Your personal T break tips!

Post by Cuttlefish »

Hey all. Interested in everyone personal tips for taking t breaks. Most of us know about black seed oil, agmatine, tapering down, healthy diet, controlled phenibut use, etc. wondering more about everyone’s personal coping mechanisms, for me I know hot showers with music always make me feel better, good movies often illicit tears (in a good way) as my emotions tend to run while during any type of t break, masturbation, difficult video games that demand your attention to play, going for a walk in the sun. It’s hard for me to work when on a t break, I find this is my biggest hurdle, and the combined not wanting to waste my weekend feeling crappy.

I’m currently down to about 9g a day, and want to keep going lower, once I’m at 4 or so, I want to request work off for a week and stay off the entire week, and following that always take 1-2 days off a week, and only 1-2 doses a day instead of 3-4. I have had success with my taper, I feel more clear and less foggy. I do not take kratom for pain, but for anxiety/depression/past addiction issues.

I have been tapering for over a week now, was take on avg 45g per day for years. In the past, it's been really hard for me to taper because I want that mood lift that I only sometimes get now.

I've found that coming to this forum helps keep me motivated to taper. Eventually I'll get down low enough to take a break. Im down to about half my previous intake and I haven't had any major issues aside from night sweats. I keep reminding myself that taking more grams won't do anything for me anyways, so might as well take less and lower my tolerance. I've been using cats claw, PEA, and DPLA and I'm really not sure how much it has helped. I always have about a 10 to 15 hour break from my last dose at night to my first in the morning. My morning dose doesn't even do anything, and my afternoon one sometimes gives me a lift.

I think you're on the right track... The psychological part is the hardest. You're probably low enough on gpd to stop completely and just take a tiny amount of you get any symptoms. Keep going! I'm going to cut mine down again by about half next week! Use this forum to stay motivated!

I will say that one time I ran out and had to stop cold turkey for two or three days. Had some restleg leg syndrome at night, but then I shook out the dust of one of my empty bags and maybe got 1g from it. Took it in the middle of the night and within 30 mins the RLS went away and I could sleep. RLS is my biggest fear, because lack of sleep really affects my mood

Because kratom is so short acting (2- 4 hours) I find even the lowest minimum gpd, is best split into 2 servings. Of course your morning or mid-day, is best, so make that your big dose of the day. 5 to 6 hours later a booster shot, see Fused Flora's recent graph showing even a small amount can boost # mitragynine in your system and keep the good feelin' active... The #1 complaint from regular kratom use ? effects don't last long enough. Of course need to juggle w/ meals and exercise so the timing gets tricky.

Drinking as Iced Tea has some benefits.. Mixing up the "Red Bubble Tea" only takes a few minutes (I know, more hassle than just dumping powder down lol.) Carefully weigh out your next 2 Days powder, into a coffee cup.. I blend a couple favorites. Add boiled water, steep, cool and freeze. Now I got next 2 days, all ready to go after thawing 1 hour in sink.. Make up your cold drink. Use a 16 oz beer glass, or use a smoothie cup w/ measuring lines.. Or take a sharpie and draw an 8 ounce Line on that beer glass. Dump in your thawed Red Bubble. Add juice I like lemonade, apple, or OJ - add some Magnesium +A a squirt of MiO flavoring.

Now over the next 2 days it's ready to go. Open Fridge, pour a serving into a cup.. I add liquid vitamin here. The Mag citrate is already in. Being liquid U can also add cannabis or CBD extract.. Also, you can "fake a serving" easy with liquid. Just make it really weak! Mentally you think I'm having my kratom! But # grams in the cup is lower. And lower. Makes the tapering easy - good luck! :geek:

I have had success with my taper, I feel more clear and less foggy. I do not take kratom for pain, but for anxiety/depression/past addiction issues.

I had a weird situation where I came off subs, had some mediocre kratom that was well reviewed, but then the batch I got not well reviewed. So I was having to take 6 grams of it at a time to get a “burn”. Then I was taking gold reserve and opms caps. I finally found out yesterday that 2 grams of real quality leaf, for me TFH, really is the sweet spot. So I went from 6 grams twice a day to 2 grams 2-3 times a day. It helps a lot and stretches the burn out.

I haven’t really had extreme tolerance issues yet for the past 4 weeks or so since I started on Kratom again. Even being stupid and taking asinine amounts of kratom and extract. But now I’m loving my two gram dose.

As far as a tolerance “break”, I just don’t think I could. I’d have to taper down to 1 gram, then 0.5 grams etc. Before I could ever actually stop taking kratom even for one day. I’m getting hit with some pretty terrible withdrawals in the morning. I don’t remember it being so bad withour Kratom back in 2013 when I took it. Could it still be PAWS from the suboxone? I just stopped taking them 31 days ago.

Having capsules of regular leaf works for me. I'll take one or two whenever the craving or grouchiness hits and it works wonders. The amount is so small that it doesn't seem to impact the tolerance benefit I get from skipping my regular doses. First day is the worst. Cold turkey vs one 00 cap is night and day in terms of mood. That's me. Probably different for everyone.

