Kratom and Diphenhydramine

Anybody take these two together? Looking for a sleep aid but have read some negative stuff probably pushed by the FDA. I last dose at 6-7pm and would probably dose diphenhydramine at 11pm. You think that would that be okay? Thanks guys

There won't be any issues combining the 2. I've done it many a time. I would avoid Long term Daily use of diphenhydramine though. Real studies have come out in the last few years showing
"Researchers have discovered a significant link between high use of anticholinergic drugs – including popular non-prescription sleep aids and the antihistamine Benadryl (diphenhydramine) – and increased risk of developing dementia and Alzheimer's later in life." considering that the FDA is so in bed with the Pharmaceutical industry, these studies being an FDA sponsored hit piece don't make much sense. Occasional use should be fine.

I take them together all the time. Need my daily Benadryl or my allergies ruin me. As long as you are otherwise healthy, there shouldn’t be any side effect besides drowsiness.

E, Be very careful with long term use. I also have Spring allergies, and used Benadryl daily for several years - great for sleep, BUT - Blew up my prostate and screwed up my bladder . A well known side effect of these anticholinergic meds... Bladder retention is no fun, believe me.

I take my last daily kratom dose around 5pm nightly and take diphenhydramine around 9pm, no problems ever for me. Not medical advice though of course...

I've taken Benedryl for 60 years... yes you read that right. I've struggled my whole life with severe allergies - got my first anaphylactic emergency when I was 4. After I started using weed in college, my allergies reduced dramatically, but now in my old age they're coming back. My doctor has me on a slew of different antihistamines in addition to steroids. I haven't had any problems/ interactions with them & kratom. But my wife... my wife... I can't seem to remember where she is.

this is what I've read about too. it's a little concerning. something to keep in mind, for sure.

as far as a sleep aid that doesn't have those risks, melatonin has been about as effective as benadryl for me. I have taken both in combination in the past. I currently take a non-narcotic prescription sleep aid. there are some decent ones that don't cause many side effects. rozerem is one, that is similar to melatonin, that seems to work well. for otc, L-theanine has helped me. I usually just get it from the (caffeine free) black tea I drink, instead of buying it in supplement form.

I mix kratom and diphenhydramine nightly. I've been taking melatonin/diphenhydramine nightly together for 6 years. I've recently read the link between diphenhydramine and dementia, so I am looking for an alternative.
Anyway, I don't experience any adverse or strange reactions from this. I do not take them together. I take the kratom several hours before the diphenhydramine.
