your Helen of Troy batch

Post by IndelibleDotInk »

What has been your favorite batch of kratom? Brief description of effects.

Bonus if it's still available and consistent enough to be thought of as a strain or brand.

That's the problem with small batch vendors. Once a fire strain is identified, it's gone.

Two legendary strains for me are Red Muna MIR 4 and Wild Crafted Heavy Red A6. What makes them special is they work every time.

Back when reds never hit for me (only started to, two months ago, can ye believe it?!) I tried the Red Muna with no effect. I also traded a whole bag of Wild Crafted Heavy Red!!!! I got some good TFH golds and assorted greens in return, and boy did they hit.

Strangely, the most euphoric burn I ever got was one of the shortest, about 30min and ultra cheery. Denette's Super 2 at 2.5g A usual dose is 3.5-4.5g. Never hit that strong or happily again, not by a long shot.

This!! This right here!!

I’ve had absolutely stellar first burns of batches, then returned to them with great anticipation to only end up with a headache.

In regards to the question. Out of all my favorite batches right now, the one that would make me shed a tear as I partake of the last molecules of it in my possession, would be TFH Old School Red Borneo.

It’s a heavy red, but not overly so. Very balanced and relaxing, but more importantly very consistent.

I think I have at least a couple: though I know it’s been written about a lot at MM, TFH’s Afterburner Bali was simply amazing the first several times that I tried it, and still works well for me (I save it for a once-per-month burn). It was very unusual for a white: long-lasting, good for pain, good for focus, and just felt great.

More: TFH’s Old Fashioned White River Harvest. This is one of the most consistent batches I’ve ever tried, potent and fast AF; I’ve easily had 20 great burns with this one on its own or as part of a blend.

Also Lucky’s Red Bali Sunrise (is that the right name? I’m out of town and can’t look at the bag) from mid-2021……great burns many times from this batch that delivers smooth energy, good feels, and great pain relief as well.

Lone Star’s current Jade MD is another strong contender- upbeat, great mood lift, and long legs, but I’ve only tried it 3 times. First burn was the best so far.

I had a tester from Texas Family Harvest, a yellow. Took a 3.5g and lay down. Next thing I notice in five minutes, is my body humming with energy, relaxing and soothing. Similarly to TFH's 24k gold series, but more body feeling.

The Devil's Red Bentuangie is like Zen in a bottle and Remarkable Herbs Green Malay is always good. Never had a bad bag ever even though it's "headshop" Kratom.

So this is my question…for which I doubt there is a sufficient answer without research…but I pose it to ya’ll none the less: why are there some batches that fool you with a great 1st burn but then completely bunk-out? I only have the rare few that hit everytime. My TFH old school green Bali and old school red Borneo are among the few…

Yep. In the 2.5 years that I've been using kratom, that's still the unanswered question for me as well. I've had many batches where the first burn is just insanely good, and then next to nothing on subsequent burns, even if I wait a couple of weeks to try it a second time. In fact, when folks here sometimes write "I need to sometimes try a batch a few times to really get it" or something like that, I don't relate at all. For me, the first burn is the best 98% of the time. I sometimes feel like I keep buying new batches/vendors just to have that first experience, so I tend to buy smaller bags.

When this happens, I always think something like "my body has a really long memory when it comes to kratom"......the novelty of a new batch becomes old news pretty quickly some of the time. One of the first Denette batches I ever tried was a version of Green Platinum (I don't remember the number). I swear the first time I tried it, it was like kratom heaven. It hit every note and was like magic for 4 hours or so. After that, I got almost nothing from it. Then I waited a month+; it was ok but just felt like another nice green. I don't at all think it's the kratom's "fault", but my body chem. Tolerance seems to play a small role here, but it's been like this for me since the beginning of my use.

On the other hand, I've definitely had a decent amount of batches that have worked very well many times, even if the first time is typically the best. TFH is probably my highest "consistent hit rate", although even with their stuff I've still had many that work like magic and never again. I understand that the novelty factor is just that - new/novel - but don't understand why so many kinda turn to nothing after that first shot.

Pretty much my experience as well. Besides TFH, I have a few Mitraman batches, my Denette bones, & I have had a few BB, HH & Liza’s that did it everytime…and I cherish those go-to’s. My older leaf seemed to have had a bit more consistency rate But I, like u, now prefer buying smaller batches or samplers because of this dilemma. Takes time to see what a leaf does and often by the time you figure out if it’s a keeper for your chemistry it’s long gone w/ the wind…

Me too! And I'm not sure if that has something to do with my body just becoming more familiar/de-sensitized to kratom in general, or the ongoing state of harvests and leaves being used. I had a 250g bag of BB (super white or wild white; can't remember which) that I swear worked like a perfect, potent, fast white like 50 times. This was probably a 2019(?) batch. I've only had a few others (again, mostly TFH) that behaved that way. I'm having good luck with LoneStar these days too.