Generally speaking (I know volume and weight aren't the same), how much fits in a cap? I thought it was half a gram....

And as far as detoxing from any opiate to get it out of your system and then able to feel it coming on completely again, also applies to kratom, sleep is the enemy and your friend. Sleep is what makes you wake up sick. Somehow you rapidly detox from opiates in your sleep. Its why a lot of us have insomnia even if we are taking traditional opiates or good red vein at night. You subconsciously know this and fight the sleep.

It’s horrible for say, a heroin addict though. Because its way more expensive than Kratom and they will wake up dam near half the time without it if they try not to completely give up their life but aren’t rich. I was like that and it was torture waking up in the morning. Obviously the withdrawals are even worse too. It’s still really bad but it helps to have good kratom on hand. Works in about 20-30 minutes for me.

Also, a lot of the desired effects from kratom, or whatever, is the come on. Like when it first hits you and everything changes and you feel way better and get a bit if a rush. For me Kratom wears off fast so that’s why I take smaller doses multiple times a day.

@Cuttlefish

Sounds like you pretty much already know what to do. But personally, I wouldn't jump off at 4gpd. It can be done, especially if you have a week off and just want to get it over with, but I've found getting down to 1g in the morning and 1g in the afternoon to be superior. Once you reach 6gpd, knocking off .25 per serving each day seems to work okay for most.

I might suggest talking to your doctor and getting a gabapentin RX and using that instead of phenibut. Use is best limited to the first 3-5 days of zero kratom. Taper down the gabapentin on the last two days. Again, talk to a doctor, don't take my word for it. (hopefully your doctor isn't ignorant about kratom)

In addition, heavy weightlifting is great for mood/libido/self-esteem. But don't do it if you feel like you haven't gotten enough sleep the night before. And obviously don't lift if you feel inebriated from a gabapentinoid, etc..

As a supplement, you might look into Creatine. In addition to athletic performance, it may have some neurological benefits. Originally started taking it for weightlifting but definitely noticed an increase in mental performance. The effect could just be from exercise itself. Who knows.

Haven't tried it myself but there are a lot of folks who swear by sauna use. I don't have access to one but if you do, I'd definitely check it out.

And as far as walking the line between everyday and non-everyday use, it gets tricky. It seems if people use more than one day per week, they tend to eventually get sucked back into everyday use. To me there seems to be two options which can be reasonably adhered to:
1. Non-everyday use: Only consume kratom once per week. Wouldn't consume more than 4gs on that day. Make sure your week doesn't revolve around your "kratom day." If it does, cut back to once every two weeks. If your your weeks still revolve around kratom, get help! Ya damn fiend lol.
2. Everyday Use: Consume it everyday. Keep it limited to two servings per day. Each serving should be between 0.5-2gs. So no more than 4gpd. Probably the best way to go if you don't want to give up kratom but also don't want the torture of physical and psychological inter-dose withdrawals which accompany off days.

Awesome! Thank you acejestyr15!

I've read it over two times now and am definitely intrigued. I'm curious when he talks about feeling a burn for 6 hours with one dose though. I can't feel it much beyond 1.5 hours no matter how much I take, though I am taking it for mood lift and not for pain control so that may be the difference.

I have been a daily user for about 3.5 years now and one observation I have to help me cut down on my use is this:

First: Being actively engaged in a project. I noticed that my desire for Kratom is highest when I am bored or stuck at home. So having a creative project like knitting, painting or gardening is really helpful. Or even writing or anything really that focuses your mind. Decluttering the house, cleaning your floors, writing letters.

The other thing that is key is exercise. For me I like to garden and you can really work up a sweat digging in the dirt and planting things or weeding. But you could also paint your house or re-organize your closets. Taking a long hike is good, or swimming. The worst thing is sitting on the couch with nothing to occupy your mind or body.
This Covid time is of course really difficult, especially when you are single. Loneliness and boredom makes the craving worse. Good luck all. xoxo

Just to update everyone:

I kind of tapered to about 7.5 a day, and jumped due to a work vacation. The withdrawals weren’t that bad, a combo of black seed, agmatine, b complex, l theanine, vitamin c, dlpa, and thx was/is plenty to get through. I jumped 4 weeks from yesterday, and since then I have done kratom twice. The withdrawals weren’t that bad, extremely easy watching movies and smoking weed, but my first week back at work was tough. For background, I went from weed/adderall when I was like 16, to heroin by 19, to detox and gabapentin when 23, to kratom and no gab at 24, and now I’m 26. So I have experience with worse withdrawals, but finally being dependent on no drug has been probably the most rewarding/hard thing I’ve ever done. It’s also worth noting when I kicked heroin, I relapsed on and off the first year, but never got addicted again. I’d do it like every 2 weeks, and the stretches got longer and longer till where I am now where it’s been about a year and a half. So my mindset going into it was it’s okay to take kratom a little bit, just keep reducing the frequency. When I “relapse”, it does not restart the withdrawals, but i do feel crappy the next few days, like a hangover day 1 and worse paws the next 2 days then back to normal. When I say relapse, I mean an all day thing, taking kratom 2g x 4. The times I did kratom, they were very underwhelming, I think this is due to the Agmatine not fully being out of my system. I think the best dose I had was 24 hours no agmatine, but I think if I go like 4 days no agmatine and take kratom, I will experience a great burn due to tolerance. An issue is agmatine blocking effect (I’m one of those who loses euphoria when taking both, I’m not a pain patient) helps me not take kratom because if I get a craving, I just think it’s pointless because I already took agmatine today. I don’t have a general point, just more wanted to rant and update. I know if I wanted to be done for good, I’d throw away the kratom, but I’m not sure what I want. I have made more progress in my life on kratom than any other period of my life. I think I blame my depression on kratom, when in reality I am just depressed, which led me to drugs in the first place. Hard having a clear view of how I really am when it’s been one chemical or another forever. I don’t feel I abused kratom, but after 2 years I feel the negative started outweighing the positive.

