Taper Question
I was wondering if anyone has any experience tapering? I am trying to taper off, say I drop small amounts such as 0.25 grams every 1-2 days, how long does it take for your body to adjust, because it sounds good, to drop .25 grams every two days, but I was wondering if my body needs longer to adjust. Pretty much I don't want to put myself in a position were I have withdrawal symptoms during my entire taper. I understand .25 grams is very small amount so I hope it would be minimal but just curious. Any tips and advice would be helpful. I am a heavy doser id say anywhere from 24-26 gpd.

Re: Taper Question
Everybody is going to be different - people can suggest, but ultimately it will be up to you.
If I were as high a doser as you are I think I'd try at least dropping 2-3 grams on one day and waiting a full three days to see how you feel. Then rinse and repeat. Obviously if you start to feel bad you can either raise it or keep it the same but at that high a dose I doubt whether you'd even notice dropping a few grams once or twice a week.
I recently dropped my normal dose of 6 grams to 2.5 and it actually seemed to work better (but I was also being VERY careful about hydration, having regular BMs each day, and only dosing on a VERY empty stomach - that last to me the most important, as eating even four hours later is not enough. So after five to six hours I can dose and it still works great). But everyone is SO very different I suspect only you will discover what works and what doesn't. For me I could cut my dose more than half and still feel even better.

I did 1/4 teaspoon less every 3 days seems to be fine but you want to do more is the only issue.KratomAdvocateMO wrote: ↑Mon Jun 13, 2022 7:45 pm I was wondering if anyone has any experience tapering? You want to do more as in do more kratom? I appreciate the advice, I just want to do it with minimal withdrawal symptoms.

Re: Taper Question
I have been tapering in anticipation of an international trip in a few months. I started a month or so ago. I was around a 30 GPD user with around 10 3gram doses per day for the last 6 years nonstop.KratomAdvocateMO wrote: ↑Mon Jun 13, 2022 7:45 pm I was wondering if anyone has any experience tapering? Right off the bat i switched to 10 2 gram doses per day and felt no WD effects. I kept this dose for about 2 weeks to adjust to it. Since then I have been dropping about 1/4 gram per dose per week and also spreading out the time between dosing.
So this week for example I am down to 7 1.5 G doses per day which is 10.5 G per day. Next week or the week after I will drop to 6 1.25 G doses per day.
So far I have had very minimal WD issues and have had absolutely no trouble sleeping. I think the long term taper is the way to go if you can keep it up. Knowing I have this trip planned and knowing I would not be able to sustain a 30gpd habit internationally has been the motivation I needed to finally commit to a taper. I would even say that the doses seem to be working a lot better bc I have them spaced out and my body is no longer oversaturated.
Good luck!!

Re: Taper Question
I’ve always been a fan of the slow taper if you have the stock available to do so. When I first switched over to kratom I was on a hell of a miserable slope coming off some terribly undesirable habits. I think I had slept 4-5 hours in 6 days. Anyways back on topic, I was using 11-12G of kratom to stave of WD. This was back in 2017, and I was unaware of the more quality stuff that’s I have available now. I stuck with this 11G x 4-5 times a day for 6 months, afraid to go through what I just had all over again. Eventually I decided I needed to taper , with some solid support from people within the community I started fast and then went slow.
Use a SCALE with .00 increments
Dropped 11G straight down to 9.5, rode that out for 3 days. And then every 1-2 days (never more than 2) I dropped .05-.1 from each dose. I never lost the effects, in fact over time i started to feel the effects Much much better, less nausea, etc. I got down to 4g x 4-5 times a day and then decided to space my doses out. I added a 4.5 hour gap between doses, 3 days later added a 5 hour gap, 3 days later a 5.5 hour gap until I was spaced out by 6 hours per dose. This was the only part that kind of sucked at first but my body adjusted after about 3 days each time. You could probably do without spacing them out like that and just continue dropping each dose by small small increments and that would work too.
So now I was at 4g x 3 times a day from almost 70G a day. It took a while but I really only felt like crap when spacing out the doses. Eventually I cut out an excess dose to two, and tapered down very slowly the two doses to zero. Took a couple weeks off and then could take it as I please. Anyways slow was a winner for me and it made it super easy , just took a long time (like 6 months) but I had no reason to rush. I always make a point to have enough in my stash to comfortably taper off in case SHTF too!
I’m sure there’s much quicker ways, and plenty of other methods that would be successful but this is what worked for me personally, minimal to no difficulty, didn’t lose effects until I got into the low numbers. The hardest part was staying disciplined, but honestly that was easy too

Re: Taper Question
Ya for me I had always thought about tapering but could never pull the trigger or it was always, “i will start on Monday.” What finally kicked my ass into gear was the thought of WD while out of country and not being able to sleep the whole trip.
When i was younger and using oxys/suboxone. I once took a trip to California with an SO that had no clue I was using. Somehow i underestimated the amount of subs i would need for the whole trip. I went 7 days without anything (this is before I knew about Kratom) and it was hell. WD are bad enough but going through them and trying to hide it from a romantic partner while on vacation was pure torture. For anyone whos had sex while WD you know you are able to last about 30 seconds at most
so that was not great. Thank god I found out about Kratom shortly after that trip!! Definitely saved me!
