigated....by who? AKA? It's stuff like this that will hurt people and get it banned. There's a woman in Mississippi whose son died and she's blaming kratom and trying to get it banned and says it's the only substance he used and his autopsy says he died from mitragynine! I don't believe it though! The AKA has been made aware of her petition and the town meeting coming up in that case. Is it possible it was really adulterated?

A couple months back I actually reached out to a few labs that test kratom to get quotes etc.

I asked one of them about adulterant testing and he reiterated what Ballz said here: you'd have to specifically test for each suspected adulterant.

A quick google though shows that there are some methods for identifying the presence of synthetic adulterants in [allegedly] organic samples. Basically showing whether or not a sample is totally organic and also comparing it against a known clean control sample.

Methods include HPLC and GC-MS. I'm gonna guess these tests aren't cheap though and it may be cheaper/easier to just test for the most common/popular grey market chemicals.

While phenibut is very acidic, in my experience the taste is just very sour (like super sour patch kids) but not really unpleasant. I suspect this was adulterated with a cheap novel and/or grey market RC.

Btw, if anyone takes phenibut--take care of your teeth. It's acidic enough to cause some damage.

I would bet it was phebibut as well, as need it was unmitakeable chemical tasting and i think some extract shots use to or still add phenibut.

This would be an expensive process and most customers would notice the foul taste if TW'ng.. Maybe not so much with capsules, but still risky.... And you would be hard pressed for a legit defense....

Its just like when people woyld say there E pills were cut with heroib back in the days... Which no one would do because it would be an expensive waste of heroin... I still am confused why people were adding fent to cocaine.... Just reckless and stupid