Someone earlier in the thread said something like 2g every two weeks wouldn’t make me have shitty days most likely, I think that may be my plan for now. And to completely cycle off the agmatine a good 5 days in advance. I wonder how much agmatine builds in your system and how long it takes to fully get the euphoria back, and how much is from kratom losing its magic. I have TFH strains I enjoy, and some liza/Benni/fused, the issue isn’t quality.

Thanks for listening, it helps for me to just vomit this all out. It’s hard getting advice on kratom in my opinion, quitting kratom reddit is too skewed into demonizing it, while at the same time I think some forums are too skewed into saying it’s a miracle. Drugs are drugs, kratom is vastly better than any pharmaceutical for pain/anxiety/depression, but at the same time, it’s still a drug, and the withdrawals are 100% worse than coffee and 100% weaker than even oxy, let alone heroin.

I'd offer a couple of pro tips that haven't been discussed above.

First, is exercise. The endorphins that your body releases will affect you dynamically over a long duration (4-5 hours). Since you're using kratom for mood lift, I would estimate that this would almost be the most beneficial for you. Taking some ketones before or during exercise could also help, as your body would be less in the carb coma and would begin transitioning to burning some fat. The benefits of keto are well studied and easier attained when exercising (a prolonged walk is just as good as anything else). Exercise is always beneficial, but with the ketones you'll feel less lethargic after a terrible diet if you like to eat.

Which leads me to diet.

Diet - work towards a more alkaline diet with high amounts of things to put you in an alkaline state. He's a chart to help:

Image

By doing so, a lot of other substances, such as coffee and cocoa, that also contain alkaloids become much more beneficial and can have much of the same mood lifting affects of kratom (Cocoa being the best IMHO). https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3575938/ You can use 100% cocoa chocolate bars or powder form, I mix mine with coffee and if in the right situation can get a pretty solid mood lift off of it.

Folks swear by keto, and keto certainly helps burns, and mood lift, but the keto flu blows (and you're not burning). I'd look for a happy median that perhaps meets your goals better, an attempt to get into "the zone". essentially it's middle ground before keto, still having carbs, but more so omega 3-6-9s to overproduce eicosanoids to significantly reduce inflammation (leading to better feeling overall). I won't bore you with the science, search Dr Barry Sears if you're looking for info on this state. Flax, fish, and krill oils should help a lot.

Good luck.

Thanks Fused! I'm trying to modify my diet. More kratom sensitive foods would be great.. many of us eat too much sugar and carbs.. Sugar is definitely an addiction, people talk about coffee WD, and or various "drug" habits, but Sugar is very tough to stop cold turkey.

I have been trying to get my Guy off of sugar for 25 years. It seems to be a losing battle. Studies have claimed that it's more addictive and harder to shake than cocaine, and I believe it. But I swear, If you can sharply modify for at least 30 days, it can be a life-changer. I shook it decades ago and I can walk past a bakery without blinking.

Suger is under talked but in reality i think its NUMBER 1 issue everyone should face or suffer. I also reduced sugar intake by a lot. One time i tried to avoid all sugar and became very weak and shaky, just a warning, start slow! If something you use the best sugar source on earth, Raw HONEY! I stocked up on raw sugared sugar... Thats the only think i use for sugar. not to mention its packed with enzymes that help break foods down better. I cant remember last time i spooned sugar cane into my tea. maybe 10 years ago? I am sure you are all aware of aspartame fake sweetener that is in all gums you chew now and many foods. In all diet drinks. Just type "Aspartame side effect" and watch some videos to get an idea how harmful it can be.

Idk why but opiates/opioids make me fiend for sugar lol. When I was doing heroin/morphine I put on like 40lbs of fat from all the candy and icecream I was eating. I still get it with kratom as well although not anywhere near as bad. I have no idea why dopamine and endorphin boosts maybe? Dairy is another one like that as well(casomorphins).

Definitely going to try out Shauns redosing technique today. I just did the math on my current dose and it looks like I need about 1.1g of the leaf I have (lab tested so I know the mit content) to bring myself back to 100%. Really interested to see if this actually works on me. Lets hope for the best!
